I'm getting tired of hearing from Protestants that we worship Mary and the saints!

**I like each posting to stand alone you are making me work! :coolinoff: **

Yeah…this is awful isn’t it…shouldn’t have started it this way, was being lazy posting! 😦

Kind of like how “all children of God” – no matter what denomination, should decide what His will is for them…by the indwelling of His Spirit of Truth. If you follow what you think God wants aren’t you following yourself?
You would be….if…as I said above you did it alone…but not if you’re in the company of the Holy Spirit.
** There is a commandment against false gods isn’t there?**
Sure is! :yup:
*“If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don’t like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself.” Saint Augustine *
**All **churches would be wise to observe that statement!

Neither would I…and that’s why we should never rely on our own understanding….or anyone else’s…simply because we are “told”, by them, that they have it all figured out. **Yes! You finally Understand! Great! Yes, we should only listen to Jesus. After all that is why He left us “His” church to guide us. Why try to follow false leaders when we have the RCC?**Well……perhaps the Catholic church, as it is today, is not the same church.
Perhaps the baby-sitter hasn’t been following His original mandate.

But the baby-sitter can never usurp that personal, inherent relationship you have with your mother and never should attempt to do so, by attempting to present her own authority - in lieu - of the mother’s. **But you are assuming that the babysitter isn’t talking to the mother. nor, the Mother to the babysitter! I have never thought of that before. We always knew the Holy Spirit was guiding our church. The other church’s don’t have divine guidance do they? I guess if you are blind to the truth, you must also be deaf to it also! **No…you only knew the Holy Spirit was guiding your church because “the church told you.”

And she was left to abide by your mother’s original mandate…not her own.
**HAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, it is just that sometimes I think you are serious! **And that’s a “good thing…sometimes!”

No mother would give a baby-sitter “complete authority” – the mother’s authority is complete – any authority that she gives to a baby-sitter is to be exercised with the mother’s original mandate being the first and only priority. But that isn’t what Jesus said is it?. It is only what you wish he had said! "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19 So Peter was given the authority to establish doctrine in matters of faith and morals for the entire Church. Every true believer has the ability to understand the mysteries of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection as they relate to salvation. However only Peter and his successors were given the right to formulate doctrine on how to get there. “That” is what Jesus said! All “authority” was given to Jesus. “That” is what He said.

Matthew28:V18: (Douay Rheims online) (underlining is theirs, not mine)
18 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: **All power **is given to me in heaven and in earth. 19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

And by HIS authority, He sent out the apostles to establish His church, to teach, baptize and to teach the people observance of all that He commanded them. A few changes over the years…
not quite the same church as is evident today?

Kind of how the babysitter would like the children to understand it to be….but that in itself, does not make it true.
Moot point based on my previous answer isn’t it?
Not now.

Gotcha ya!
**Only in your mind **😃
Nooooo…I didn’t mean that I thought I “one upped you” or something….I meant “I understand” or “I get your point”, as in regards to your statement about “agreeing to disagree and leaving it at that.”:o

**OK Deb, Take a deep breath… Hold it… Ok Let it out! Again! Feeling better now? You were so angry you couldn’t even type. The post was hard to read.

I sure can understand.Being fooled for years, thinking you were in Jesus’ real church and then to realize that He only established “one” church and it can be proved that it is the RCC and that all other churches are only “imitations” must be a shock!:bigyikes:
If you look into the bible that your church “borrowed” from the real chuch Jesus says: "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Matthew 16:19

Yea, Jesus gave Peter and his successors the authority to establish doctrine in matters of faith and morals for the entire Church.

Do you know what year your chuch started? Did they break away from the RCC or from another protestant church? There are estimated to be 60,000 “christian” denominations right now!.

You seem like an intelligent person.👍 A couple of questions: Do you think Jesus really wanted 60,000 different denominations? Or perhaps, and I say this with all Christian love and ernestness, could it have been the Devil that divided the real church in order to steal souls?
Do you think Jesus will look kindly on “followers” (Used loosley to make a point) who "insult, disrespect and dishonor His mother? Would you?

There can only be one “Body” of Christ. Jesus’ is the Head. He established the Roman Catholic Church is His “visible” body here on Earth. I guess that being true. It would have to make the other 59,999 denominations, eeerrrr,:hmmm: cancerous growths?;

By reading the bible, every true believer has the ability to understand the mysteries of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection as they relate to salvation. However only Peter and his successors were given the right to formulate doctrine on how to get to heaven. “That” is what Jesus said Deb!

