It is hard to fathom being without a Bible.

And if we are the only survirors, who is going to perpetuate the presence of the written word of God in the world? We can always come up with another Catechism. The Church has written Catechism’s many times, but can it write another Bible?

The beauty of the current Catechism is its synthesis of the Testaments. A person can read Sacred Scripture and yet not draw together the prefigurement and the fulfillment. Or, how those Scriptural relationships touch our lives. The Catechism is very helpful in doing those things.
 
I’d want both. Of course Scripture always gets a primacy of place, but without the Tradition to open the Scriptures up to me, well I’d be lost. 🤷
 
The Catechism of the Catholic Church, since I cannot have both. The CCC brought the Bible to life for me as I read it before conversion. The Bible without teaching authority can lead to confusion…as evidenced by millions of Bible “readers” without a true Church to guide them. CCC is beautiful…just like the Bible but very easy to understand and faith affirming.🙂
Actually, the question is a little like …which would you rather take with you to a desert island, a knife or a whetstone?
 
Not meaning to disrupt the flow of the thread, the Bible seems a logical choice and the CCC would be benefical books. However,excluding those obvious choices what might be your next choice?
 
Good try, but on a deserted island there is no electric or UPS service,
which means no internet either, so ya might as well as read.😃
 
“How to build a raft out of anything” would be my choice. 😃
