in truth, the faith in Jesus Christ was form and in the year 107 a.d., the first time the Katholike Church was mention in publication, none other was mention until about 1000 a.d., further more the original text in greek explain better the Katholike Church as translated into Latin, Latin Vulgate (Simple Latin ) and later English, Spanish, by Saint Jerome, Protestant Scholar Adolph Harnack’s Commeneted that the Church of Rome can trace their roots, all the way to Saint Peter and Jesus Christ. The fact remains that in Christianity the Catholic Church is the only one that can prove inside and outside the Holy Bible of that existence from Christ’s time till now. also Family to Catholic faith as established by Jesus Himself, as family as in union is important to God, as should be for us all Love YBIC always the truth.

The Catholic Church indeed was the only Christian church for centuries…only relatively recently did people begin to break away and usually because of a misguided perception of just who God really is. Most heresies or misconceptions begin with failing to understand who God really is. Someone disagrees so it is simple, they just go start their own church. Then someone else says oh no, it is this way, and he or she goes off into the wild blue yonder with another church. And of course all are “correct” The most amazing thing about all of this is the incredible notion that what we happen to personally believe must be true, because WE believe it. If it were not true, we would not be believing it. Scary eh?

No one hates Catholics; just many of their beliefs.
I suggest you truly get to know what Catholic Beliefs really are before you go around hating them. You just may be pleasantly surprised by the TRUTH. Many have been and do not regret it. Other wise you are just hating what someone “tells” you are catholic beliefs when they are not really.

Whether you are Eastern or Roman, you are still Catholic, and more important Christian. Each branch claims they were around first depending upon your reference and perspective, so its kind of useless to keep debating it.
also remember that not all Orthodox are in union with Rome, However the Catholic Church accept all different types of Orthodox, majorly the reason for the separation, half which is fault of their governement and not theology, and some were for theology reason of differences but you are right in that: we must imitate Jesus Christ, just like all the Saints, THomas Kempe, St. THomas Aquinas, St. Jerome and the list is endless however, though the Catholic Church was first and is why we call it Catholic Orthodox in its officail teachings.]

The main reason the Catholic Church was the only church for so long was because of the violent and extreme repression of “heretics” - anyone who disagreed with “official” teaching. It wasn’t because no one disagreed. Eventually, however, times changed and you just couldn’t kill or torture eveyond who disagreed with you and we had the Reformation.

Don’t hate anyone, or anything of God, it is not God like and it is a moral imperative that we all refrain from such grossly and tasteless attacks, furthermore God gave us free will and we all misuse our free wiil and by and through the Most Holy Spirit do we are reminded that our will is worhtless and only God’s Will matters and our Job as Catholics is to Honor, Praise, and Bless His Holy Name as doing the Will of the Father by Loving Jesus Christi and loving all, Amen, I say to you, Love each other regardless of conditions, mentality and or beliefs, but most importantly i love you all, YBIC love ALways

Have you ever read what some of these heresies involved? In many cases it was not just an instance of benign disagreement. Heresies such as Donatism and Catharism were very dangerous and led to many deaths on their own without involvement from the Catholic Church.

regardless of what you think of me, the gospel is all i am sharing with you.works is not faith, it is law, did jesus fullfill it all or not? your answer shows the foundation which your building on. is it the rock christ jesus, or the shifting sand?
What about the 10 Commandments, are they works??? John 14: 15 and -faith without works is dead, James 2:26, -a man is justified by works and not faith alone, James 2:14-24. The Catholic Church is built on the ROCK and its been here for 2,000 years to prove it, teaching the same doctrine it was given by Jesus Christ, and let me see, how long has your denomination been around and where did it come from? What “man” started it. look in the encyclopedia. Like maybe in the past 500 years since the protestant reformation you folks have been dividing and dividing and are over 40,000 different denominations. Can’t even agree on how to interpret the Bible. Now who would you say was built on sand??? If I were you, I would stop hating and start learning and loving the TRUTH. Jesus said I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life. Batting your head against the TRUTH isn’t gonna get you anywhere !!!

Actually, it is the other way around, the Protestant’s were and still are Protesting the Truth of Jesus Christ, and if you bother to check the independent sources and the Holy Bible, it was the Protestants that did the violant killings, and it was the Protestant’s that changed the Holy Bible as the KJV was after the fact of Christianity. the Catholic faith did killed Protestants but that was in self defense and not offense, just like our Jewish Brothers constantly under attack for believing differently. Check the Book of Revelation Chapter 12: Who does Satan Goes after? The Virgin Mary and her followers, seed and Jesus Christ( meaning the Catholic Faith)

One must remember that the Holy Bible is the only Authority in regards to rightful living, and if we abide by it only, then we neglect the many times that Jesus Christ told of the many miracles, healings and other wonders to not go and tell the world, because if one would submit to Bible only, Jesus Teaches us that we would not contain all the works, words and love of God in a simple book that we call a Bible, SImply the Holy Bible is the Written Authority for rightful living, but surely not the only one, as Jesus Left us His Holy SPirit.

Catholics killed, too: e.g. St. Bartholomew Day’s Massacre. Also, the religious wars in the Netherlands: Catholic Philip II of Spain sent an army to quell the mostly Calvinist people of that land. Many Protestants were killed there.

It got rather messy: Lutheran soldiers at one point joined the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in invading Rome.

The Protestants who executed persons on charges of religious heresy (e.g. Calvin burning Servetus) could also say they were doing so in defense, lest their congregations and doctrine be polluted with dangerous error.

