All Cretans are liars.
I am a liar.
Therefore, I’m a Cretan. I can safely torch my Indian passport. 🙂

(Oh wait - I was lying all along.) 😃
There’s no stoppin’ the cretins from hoppin’
You gotta keep it beatin’
For all the hoppin’ cretins

Cretin! Cretin!

I’m gonna go for a whirl with my cretin girl
My feet won’t stop
Doin’ the Cretin Hop

Cretin! Cretin!

1-2-3-4
Cretins wanna hop some more
4-5-6-7
All good cretins go to heaven

Kyrie never came back to this thread. I’m guessing he was trolling.

We continue to love our children even when they sin or break household and school rules, because we know our children are much more than their behaviors. How much more our Father in Heaven loves us in spite of our sin, because He knows who we really are. We are to imitate Him, and extend His love to others. However most parents know that coddling or permitting bad behavior is not love. The Catholic Church requires neither coddling nor permissiveness in regard to sin.

The “Catechism of the Catholic Church” which John Paul II called a reference (guide?) for Catholic doctrine, states:
“[Homosexuals] must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity”
Accept the person not the behavior.

Kyrie Eleison,
Catholic teaching is a little more complex than some Protestant teaching because we look at all teachings and not isolated phrases or even paragraphs. We see that persons who suffer from homosexual attractions are still persons, and Christ commanded us to care for other persons, to see Him in them. At the same time, the Church teaches that if they act on their temptations, they sin.

Just as we look at any other sinner, including ourselves, to find Christ in them while being against their sins, so we should treat the a person who suffers from this particular temptation.

“There but for the grace of God go I.”

Therefore the Catholic Church is Pro-Gay.
The logic twists on definitions. Your conclusion is correct, given the proper definitions, as I am sure you too are pro-Gay, if you truly are like Christ who we pro-sinner, pro-tax collector, pro-prostitute.

It hasn’t even been twenty-four hours yet. 🤷

He has been here for several months and has over two hundred posts. It is better to address the point rather than engage in ad hominem.

Mea maxima culpa.

The post has been addressed well enough. Kyrie is clearly confusing acceptance of the person with acceptance of the actions of a person.

The “Catechism of the Catholic Church” which John Paul II called a reference (guide?) for Catholic doctrine, states:

“[Homosexuals] must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity”

Now, while it is true the same source says homosexual acts must not be approved of; notwithstanding, Catholics are forbidden by the authority of this source from refusing to accept anyone who engages in these acts. Therefore, according to the Catechism, a Catholic violates his religious obligation if he ever dares refuse to “accept” a person who voluntarily engages in these acts; and, not only that, he must accept him or her with “respect, compassion and sensitivity”.

Therefore, homosexuality can be practiced by any Catholic (or anyone on Earth) with impunity; for, by virtue of the inclination or the practice, no Catholic may refuse to accept such a person. Not only that, they “must” be accepted with “respect, compassion and sensitivity”.

Therefore, the Catholic Church believes and enforces on all its members the absolute acceptance of homosexuality.

Hence, I might add, the statements of Pope Francis about never judging someone with a homosexual inclination [and hence “Brother JReducation” saying the Church is not opposed to homosexuality]. Homosexuality, therefore, is accepted by the Catholic Church and there can be no possible repercussions for engaging in it; for, even if someone does, by virtue of doing so they MUST be accepted by Catholics.

Indeed, homosexuals are the only people on Earth explicitly stated by the modern Catechism that a Catholic “must accept” as such; and, moreover, with “sensitivity, respect and compassion”. There is no exception.

Therefore, Catholics are obliged to accept homosexual acts and behaviour and must “accept” anyone and everyone who engages in them by virtue of their engaging in them.

Consequently, the passport to acceptance by Catholics with “respect, sensitivity and compassion” is indulging in homosexual acts and behaviour. I.e., if you practice homosexuality every Catholic - Pope to layman - “must”, in virtue of that fact, “accept” you.

Therefore the Catholic Church is Pro-Gay.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

We accept and love all persons. But not what they do. Love and truth go together. We love them and tell them the truth -such actions are gravely sinful in nature. True life in Christ - and that involves rejecting that which is gravely sinful. “Repent and believe the Gospel”. They --like all - must live in chastity not grave sin.

Catechism:

Quotes:

"Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.“They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”

“Homosexual persons are called to chastity”

scborromeo.org/ccc/p3s2c2a6.htm#II

We love and accept persons – proposing to them the gospel. In doing so we do not accept or approve of that which is sinful. But rather: “Repent and believe the Gospel” -that call that is to us all.

In other news, the Catholic Church believes Peter is a rock…a literal rock, therefore, you must listen to rock music. It’s what Jesus listened to when we was in France.

And in other news, Zachary and I are both sheep, because Jesus is the Good Shepherd. To commemorate this, let us reply to all posts by the OP in baa language.

Baa baa, baa? Baa. Baa baa baa baa, baa baa. 😛

The Saints:

“You can win more converts with a spoonful of honey than with a barrelful of vinegar.” St. Francis de Sales

“You will accomplish more by kind words and a courteous manner than by anger or sharp rebuke, which should never be used except in necessity.” -St. Angela Merici

“Love the sinner, hate the sin.” -St. Augustine of Hippo

“He alone loves the Creator perfectly who manifests a pure love for his neighbor.” -St. Bede the Venerable

Our Lord:
The Call of Matthew.
9As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. 10While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. 11The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. 13Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

I will never understand those who feel self-righteous, even virtuous, for shunning gay people. If Jesus were here I have no doubt that He would associate with them just as He did the sinners in the scripture. Are we not supposed to “do as Jesus would do”?

Secondly, it is clear that homosexual acts are grievously sinful. So are heterosexual acts outside of sanctified marriage. So are murder, theft, and missing mass. In fact, if your standard is that you must shun (the opposite of accept) those who commit mortal sin, then you will find yourself without a faith community! There would likely be few if any members acceptable to you.

We have always and consistently been told that we MUST love our neighbors. I remember no exceptions to that teaching.

Hate the sin of apostacy. Love the apostate.
Hate the sin of murder. Love the murderer.
Hate the sin of adultery. Love the adulterer.
Hate the sin of homosexual acts. Love the homosexual.

Loving them means this: Love them as you would yourself. Love them as Jesus would love them.

God will be the judge of their actions. He will also judge us by our love.

"The human person is a good towards which the only proper attitude is love."
-Venerable John Paul II