If it makes you angry do some about it. Come to the “Real” faith:highprayer:
We really aren’t mean. Why some of us even have sense of humors (Don’t count PeterJ OK?)

God Bless. Remember Jesus Loves all of Us! He really does!!

Let me tell you A Love Story. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. JOHN 3:16

God Bless you Deb

I see that we will have to agree to disagree my friend. I KNOW i am in the true church along with all believers of Christ. You seem very nice and i thank you for that. God bless Deb

Small quibble - Jesus Christ and His Apostles established the Catholic Church (ecclesia kata holos, Acts 9:31). The addition of the adjective “Roman” came along later, primarily by Her opponents. The Roman, properly called Latin Rite, is one of 23 Rites, all are just as Catholic as the next.

Yes indeed, if you have been baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are a member of the Catholic Church. 👍

You need to read the history of the DC’s. This will help clear up your confusion. 👍
I have never denied that the Deuteros were hotly disputed. What history clearly shows is that they were part of the canon from the early centuries.

What would you talk about out here in CAF if you all agree?
i guess you could talk about the weather or sports.

🤷
The ministry of CAF is to give Catholic answers to people who are genuinely interested in learning about Catholicism. If you believe you are already the guardian of all Truth, and that your mission here is to promote your anti-Catholic agenda, then it would be much more charitable to save the bandwidth for sincere inquirers.
You seem to believe that you have a ministry directed toward attacking the Catholic Church. Jesus left clear instructions about what to do with wheat and the tares. You call yourself a bible christian, yet you are disobedient to the very word you claim to serve.

Several good points guan. But what makes you think JA4 will understand the concept of Faith? Why there is even his buddy named “TruthFaith & I think Lies” If my memory serves me right, that has Faith in his name and doesn’t understand the concept.Remember that you have to talk down at a level they can understand if you expect to treach them anything. Do not insult them by talking about complicated things like faith! OK?
I am ashamed to say that it took me the better part of a year to realize that ja4’s questions were not sincere. I spent many hours researching and writing responses. I do not regret that, as I have grown in my faith also, and it was this experience that led me to become a forum supporter and a prayer warrior for CAF. I also realized that there are, on average, 10 times more people reading than there are posting, and I continue to answer these disingenuous questions for the sake of the lurkers.
Now I really do have to defend JA4. I have read many things he posted. He nomally doesn’t post that are incorrect.
Hey, don’t get mad. Go check what he writes.
He actually doesn’t. He asks questions with incorrect information sure, but he rarely makes “false statements” . There has been some, but not many!
Well, perhaps we have had different experiences. I have read hundreds of posts with persistent lies.
It is like if I asked: “Why Is it Protestant don’t worship Jesus as He demanded that He should be worshipped in the Bible?” " By eating His Body and Drinking His Blood?" Now, Protestants could rightly tell me that was incorrect! Because we all know Jesus didn’t “demand it”. He instructed us to do it, He explained that we couldn’t go to heaven if we didn’t do it. But he never actually demaned it! So they would be right.
Yes, I agree. But to deliberately continue to post misinformation after one has been repeatedly corrected has an insidious motive.
"guanophore:
You want us to start republishing your lies? No thanks! One example, though, is that you keep saying that the deuterocanonicals were not included in the canon until Trent, when it has been shown to you that this is not the case.
Sorry guan, JA4 is correct! Yea, I know. I hate agreeing with him also! While many Catholics communities accepted the Apocrypha / Deuterocanonicals previously, the RCC only officially added the Deuterocanonicals to our Bible at the Council of Trent in the mid 1500’s A.D.
No, they were not 'added". At Trent, an infallible dogmatic pronouncement was made for the first time, in response to Protestants removing them. However, history shows that they were included from the beginning, because the Church observed Jesus and the Apostles using the Septuagint.

The African Synod of Hippo, in 393, approved the New Testament, as it stands today, together with the Septuagint books, a decision that was repeated by Councils of Carthage in 397 and 419. These councils were under the authority of St. Augustine, who regarded the canon as already closed. Pope Damasus I’s Council of Rome in 382, issued a biblical canon identical to that. Damasus’s commissioning of the Latin Vulgate edition of the Bible, c. 383, was instrumental in the fixation of the canon in the West. In 405, Pope Innocent I sent a list of the sacred books to a Gallic bishop, Exsuperius of Toulouse. **When these bishops and councils spoke on the matter, however, they were not defining something new, but instead were ratifying what had already become the mind of the Church. ** Thus, from the fourth century, there existed unanimity in the West concerning the canon (as it is today).

