If Mary appeared before you how would you test her?

At the 2nd apparition at Lourdes, St Bernadette was told by her aunt to test the vision to be sure it was not the devil by sprinkling holy water at the vision.

Bernadette did this and the Blessed Mother merely smiled at her. She then took her Rosary and began to pray. Bernadette followed. The Blessed Mother only prayed the Our Father and Glory Be, while the Hail Mary’s were only said by Bernadette.

The one thing that a visionary would know is that they would feel the great presence of love, which to me is the key in knowing if this is truly a being from Heaven.

You could just pray or a decade of the Holy Rosary out loud. If the apparition responds negatively, keep praying! If it is the real deal, I am sure She would respond with Love.
The following is an excerpt from the book “An Exorcist Explains the Demonic” by Fr. Gabriele Amorth:
“What role does the Virgin have in the liberation of the obsessed? Mary, as the Hail Mary says, is “full of grace.” She is the mediatrix of God’s every grace for all men, particularly for those who suffer much, including those who suffer from spiritual evils. The enmity between Mary and Satan — proclaimed solemnly by God in the first book of Genesis (Gen. 1:3–15) and manifest in the eschatological struggle with the dragon — makes her the number-one enemy of the demon. She will be the one to crush his head at the end of time.”

In the New Testament , the demon shouted “I know who you are, you are the Son of God” before leaving the possessed person and Jesus commanded the devil to shut up. So in some form, the demon did confessed Jesus is Lord.

When Jesus was at the desert for 40 days, the devil even used the Holy Scriptures to tempt Jesus, challenged His authority as God, and targeted His weakness knowing that Jesus was famished in the desert.

I am always very wary of the devil, I feel that the devil is so sneaky to the extent of knowing your flaws and playing along that to tempt you!

One way for me is to test whether whatever that is communicated across to me by any being is bringing me closer to God and allowing me to grow in my identity as a child of God.

If it is inconsistent with God and my identity as an image of Christ, then I will rather not pursue it with that being.

I wont try to interact with devil and try to convert or bring the devil to Christ. I believe that God calls me to love Him and His people. Even Jesus Christ didnt attempt to convert the devil, He is so clear with who He is and how He is called to live, to the extent that the devil cannot hide itself from Him- too Holy for the devil

I prayed as a child for Mary not to appear to be as well as any Saints…
So I dont think she’ll appear to me.
☹️

Yes, that would count as extreme duress, as God Himself stood before him, seizing the demon with terror.

Well mary or a spirit has been appearing in mejorgoria for 38+ years. You can research how the church is testing this issue
You can go on line or utube and see 4 yourself
I note that Medjugorje apparition is currently not approved by the Church. The terms of service for the forum prohibits us from posting or discussing the contents of unapproved private revelations, including Medjugorje.

Mary does appear to us all each and every day and perhaps we are spiritually blind…

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers

While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

I think it’s wild that anyone thinks they’ll have enought time to test her, or have the wherewithal to do so in the moment.

it’s my understanding that demons flee from the name of Mary. I highly doubt our Lord would allow such an evil apparition.

I think I’d throw Holy Water toward her, as St. Bernadette did, to see her smile 🙂
