šŸ™‚ hi mgrfin my memory though lacking recalls God saying He shortened man’s life span cause they lived to long thus having a longer list of sins against them. don’t remember if that was written before or after the flood.šŸ™‚
I think you are remembering this,

GEN.6:3 Then the LORD said: "My spirit shall not remain in man forever, since he is but flesh. His days shall comprise one hundred and twenty years. from the NAB.

I was not there I did not witness any of the events that are recorded in either the old or new testament. Here is what I do know:

I find it know more difficult to believe that in six 24 hour periods the The Most High God brought forth all that creation than I do to believe that Jesus was nailed to a cross died was buried and on the 3rd day rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of Glory. If it states that Noah live over 500 year then I guess thats how long he lived. I have this theory. One day I will stand before God for judgment and he will ask me to explain why I made the choice and decisions I made and why I told things to other that I did. The ones that I don’t have to wonder about are the one I learned from scripture and Mother Church. I don’t know how old the earth is and I don’t see that it really matters if it is 6000 or 600,000 except that according to the Scriptures 6000 is closer to What God is saying.

I used to be catholic but I left the church due to a disagreement with the church about homosexuality. That’s my reason.

Manny,

I said ā€œWere the scriptures any good to the Jews? They didn’t have any infallible interpreter.ā€

Since nothing in your post hints at infallibility I am left wondering why you even bothered responding to me.
They were the ā€œgo toā€ guy when issues of religious Jewish Law came into place. For example, King Herod seek the advise of the scribes and priests about the King of the Jews born in Bethelem. Why do you suppose he seek their counsel?

So, do you believe the Pharisees were infallible?

So, do you believe the Pharisees were infallible?
They represented the Seat of Moses and were expert on the Mosaic Law. At a time, they were but their authority was taken away from them by God for rejecting his Son.

What was your ā€œdisagreementā€?

(if you don’t mind me asking)
He disagreed on the Church teaching on homosexuality. Perhaps, he doesn’t think being an active homosexual is a serious sin against God.

Do Catholics believe the flood was a real deal? Or is it like protestants, some do some don’t?
The Catholic Church does not interpret the Bible verse by verse. The Catholic Church, having determined, by the power of the Holy Spirit, which of the many writings in the early days of Christian history were Divinely inspired, leaves Catholics free to discern for personal interpretation the meaning of the Bible, as long as it agrees with the Church, that is Jesus Christ’s teaching, in faith and morals.

Do you realize that was not an answer? That was political double speak. Is that what your church stands for? šŸ˜‰

Just answer clearly. Don’t be afraid.šŸ˜‰

šŸ™‚ hi namesake historians have proved ther was a flood in the region in which the early Jewish peoples lived.and it was large enough that one could have believed the whole world was flooded.by the church we are not required to believe all in the bible in a literal sense. we are however required to believe what the church infallibly interpits. have you given your reason for not being catholic, i haven’t noticed your real reson posted or maybe i am blind lol

Did ya ever wonder why the Egyptians didn’t know about it. I mean, the flood would have been a big deal, and the Egyptians were pretty big on recording history. They were real close to where it was supposed to have happened. But they didn’t mention the flood. Why do you suppose that is?šŸ˜‰

hi namesake are we suposed listen to the Egytians when it comes to matters of scripture? i see you avioded the rest of my post. where the early egyptians present today when the archelogists where searching for evidence of this flood. it was a non christian documentary which was aired a few years back.

Actually, alot of cultures have their own version of the flood story.

It’s earliest depiction is called ā€œThe Epic of Gilgameshā€. I believe it was Babylonian.

In addition to The Epic of Gilgamesh there are story’s in early Asian writings of a world wide flood. the real beauty of all the other story’s out side of the biblical one is that they all place it around the same point in time.

I think one of the incarnations of Vishnu was a fish that helped save humanity from a great flood…

K, i used to be christian, so i guess it qualifies me to answer this question.
the catholic church is corrupt
all u guys want is money, and to superimpose your beliefs on other people
as i am now an atheist, i would like to simply laugh at you,
and your beleifs.
Question: When was the last time you experienced a miracle:shrug:
Answer: u never have
the bible says that dead people came back alive, did my best friend’s mom come back alive after she died of cancer? No.
So all I am left to assume is that, according to you, god killed my friend’s mom. he created everything, didn’t he? including cancer?
ok im done for now
