I think it should also be pointed out that many men who marry younger women from other countries are also under the impression such women are more “submissive” and easier to control than a “liberated” Western woman. Maybe not as much the former USSR, but certainly among those who seek out women from Asian countries for marriage. And many assume that since they have more financial resources and life experience than the woman, that will also make it easy for them to control her. To me, this aspect of it is even more disturbing than the idea of wanting a younger woman because of her looks.

I think this kind of approach to marriage is just as questionable in terms of validity, as that of a scheming foreign woman who marries an American man just for the sake of a green card planning on divorcing as soon as she gets it.

ETA: Should also point out that there are also a fair number of MEN who run marriage scams for immigration benefits. One my mother’s female friends fell victim to such a con artist.

I know a woman who met a man in Egypt online. She went to visit him, at his request. She is about 100 lbs. overweight and was 20 years older than the man. People warned her not to go, but she paid no attention. She just wanted a man. While in Egypt, the man cleaned out her bank accounts, checking and savings. She returned to the US alone, broke and bankrupt. Ultimately, she lost her home for non-payment of the mortgage. Despite all this, she’s still searching for a man on the Internet!

Beautiful Indian woman visiting Switzerland until the 16th of next month. Nurse by occupation and able to take care of the elderly. Absolutely must marry before that time! Please call XXXXXXX.

What they’re looking for is pretty obvious! They want to marry before their visa expires so they don’t have to leave Switzerland! Most Swiss women would never take care of an invalid. They would tell them to go to the Pflegezentrum, which is the town nursing home, and is really very well run, with excellent care.

When I lived in Switzerland, I lived across the street from a woman from Sri Lanka. She was a widow when I met her, but she had married a Swiss man who had undergone a kidney transplant and needed care. She was a nurse, and she did nurse him, something a Swiss woman would not do.

Right now, the Swiss women are looking for husbands from Africa, with Kenya being the preferred country.

They seem to be quite happy married to each other. Her husband on the other hand is more mellow and laid back. They complement each other quite well.

Interestingly neither one of them like living in Japan or Switzerland. They find the US, Hawaii in particular, to be more their type.

There are a few Swiss men who aren’t bossy and controlling. A lot of Japanese love Hawaii. In Honolulu you see more Japanese than Hawaiian.

I found Japan to be the only place where I did not feel at home. It was beautiful, and the people were nice, though.

I had the opposite experience. Japan was one of the few places I did feel,at home. Thailand and Singapore, not so much.

Having grown up in Hawaii, Japan was more or less quite familiar due to the high number of people of Japanese descent living in Hawaii.
