Union is not with any one individual leader. Union is with the Church. 😉
If the Pope of Rome decided to return to Orthodoxy, there would be many meetings and dialogues. It would not be a quick process. If all went well, there may be an eighth Ecumenical Council!

But this is all speculation of course. 😃

And who represents the Church? (Who is Peter’s successor, according to the Orthodox Church?)

If there is no leadership, then in what would he be in union? How would his life and his practice of the faith change?

What would he do differently after becoming Orthodox from what he does now? (Other than perhaps wear a long beard and a tall black hat?) 🤷

With the Patriarchs and metroploitians of the Orthodox churches led, but not dominated, by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.

He would take the role as the prime bishop on the church just as in the Early Church as the Ecumenical Patriarch holds today
 
Probably Orthodox of either kind, though possibly a deist or something. Would never become Protestant again it seems about the least logical of the options given (though more logical than Mormons etc.)

So could he be both over the Orthodox and the Pope of Rome?

Or could he appoint the Patriarch over the Orthodox and as to be under him as he would be the prime bishop?

He was the Pope, before. He is the Pope, now. I think that he would continue to be the Pope, except that now the Orthodox would be in union with him - but we would all be saying “Let’s pretend that the Pope has converted to a different religion, and become Orthodox, so that they can be happy to follow him as their leader.”

Nothing from his end would actually change. But the Orthodox Bishops would be required to follow him instead of the Patriarch of Constantinople.

So, what would change? He would be the “primary Bishop.” They would call it “Primacy of honour” and he would just say, “Okay, here’s what ‘honour’ looks like: We work together, and when we have agreed that thus and so is or ought to be a Doctrine of the Church, I’ll proclaim it from the See of Peter, and I’ll say something like, “I define and declare that thus and so is required for belief in the Holy Roman and Orthodox Catholic Church, and to all who disagree we say ‘Anathema sit,’” and you will give it to the people in your Dioceses or eparchies or whatever they are, and they will know that they have to believe/obey this because we have agreed on it, and I have declared it.” And the Bishops will say, “Um, yeah - okay,” and then it will be just like it always was before. 👍
