If you could have any exotic animal in the world...What would you choose?

Your avatar made me think how awesome a falcon would be, but I’m still sticking with tamarins.

I have an aquarium with ghost shrimp, a black molly, a fantail, a few guppies, and a snail.

The snail is by far my favorite. Cephalopods and gastropods are so alien. I love it whenever she crawls to the top of the water and uses her siphon to suck in oxygen. Then she lets go and freefalls to the bottom.

A snow leopard! They’re so beautiful. I know it would probably eat me, but just imagine having that big fuzzy kitty sit in your lap.

Just so everyone knows, I’m a hawk, not a falcon. Hawks have a simple curved beak, while falcons have a notch on their beak. We carry our prey with our talons while falcons kill prey with their beak.

Quick Fact:

Peregrine falcons are the fastest of all animals. They can dive at speeds exceeding 240 mph.

One of the “cutest” animals I’ve seen. Do they get along ok with cats and dogs? 🙂

I would like to say Orcas and Dolphins, but they live in such a different world than we do. It’s hard for us to socialize properly. Definitely some of the most intelligent of animals. Many argue they should not be in captivity at all. Sea World is a controversial place, seems to me.

…probably not. They are mostly loners and wouldn’t like being around other critters. Plus, they mark their territory with their anal glands so it would be quite the stink-fest.

Still adorable so I’ll stick by my choice for this game 😉

I"m a loner mostly, too, so I’ll bring one home, and maybe we can come to some sort of agreement regarding scent marking and not terrorizing the neighbor’s cat.

Well, maybe not the best house pet as you said, but we shall wave our magical domestication wand, and they will behave well when they do come in now and then to sleep on the bed, jump on the sofa, and eat their red panda stew before going back out to play.

Orcas are amazing hunters. There’s a documentary recently released on Netflix, “The Hunt” I think, that shows all the different tactics they use to separate baby humpbacks from the parents, or to snatch young sea lions.

Yep…whenever a pack of dolphins encounters an Orca, they “run for the hills” as fast as they can go!

Seals are also highly intelligent. This one escaped an Orca by jumping onto the boat of some tourists. I think the poor seal did the only thing he could do. The Orca is not well pleased about this little maneuver, to say the least.

Unless I missed it, no one picked Unicorns. I know, you’re saying they are mythical. But, Ken Ham has them on the ark. And, then, then there’s that great Irish Rover’s Unicorn song. Fact, or fiction. You decide.

As she removes tongue from cheek.

Me too! Two guppies, a betta fish and a nerite snail. Lots of plants too, java fern, etc. The betta can’t stand the snail, who is oblivious to him. Whenever the snail is on the glass, the betta flairs and puts on an empty show of aggression. He doesn’t mind when the snail is on the gravel or plants. The guppies are faster than the betta, and they more or less all live in peace.

I used to work in a pet store. I’ve kept (not necessarily legally, but it was a long time ago) an alligator, an owl, a rattlesnake, snapping turtles, a 12’ reticulated python, a 6’ red-tailed boa constrictor, amazon parrots, a cockatoo, cockatiels, a nurse shark, leopard sharks, ferrets, and a desert tortoise (the only one left. I’ve had it for 46 years now). But I’m done with exotic animals.

On the topic of fish, I saw some giant aquariums in Las Vegas, I think it was, well, some were of medium size. They were salt water aquariums and the fish were really quite amazing looking. Very bright colors, they tended to be quite thin in one direction and quite large as seen from a side profile.
