I’ve known several couples in real life who did this (or rather
didn’t do this

) and they managed just fine. I considered going the non-kissing route for a time, but only when I was single and never when I was dating.

For me, “frigidity” would have played no role in it whatsoever. It would have rather been a very difficult sacrifice in an effort to better live out my call to chastity.
So I don’t necessarily think that such an approach is
always unhealthy. It certainly
can be, but isn’t always.
I would probably agree with MasonDoggy that it would depend on the reason.
Of course, it is irrelevant to me now as I am married.
I appreciated your post,
Joe5859, simply because you seem to be the one of the few posters here who thinks NOT kissing is acceptable and that a not-kissing stance NOT necessarily an indicator of frigidity, asexuality, homosexuality, autism, etc. (Unless I am interpreting people wrong and the idea is merely to be careful that such issues are not in play.)
I must confess I am somewhat disturbed by the many posters who seem to be saying not just that kissing before marriage is not a sin (which I agree with), or that a no-kissing stance would be deal-breaker personally, which I respect as well, but seem to be implying that EVERYONE should kiss before marriage, and that there must be something wrong with people who hold a no-kissing stance, that such people must be frigid, asexual, homosexual, etc.
You do realize that these are the same accusations secular people throw at people who have a no-sex-before-marriage stance?
I also find it very interesting that although the poll results are running basically 50/50 between continuing the relationship with those boundaries and ending the relationship, most of the actual posts seem to skew towards ending the relationship. It makes me wonder if people afraid to state the contrary, for fear they will be accused of bring “frigid” too?
Xantippe, I have agreed with your posts on the original Duggar courtship topic, but your statement that “I would be very concerned if any of my children were involved with someone who wouldn’t kiss before marriage”, actually reminds me of a post by
BlueEyedLady a while back when she stated that she’d be concerned if any of her children were involved with someone who didn’t have
sex before marriage!
However, it seems that whenever such a person either posts on the site, or whether a poster asks for advice because a significant other wants to have sex before marriage, most posters automatically assume a person who thinks sex before marriage is acceptable, MUST be motivated ONLY by selfish lust and should be kicked to the curb immediately. Even though, from a completely secular POV, isn’t the idea that people should actually have sex to confirm “sexual compatibility” isn’t THAT different from the idea that they should kiss or “make out” to test for this.
This doesn’t mean I endorse sex before marriage, but perhaps we should be a LITTLE more charitable both to people whose physical boundaries are more strict than our own (instead of accusing them of being frigid), and those whose boundaries are more lax than their own (instead of accusing them of being selfish lustful sinners)?
