Your first baptism is still valid. You are welcome back in the Church at any time.

God bless šŸ™‚
Welcoming words speak much more than angry words. I don’t want to lash out, but if I were to judge my faith on my feelings like just about everybody who leaves the church, I would’ve taken the replies from this thread into serious measurment. But, I’m sure most all of you have tried talking sense into mum for a while and have become frustrated. Honestly, you’re playing into the ā€œfeelingsā€ game when you do that and silence is probably a better tool.

But since I don’t rely solely on my personal feelings when it comes to my faith, I don’t get upset and weigh my church against an evangelical church down the street. Heck! If I were living in the dumps and hooked on drugs, etc, etc, I probably could’ve used the crutch that the evangelicals and fundamentalists provide. But after a couple years of minimalist faith, I would question why my faith isn’t truly growing into a full flowering that does nothing but honor and glorify my God. Growth into a faith that completely detaches one from themselves and gives all, whether quickly or over time, to God COMPLETELY, is the true growth and the true faith. When one settles for warm feelings, loudly blurted AMENS! and a preacher on fire, they have settled for something that applies to themselves and becomes a centered faith. ie… My personal Lord and Savior. Yes, He is that, but He’s much more than somebody who comes into your heart. His worship is much more than some good preaching. It’s much more than some christian rock band concert. it’s much more than alter-less alter calls. All these feed into the PERSONAL attributes of faith. Recongnize that the communion of saints may catch some word play, but is NOT lived out. Christ’s body is give word play? Sounds familiar, huh. Everything is reduced to symbols as if humans are merely little symbolic functions in God’s scheme. The worship is not focused on what is going on in heaven. The worship is not a participation of the Word and Body, but only of the word. For thousands of years, the worship was a participation of the word and when Christ came he gave us his body. Why would you reject this? They call themselves bible christians, but lack just about everything in the bible. The Body of Christ, missing. The incense, missing. The liturgy, missing. The alter, missing. It’s all spelled out so clearly in the Bible, but it’s all so catholic and taboo.

A reduction of faith into personal attractions hardly becomes a part of the vine. It’s in effect, it’s own tree where leaves are grown and fall to the ground with more seeds to grow more trees that live on their own. The vine has a purpose. It’s our participation in the true Body, Blood, Soul and divininty of Christ. Not a chance to become another acorn.

Apostasy is a grave mortal sin and those who would countenace or support it as something positive merit very firm correction. The whole ā€œI’m obeying the Lordā€ nonsense is just that–nonsense–and should be exposed for the ridiculous statement that it is. Apostasy is not ā€œobedienceā€ to God.

to say a few words, what would they be? Keep it brief …
Thank you God! Thank you God! Thank you God! Thank you for your gift! Thank you God!

God Bless,
Maria

ā€œThank you God! Thank you God! Thank you God! Thank you for your gift! Thank you God!ā€ šŸ‘

Amen, sister!

And asking Catholics for a few words to say as an ex-Catholic gets baptized into a different denomination, is like asking a rabbi for directions to the local pork retailer. How rude! :tsktsk:

Hey, mum, my wife would like to also marry our neighbor Sally. I think we will ask Scylla (newly ordained into the Unitarian Online Church šŸ˜‰ ) to perform the sacrament. What color dress can my wife wear? Is white tacky?

Mercedes is so right. I just happened to look at this thread and then remembered all the efforts that everyone put in to try to get you to re-examine your decision. I even posted a few times. Your request to have us help you in your sacrilege is analogous to my request above. :whacky:

Adding my recent post since the 20 min ran out.

Edit - Request to close was becasue the baptism has already occured and because people feel insulted by mum asking us for this, not because of anyone being uncharitable (just to clarify as I got a PM asking me what I meant)

By the way, I didn’t bump it up many places. mumof5, best thing to do if you don’t want the thread anymore is send a PM to a moderator asking them to close the thread - they normally let the OP request close of their own thread. Just waiting for it to disappear could take ages if people decide they’ve got something to talk about here.

Oh ok, if I’d known that I’d have asked for it to be removed before it got bumped up again by someone else this morning. Oh well, you’ve taken care of it now. I invited them to remove the other huge thread in the thread but they chose not to I guess.

I haven’t even said anything contentious this morning… lol

I haven’t taken care of it. I can’t really report a thread to be closed to the moderators unless I can point out a rule of the forums that has been broken in the thread. The mods would be happy to let this thread live as it’s not actually breaking any rules, it’s just that no one wants it any more. (I was just stating my opinion, I have no authority over threads or rules around here). You need to PM them to close it yourself.
