I don’t know the email addy of a single INC member.

Aren’t they a cult?

Do they exist anywhere besides the Phillipines?

I don’t know any personally either (as far as I know. I am married to a Filipina and all of her family and associates are either Catholic or Evangelicals) but I’ve seen their preachers on TV. They seem to think their best argument for being the Church that Christ founded is the fact that their church is named “Church of Christ.” Pretty childish.
Aren’t they a cult?
Cult is kind of a perjorative term. It implies that the leaders of the group have some kind of mind or social control over the members. I don’t believe that’s the case with InC–they are just another erroneous sect founded upon the personality of one man–an ex-Catholic priest, of all things.

They seem to exist anywhere there are sizable numbers of ex-patriate Filipinos. I’ve seen their church buildings (usually very elaborate versions of Catholic churches) in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix. They like to brag “If we build a beautiful church, the people will come.”
The congregations are almost exclusively Filipino, a lack of diversity which further belies their claim to be the True Church.

Just to correct–Felix Manalo, the INC’s founder, never was a Catholic priest as far as I know. But they are a cult, as they view Felix Manalo to be the true “savior”, and see Jesus as not the Emmanuel, but merely a human (their teachings in fact deny any passages pertaining to Christ as divine).

They are not cult. It is a religion. an arianism.

They exist all over the world. USA is their 2nd country with the largest member.

Funny thing is, most Catholics here in the Philippines consider them a cult.

You are correct. Thanks.

viktor,

the first site that you list is a fundamentalist site. Isn’t that leading them out of one wrong sect to another? I read the site and it said to “avoid any church which claims to be the true church”, kind of like the Catholic Church does!

Anyway, I don’t think it’s wise to use this site. Stick to leading them into the Catholic Church.

Iglesia ni Kristo is the Philippines’ version of Protestantism, and Felix Manalo is the Philippines’ Martin Luther. Although not a clergy unlike Luther, the foundation of his protests is deeply rooted in the Methodist-Episcopalian theology. He jumped from one denomination to another, until finally after getting dissatisfied with the seventh day adventists, formed his own church. This false church has spread all over the world, but consists of mainly gone astrayed Filipinos. It has been regarded as a cult after Manalo claimed himself a prophet. Later on when he died, his son succeeded him and wrote a book attacking the divinity of Christ, thus making them not only protestants but heretics. This church is the public enemy no.1 of the Catholic Church in the Philippines. They attack the church in any ways they can imagine. Statistically, they are considered a minority nevertheless. We can only pray for their conversion just like any protestant. :gopray2:

is that a fundamentalist site? Sorry i dont know. 🙂

But i guess their examination is correct. I watch different programs of Iglesia ni Kristo and i agree on the point of the examiner on that site…

It is difficult to argue to members of INC especially most of the members are converts from Catholic Church and you don’t have a evidence to show that their teaching is wrong. . They had experienced the traditions of catholic church and their mind was polluted by these modern day arianism. Unluckily they knew the traditions but not the Traditions and the whole of the Cathechism.

There are over 27,000 Non-Catholic Christian or Non-Christian Religions, all pointing, or all practically pointing to some alleged error by the Catholic Church.

Their point I think is TO SHOW THAT CHRIST’ PROMISE THAT THE GATES OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THE CHURCH WHOSE FOUNDATION IS PETER THE APOSTLE - IS A LIE!!!

The way to bring them to their senses is to ask them examples of MIRACLES THAT GOD DID IN THEIR CHURCH, BECAUSE MIRACLES IS ONE WAY THAT GOD TESTIFIES THAT HE IS ON JESUS’ SIDE.

Didn’t God testify that He is on Elijah’s side by SENDING A LIGHTNING BOLT TO LIGHT UP ELIJAH"S WATER SOAKED FIREWOOD PILE???

For example. What happened to Manalo’s remains??? Was it embalmed??? If it was not embalmed, did it decay??? Are there members of Iglesia Ni Cristo who died, were not embalmed, but whose bodies never decayed??? Are there cases were Iglesia Ni Cristo members were miraculously cured through the prayers of Iglesia Ni Cristo Church Officials? Are there Miracles of the Holy Eucharist in INC? Does INC have apparitions of Christ or of the Virgin Mary???

Is the INC the Church in the Philippines which makes a list of its members in one column and their money contributions in another column? And then if the money contribution is ZERO, EVEN IF THE MEMBER IS ALIVE, FOR CHURCH PURPOSES THAT MEMBER IS DESCRIBED/ CLASSIFIED AS DEAD???

Someone told me that INC Church men sit on one side and women on the other side. Is it true and why?

On my way:

That is true.Their teaching rationale is that,it will prevent you from being tempted to ogle at any gorgeous opposite sex, which is very superficial.I’ve been around them, most of the members,if not all are very sensitive or gets agitated easily, when you question or challenge their faith. They resort to violence, physical and even murder when they feel they are losing the debate or initially friendly discussion.Stay away from this group, just pray for them that they will discover the truth of RCC.Anyone, who’s interested in what I am referrring to,please PM me.

Sounds more like a cult to me. Violence and murder wow is that what they preach.

Hi everyone. I’m Anton, a Filipino Catholic. For those seeking info about the iglesia ni manalo(felix manalo founded it, not christ therefore it should be called cult of manalo) you may visit the debate pages of the website www.network54.com/forum and see for yourselves the inconsistencies of iglesia ministers about their arguments against learned Catholics.

I highly recommend the recently published book titled “THE POWER AND THE GLORY: THE CULT OF MANALO” by Ross Tipon. This is a very controversial book because it exposes the fallacies of this cult and the manalos used their vast impluence in attempting the publication of this book by threatening its author and suing him thereby suppressing his freedom of expression.

If Satanic Verses if for muslims, this book is for manalo cult.

they claim that their founder, felix manalo is the messenger from the far east. i’ve seen some of their programs, and observed that they usually attack another sect here, which is called “iglasia ng dios kay cristo jesus, haligi at sandigan ng katotohanan”(from that passage of saint paul in 1 corinthians,) or more commonly,“ang dating daan.” sometimes their claim is just hogwash. one time, i saw that they believe that Constantine called the bishops and altered the bible so it would support it’s claim that Christ was divine. they also do not believe in the trinity. they also hold the dietary laws of the old testament seiously.

If you want to see a debate between an INC member and a Catholic, view this: pinoyexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222868&page=4 angdaan is an INC member while losav is a Catholic (I’m also in that debate btw). losav makes a good analysis of the INC here: pinoyexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232696
Another debate, though not primarily centered on the INC, is here: pinoyexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227174 It’s really about Eli Soriano, a preacher who is very much an arch nemesis of the INC (though the guy isn’t exactly commendable himself in some aspects, if you’ll read the comments about him).