History speaks for itself. The Septuagint has been included in the canonical lists since the fourth century, when the NT canon was closed. I agree, there was never a dogmatic prounouncement until the Reformation.
Code:
The Protestants had already "borrowed" our Bible by that time to make their various bibles.
Yes, and all of them contained the DC;s, just as EVERY BIBLE published up to that time.
Just think guan, If they had waited until after the Council of Trent they would have the “Full” correct bible that they could have changed. Just tell JA4 you misspoke, he will understand ~ he does it all the time!
You both have some things to learn about your family history.
JA4 isnt a bad person. He even asks an intelligent question every once in a while. I saw one about three or was it four weeks ago?
I would not be in a position to judge another person. All I can judge is the behavior.
God Bless, keep up the good fight!
Thank you for your kind words.

Scientiphic. That was an Excellent point.! 👍 Yes, God will be with us always! :yup: How can He do that, you ask? It is easy “by the Body of Christ”.:signofcross: Now don’t be confused. I will explain. Jesus is the head, OK? And the RCC is the Body! :highprayer: So yes God IS with us always, like He promised in the Bible,. That is unless we go with another babysitter. One that our “Mother” didn’t give authority over us and our lives. :tsktsk: Yea, she may be younger and prettier. But in order to “obey” God we have to stay with the real babysitter! Thanks for reading our bible, or was it one that had be changed? Please feel free to ask me to correct your errors in faith. I am will to help you find the way to the real church anytime! That is the Christian thing to do!
Have a Great Day. :tiphat: Remember to pray the rosary! (errr they are a bunch of beads with a cross on the end, looks kind of like a necjlce) It is a very powerful way to get Mary to have her son take care of us and our needs.:gopray:

God Bless!**
I think now you’re trying to ‘HYBRID’ the babysitter with your mother. That is itself wrong. You know that?

First, the guy tells you that you don’t need 3rd parties, and you came up with an answer that basically explains why the 3rd party nanny is now required/mandatory and we should be listening to the nanny. So, I showed you why the parent is still around and the nanny is therefore not required and now you tell us that this nanny is actually the mother???

Seriously, do you know what you’re saying??? It seems you’re constantly wiggling around with your words not knowing what is right or left.

Since I am now in “post mode” I cannot see exactly how many postings this thread has but it is pretty close to 650.

It is frustrating to provide answers to people who really don’t read them at all and this is evident in their responses. There are some excellent answers on this and other threads which are totally ignored by a certain element that tends to WANT to “engage”.

In a debate both sides make their point and arrive at a conclusion. But these people don’t want that and if someone doesn’t put an end to this thread soon it will go on until the end of time. Quite frankly, I would prefer to debate with a Robot as it would, in all likehood, be able to interact more intelligently!😛

I have decided that from now on I will not engage with people who are here to waste time. I don’t enjoy it.

So 👋 goodbye JA4, :wave:goodbye 👋 goodbye…👋

I will say this you have made me very angry. I will not sin in my anger. you have no right to much such statements like the catholic church has the market on God and our Lord Jesus. I seek God every moment of my day. I bask in his love. He speaks to my heart in a very personal way.
Jesus is my like for my life is in him! I belong to the true church with all those who are in Christ Jesus and the true church includes you but is not only you. God bless you my Friend Deb
Deb,

