My mom said Jesus is God I thought Jesus is the son of God and that God and Jesus are two separate souls is Jesus God or is he the son of God and God hasn’t revealed himself to us I’m really confused are they two separate souls or one

so I’m still confused do I worship God or do I worship Jesus who do I pray to cause I’m confused

You worship Jesus, you’re worshiping God.

Think of it this way.

We are created in God’s image, body, soul and spirit.

So, Jesus = body

Soul = God the Father

Spirit = Holy Spirit

Three persons on one God.

Both. Jesus is God. There is only one God, which consists of three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, all of whom are the same one God. That is what the Trinity means.

Jesus is God.
The Holy Trinity is one God that consists of three separate persons (not “souls”, persons):
God the Father
God the Son, called Jesus
And God the Holy Spirit.

Whenever you pray to any one of them or to “God” in general, you’re praying to all three.

You can pray to both God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus.

We are Trinitarians. God is one being who is three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are one being, one God, not three beings or three Gods.

Furthermore, we believe that God the Son assumed humanity in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is one person who is a human body and a human soul united to God the Son. We refer to this union in the person of Jesus as the “hypostatic union.” Because Jesus’ humanity is united to God the Son as one person (not two people in one body) it is okay to worship Jesus as a person as God.

It’s a little mind-boggling, especially if you’ve never encountered it before, but that’s okay.

You could also use the analogy St Patrick used to describe the Holy Trinity, a three leaf clover.

Three leafs but one clover.

Same with God, three divine persons, all as one God.

The Father was the creator, who created everything through the Son.

so is there God the creator of everything or is that Jesus
Both! The entire Trinity was involved in Creation, and God the Son is united to the person of Jesus. Note that Jesus’ human body and human soul did not do the creating, but as a person who is that human body and human soul AND God the Son, Jesus was involved in creation.

You seem to be confusing the idea of God with that of the Father, who is one of the three persons of the same one God.

The Father is God, but is not the Son or the Holy Spirit.

The Son is God, but is not the Father or the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is God, but is not the Father or the Son.

There is only one God, but that one God has three distinct persons.

Jesus was involved in creation.
Actually, let’s not go there yet, until the OP has a clearer concept of the Trinity. Strictly speaking, the Father is the creator, who created everything through the Son.

thanks I feel dumb I’m 18 and had no idea
Don’t feel dumb .

Some of the greatest minds have pondered the things you are confused by . And their attempts to put their findings into words are pretty inadequate .

One of these great minds was St Thomas Aquinas . Then he had a “spiritual encounter” with God which led him to say , “The end of my labours has come. All that I have written appears to be as so much straw after the things that have been revealed to me.”

Don’t feel dumb .
Rob2 is right. Great theologians have often spent many years trying to comprehend this mystery. None of us will fully understand it until we are with God in Heaven.

This is what the Gospel of John says;

In the beginning* was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God

He was in the beginning with God.

All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be

What came to be
through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race John 1: 1-4

And the Word became flesh*
and made his dwelling among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
full of grace and truth John 1: 14

The “Word,” is Jesus.
