If we don't necessarily need to believe in Noah's ark as a historical reality, do we have to believe in Noah's existence?

I know some Jews, and I have known others in the past. A few of them told me lies; most of them most of the time told me the truth. Much like non-Jews really. The people who lie to me the most are Christians who interpret the Bible woodenly literally, so that have to lie about astronomy, geology, physics, archaeology and biology in order to prop up their ludicrous interpretation of a late Bronze age/early Iron age text.

You are the one who seems to have an obsession with Jews, not me.

As to dinosaurs, one just flew past my window. I know that man and dinosaurs have lived together for as long as man has been on earth.

So would people in ancient Greece. (They thought dinosaur bones were the bones of giant ancient heroes, ttheir giant ancient horses, and the giant monsters they slew, all of whose bones were turned to stone by the gods to make sure people remembered them, or because giants were tougher.) Paleontologists in the last decade or so have been busily checking the “miscellaneous rocks” section of old archaeology digs from the last couple of centuries, because a lot of Greek temples were specifically built to honor finds of “hero bones,” which archaeologists didn’t recognize as anything of interest.

St. Albert the Great, in his book “On Animals,” talks about visiting an area of Germany which today is known for its bluffs full of dinosaur bones. He records that he saw the bones of a “dragon” sticking out of the cliff. That would have been in the 1200’s.

So if it’s all a Masonic fraud, obviously the Masons have a time machine and an unlimited budget for sticking bones into cliffs.

There probably was a localized deluge but not covering the entire earth and certainly not two animals of every kind aboard. Was there a Noah? Not necessarily, maybe, but what exactly he did is legend.

However, we can all talk about him in the context of his story as if he were a historical person to understand the importance of faith and the providence of God.

Well Jesus says there is no truth in the one you accept truth from (John 8:44). I believe NOTHING those people have to say or claim or bare witness to. I took me 7-8 years of my adult life to undue all the brainwashing from them my whole life.

The question is why do YOU insist on being deceived by these people? Look at how they mocked everyone by putting a picture of Pluto on Pluto. They always put tell tale signs in plain sight for all to see so during judgement people can’t claim ignorance.

(before you answer, consider the parables that come directly out of Christ’s mouth that were never intended to be factual in a material way, yet communicate saving Truth.)
And then re-ask yourself the questions about Noah.
And Genesis.
And Jonah.
 
Yes BUT, the bible employs MANY literary forms,

THE BIBLE IS ALWAYS TRUE BUT NOT ALWAYS FACTUAL…meaning what it TEACHES is true, but not everything is literal. LOOK for the Moral lesson, while at first reading assuming it is a literal account, but be prepared for other possibilities.

When in doubt use a GOOD Bible commentary such as Hayocks which can be GOOGLED

Just to be accurate here: everything in the Bible has a primary literal sense, so it’s not quite right to say that not everything in the Bible is literal. I know what you mean, but this is a source of confusion in the way Catechists and apologists handle this. All senses of scripture flow from the literal. (CCC 116)
Not everything in the Bible is scientifically and/or historically factual. That’s different than “literal” in the way the Church uses it. Literal and factual are not the same thing.

It is speculated that Metusaleh could have been martyred, as the Bible tells us that sin abounded in those days ( a bit like the times we’re living in nowdays )

Not quite. According to the Masoretic text of the Word of God, Methusaleh lived to the age of 969 years. According to the Septuagint text of the Word of God, Methuselah lived to the age of 989, twenty years longer. Your sources are in disagreement, I’m afraid. The transmission of the Word if God has obviously been marred by errors.

How do you know what blood types Noah and his family had?
How do you know ours matches them?
How do you know what Noah’s DNA was like?
 
If God has the power to create the universe and life, then he must have all the power necessary to make the Ark story happen also.
However, I feel it is more important to try and focus on the reason why God brought a flood to the world. Rather than get too bogged down in all the technicalities and details of the story.
