Monkey has about 99% matching DNA to the human beings. What would you think of that?

We all have our cross to carry. Why would God create this world and allow people to commit sins?
Yeah…so? we evolved.

A good point I must say. But I(like many many christians) believe that homosexuality is not a sin.

Don’t listen to people who say who you are is wrong(well listen to them, but don’t let them trick you) more and more studies are saying that being gay is genetic, heck, there was even a study not too long ago that said gay men and straight woman have very silmilar brains. That would explain it quite well.

Why would god create you to be this way if it was wrong? he wouldn’t. Always remember that, I do.
Scientists have been trying to come up with a “gay” gene for years, it’s a hoax. There is no such thing.

And God created you this way, because everyone has their struggles, hardships, and suffering so that they may hopefully put their full faith in God and become closer to him because of them. I struggle with high anxiety each and every day, and I must say, one good thing that has come of it is that I’ve grown closer to God because of it. I’ve started to pray more, and have become much more dedicated to my faith than I have ever been in my entire life. I know that this anxiety is God’s way of wanting me to be closer to him.

God has his own plan, but it’s up to you if you want to follow it.

I know they haven’t been saying being gay is wrong, but homosexual acts are wrong. That’s what I meant, sorry.

Let me reword it, never let anyone ever tell you your love for someone is wrong.
No one even said your love was wrong. I am attracted to other guys, I love my ex-boyfriend-now more accurately titled “brother”. I would even go so far as to say that I am loving him even more now because I am not allowing either of us to engage in sinful acts that offend God and hurt our relationship with him (and then by default damage the relationship between us).

Something doesn’t sound exactly right with your post here…unless I’m mistaken, isn’t homosexuality in and of itself be a sin and not just homosexual acts?

Not according the the teaching of the Catholic Church. It is disorded, but it is not sinful in itself. I am only sinning if I lust after another man (or woman) or engage in any type of sexual relations with another man (or woman). Besides that, it is something that I just pray for Jesus to take away. But since he has not so far, it is just a cross I get to joyfully carry.

Peace and good!

No one knows if a gay gene is real or not
🙂

I really don’t believe god would make people gay if it was sinful
😊

Yes! it is up to us to follow it! I agree

Some definitions are in order:

SSA - same sex attraction - not a sin if not acted upon

Chastity - admirable

The act - always a sin and intrinsically evil.

Sigh, I just gave you answers to questions you ask, and you shoot back answers. If you do that, then why make this topic? It might as well just be a debate between if homosexuality is a sin or not…

And if you don’t believe that he wouldn’t, then that’s your choice.

I’m not looking for answers anymore, this thread is over a year old
😊

Someone bumped it.

Ah, that would explain that.

And thank you for clearing that misunderstanding of mine up for me about church teachings.

The act of homosexuality is a grave sin.
As for monkey, what was your point of comparing a gay man to a straight woman?

Those are indeed the catholic teachings on the subject, you are 100% right on that.

First, you need to stop all sexual activities that you are commiting. If you arent Baptised catholic you need to be. And third, the only way you can get to Heaven is to go to Confession ( try to find a priest ordained in the Old Rite which is before 1968) and confess all of your sins and do the penance he gives you. You must try to pray the Rosary every day and become very devoted to The Mother of God. know this: As long as you dont act on it, being homosexual will not send you to hell, but if you continue to commit the sins that involves it, you will end up burning forever in hell. Know that God loves you and if you get baptised catholic, Confess your sins, do penance, stay out of mortal sin, and pray the Holy Rosary every day, you will be cured of the homosexual orientation. God Bless you

I must disagree with this promise of a cure from the orientation. I pray the Rosary every day, strive to avoid mortal sin, confess when I do sin and yet I was genuinely born with the orientation. I was speaking to someone last night who likened the experience to the Sorrowful Mysteries. I was given a cross, the weight of which is unimaginable. Knowing I would have to carry it is my own Agony in the Garden. The ridicule I have experienced in life just by having the orientation is my Scourging at the Pillar. The continued mental anguish of wanting to change but being unable to is my Crowning with Thorns. The daily walk is the Carrying of my Cross. Now I don’t want to sound suicidal as I am only 44 years old but I long for the day when God releases me through my Crucifixion, symbolically not literally. I too see the way the world is headed, often the fault of both the conservatives and the liberals. I am now after that conversation beginning to accept the cross and carry it dearly. I can never get married as I will never be cured of the orientation. But by staying celibate, which is lonely, I can reach my Crucifixion day. Through this uniting to Jesus I feel somehow that the end is closer than we think and I have been chosen as a suffering soul to contribute to the salvation of others.

You are right, goofjm, and I feel for you. but in some cases, one can be freed fro the orientation. And I hate when people say that if you are gay you will go to hell. ITS NONSENSE. If youre born that way, you just have to live chastly and follow the teachings of the Church

I’m even willing to believe that not all practicing gays go to hell. When we look at the psychological causes for entering the behavior it can become addictive and one cannot always be responsible for their behavior in the midst of addiction. This is why I say even though it always fulfills rule number one for mortal sin the church has always taugh the subjectivity of rules number two and three as well of full knowledge and full consent. Many things will always be grave matter but this is not the only condition of mortal sin. These are the things only God knows. So it is not up to any of us to decisively say someone has died in mortal sin and is going to hell. We might be pleasantly surprised who we find up there. I don’t say this to promote a lifestyle. I say it only out of compassion.
