Ignatius Press can and should produce a complete, one-volume study Bible

Compared to Christian circles, they’re really aren’t any good Catholic study Bibles. I stand by that. The Ryrie is better with all its Protestant flaws than an NAB with some Jesuit commentary. Lol.

NAB is terrible and so is Jesuit commentary. Yikes. I want commentary about the context, the original language in key phrases, historical background (including who wrote it, the audience, the circumstances/context, geography, geo-political status, etc.), along with visuals like maps and such. Meaning, what the Protestant study bibles have, but with Catholic apologists writing the commentary. References to the CCC are fine, just include the number and let me look that up on my own.

When you find it let me know. Meanwhile I think the Ignatius Study Bible once finished is our best bet assuming they make it, and yes, I’d gladly pay $100.

I want this as a single volume, high-quality soft leather-bound with the high-quality thin pages with print. If you want to see it done right (materials/quality-wise), look at Zondervan study bibles.
And I want all the pages waterproof and rugged enough for the outdoors! Hey, if I’m gonna dream I may as well dream big 😉

Not sure why the reply went to you Thucy… excuse me, please )

AND…

Most important wrt the Bible
  • is that one actually and prayerfully learns from God’s WORD
With Faith - the Author Himself can Guide us - And, we must Believe that for that to be so.

I find it interesting that no one has mentioned one of the best Catholic Study Bibles that’s usually the one recommended for academic courses at Catholic universities: the Catholic Study Bible by Oxford Press. It’s simply one of the most in-depth study bibles published today.
Probably because it’s based on the NABRE.

Which is the closest translation we have to the lectionary that the Church uses in the United States, the Philippines and a few other countries.

While we’re at it, we need some premium bible offerings. I’m talking thick paper, smyth sewn, edge lined, gilded pages, and goatskin or calfskin leather. I can’t find any, but the choices among Protestant translations are numerous. I have a Schuyler Quentel NIV in blue goatskin and it is incredible (pictured below). I have a NASB LPUT in calfskin that is built like a tank.

Looks like it was bound by “Bensbibles”
If I ever have the extra $, I’ll get him to do a rebind.

Some early editions for the NAB (not the NABRE) came with premium binding and cover material. Sadly, it appears there wasn’t a large enough market for such a premium Catholic bible (at least in regards to the NAB translation) for bible manufacturers to keep offering such a Catholic bible.

I will gladly purchase a 2 vol. OT (which is what they are announcing.) I have the NT already. A 3 vol. study bible would be fantastic. A single volume one would be great too. But I am also a Kindle reader, so I will also get the OT in Kindle format when it arrives. That way, I will have not only the entire Ignatius Press Study Bible, but several other bibles (Including the Haydock Bible) in my Kindle, for going to bible study etc.

Bottom Line - Allow God’s Spirit to Guide one with regard to His Word.

Wow, that is indeed maybe the most beautiful Bible I’ve ever seen.

Also, your name keeps making me think of Donald Senior, C.P.