You gotta be kidding, you really need to read history. You are soooooo far off base, it isn’t even funny. Have you ever heard of the 8th Commandment, Thou Shalt NOT Bear FALSE Witness Against Thy Neighbor!!! MY, MY, MY.

Again, the assumption is that people always leave the Roman Catholic Church for completely the wrong reasons, due to some defect in their understanding or human weakness.

Again, the assumption is that people leave because they are too prideful. Some may regret it. I can’t get into every person’s head or heart. Do you disregard the possibility that people can leave the Roman Catholic Church with humility and a well-informed conscience, not to mention an intellectual knowledge of what Roman Catholicism teaches?

What’s that supposed to mean?

The halls of Hell are lined with the skulls of bishops. I personally find the priest scandal in the Roman Catholic Church as a poor reason for leaving. The Protestants and Orthodox have their share of scandals as well. The media does tend to focus much on the Catholic sex scandal, but there has been coverage of abuse in certain Protestant churches, as well as, more recently, the fundamentalist LDS community.

The Orthodox have full and true sacraments (mysteries). They teach what has been believed always, everywhere and by all.

Many, many protestant ministers are also becoming Orthodox. Something like 60%+ Orthodox priests in the U.S. are converts, mostly I would think from Protestantism. Ever hear of Fr. Gilquist? He was a former head of Capmus Crusade for Christ and led 4,000 Protestants to the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Your Western bias is here present–that is, if you mean the Orthodox are desperately seeking re-union with Rome.

The Orthodox Churches seek a unified Church as it was in the 1st millenium before the Great Schism. The Orthodox Church would like to see the Western Church return to her Western Orthodox roots, present in the 1st millenium. But this does not mean they consider their present ecclesiological situation defective, as the Western Church considers the Eastern Churches.

The Orthodox bishops are praying for unity, yes, but they are not for (or should not be for) a false unity, such as occurred at Florence. There are several problems that yet need to be resolved before receiving the Pope back into communion (to put it bluntly, from the Orthodox perspective; were such a union to occur, the Roman Catholics likely would see it vice versa as the Orthodox Churches returning to communion). I hope the Western Church and the Eastern Church commune once again, but I would like to see it done when the proclaimed faith of the two is the same.

Why would I bash the Catholic Church? I already am a Catholic in the Catholic Church. I mean this, seriously. Now, I don’t always agree with what the Western Church teaches, but does this make me anti-Catholic? I don’t accept the Western Church’s interpretation of Church history, but does that mean that I’m “bashing” the [Roman] Catholic Church? 🤷

Rome isn’t home for all Catholics either. Look at the Melkites, the Ukrainian Catholics, the Ruthenians, the Maronites, the Syro-Malabar, etc. Although in communion with the Roman Church, their home is not Rome but the Churches at or in Antioch, Kiev, Carpatho-Rus., Lebanon, etc.
There is only One Catholic Church, but included in that union is all different Orthodox Church, People of Orthodox stop responding to Catholics about this issue and People of Catholic (Rome) respect each other as we all are the same, The others Protestants are not in union with Rome or with Catholicsm, or Orthodox, When a Protestant says something about Catholics, you folks in the Orthodox rites are automatically included as well as us in the Catholic Branch, The Doctrines of Jesus Christ are Called the Official Catholic Orthodoxology meaning that we all are the same. Love always YBIC

One must remember that the Holy Bible is NOT the only authority in regards to rightful living. Jesus established HIS Catholic Church before the NT part of the Bible was ever written. His Church taught, governed and sanctified under the leadership of the Peter, (the first Pope) and others that followed, for nearly 400 years on the teachings of Jesus to the Apostles. Sacred Tradition goes hand in hand with Sacred Scripture and they belong to the Catholic Church. And they were not seperated until the protestant reformation and just look whats happened to the protestants ever since. That is enough to prove to me that Jesus keeps HIS word and protects HIS Church. One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church built on the ROCK and 40,000 denominations built on sand. Wake up folks, do you really think all these lies and divisions are pleasing to Our Lord??? HE prayed we would all be ONE in HIM. Shall we start working for that instead of fighting each other. The Truth is the Truth if NO one believes it, a lie is still a lie, even if EVERYONE believes it. Bishop Sheen said it right.

Yes, I just stated that, but the Protestant’s were disobedient to Jesus Christ Teaching in where our Lord said “Obey Everything” and when they split because Luther did not get his way, the Killings began by them first and than us and then them and then us, the problem is that needs to stop and the killing of words needs to end too. love always YBIC

So you’re saying the RC did not kill or persecute heretics?

Amen, I say to you, The Holy Spirit of the Lord is upon you and your wisdom is truth, I concur with you 100%, I am a self taught Catholic and I attend mass as often as I can, I love My Christ and I love all of my enemies and the enemies of our Church, Pray that way for us to continue to grow in Love of Jesus Christ and His Only Church and for all those misinformed brothers, pray hard and pray often, PRAY, MEDITATE, AND FAST. love always Mike YBIC

A noble thought: yet, Rome sees the Orthodox Churches as “defective”; the Eastern Orthodox Church does not see the Pope of Rome or the Western Church as in communion with herself. Protestants may lump Orthodox together with the Catholics–but this is mostly due to a misunderstanding of what Orthodoxy is (i.e., the idea amongst many Protestants and even Catholics that Orthodoxy is simply Catholicism without the Pope, when in fact there are important theological and spiritual differences).