It was not my intent to make you angry. I’m sure you love Jesus with all your heart, but Jesus did not intend for his church to be a merely invisible body of like minded believers. As RobG pointed out, there are thousands of Christian groups out there, all teaching conflicting doctrines. Some groups teach that Jesus was God, others that he was a man. Some groups teach the Trinity, some do not. Some groups teach that baptism provides real grace, others that its just a symbol. Some groups baptise in the name of the Father, Son, and Ghost, some just baptise in the name of Jesus, and others don’t baptise at all. Some believe Jesus is really present in the Lord’s Supper, some say it’s just a memorial meal, some don’t even bother with the Lord’s Supper. Some groups worship on Sunday, but other groups believe that is the Mark of the Beast and we must worship on Saturday. Some believe you can lose your salvation, others believe you can’t. And on and on.
God is not the author of confusion, as St Paul wrote to the Corinthians. These conflicting groups can’t all be right. Does doctrine matter? To read the condemnations of false teachers by Jesus and the Apostles in the scriptures, it is apparent that it does. But you can’t call something false unless you have a standard that is agreed upon as true, These are not idle questions. When I first became a Christian, I did not belong to any particular church, but felt in my heart of hearts that the original Church that Jesus and his apostles founded must still exist. But there were so many groups teaching different things, how to know what was true and what was false? This is not an idle question: it’s our eternal salvation at stake, and I’m not willing to trust my soul to some Tom, **** or Harry with a Bible verse on his lips to lend credence with some novel teaching. I’m looking for the Truth as Jesus intended it, which is why I became Catholic.

I came across this and it made me think of worship. Am i wrong to think this? If its not worship then what is it?

Ps- This is not the complete prayer. I think it can be found at the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Page.

THE PRAISES OF MARY
ST LOMMAN, ABBOT (7th century)

St Lomman, Irish abbot of the 7th century, gave us these Praises of Mary, passed down orally until finally written down in the twentieth century! What a beautiful testimony to Our Lady, going back so many centuries! What a gift of the Irish Church to all of us!

THE PRAISES OF MARY

Chorus: Mary, Loving Mary,
Our joy and our delight.
  1. Joy of the Father,
    Love of the Son,
    Delight of the Holy Spirit,
Delight of the Most High God.
    Thou who knew not man,
    Mother of the Holy One,
Mother of Him Who was never made.
He drank life from thy breasts.
    Before Adam He knew thee,
To Adam He told of thee.
  2. Eve’s weakness is thy strength.
    Angels are enraptured before thee.
The Blessed bow down before thee.
    Michael is thy Captain.
    Gabriel thy Messenger.
    Raphael thy Healer.
Angels and Saints feast on thy beauty.
    Delight of God,
    Peerless Mary,
    Thy face is heavenly beauty.
  3. Straight Way without spot,
    Beautiful flower of every perfume,
Heavenly rose, whose beauty draws all.
    Choicest and rarest flower of the Father’s Garden;
    Tended by His angels.
    Gentle Mary, Loving Mary.
    Heavenly wind,
    Spring rain,
Blinding Light that overcasts the sun.
    Mightier than the mountains.

These are praises. Most Protestants don’t know any other kind of prayer besides praise, so they mistake it for worship. For Catholics, the most perfect worship takes place in Divine Liturgy, especially the Eucharist. If you were to attend a Eucharistic celebration, you will find that Mary is not the center of Catholic worship.

Prayers such as this follow the apostolic commandment to honor those who are worthy of honor.

Phil 4:8-9

8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

All the statements about Mary are “whatever is true” about her. We think about these things, worthy of praise. Praising a good person’s accomplishments or attributes (or even a pet dog for doing well) does not equate to worship. :dts:

I am Me:
I will say this you have made me very angry. I will not sin in my anger. you have no right to much such statements like the catholic church has the market on God and our Lord Jesus. I seek God every moment of my day. I bask in his love. He speaks to my heart in a very personal way.

**My sister Deb,
Please don’t get angry. To do that is to shut out all communications. “Most” people here are nice and mean no unkindness. (Yea, there are a few!) Try to listen with an open heart. You don’t have to “believe”, you don’t have to agree. Just listen to the words that are written as you read them. Read the response that RNRrobert wrote you below. It is 100% on track! Catholic Churches never teach hate against anyone. Many Protestant churches teach hate against Catholics and also Jews. The question must be asked: Why? Is it because they want to make their church seem like the “correct” church? Does it make them correct to condemn the entire denomination known as RCCs? . If not for Jesus coming to fulfill the old testament we would all have to be Hebrew to truly worship God as He desired. Jesus came and fulfilled the old testament. Catholics follow His commands and directives. Who do you think hates God more than the Devil? Who would want to drive people away from God? From His true church? Yup, the Devil! (They should have a devil smilely! 👍

To love Jesus is to desire to Worship Him in the way that He would desire.

I also have a deep and personal relationship and love for my personal Savior Jesus Christ. I eat His true Body and Drink His true blood as He commanded, so I can obtain eternal Life.
I share my beliefs out of love for Him and my brother and sister Christians. I don;'t do it to prove that I know things. Why, I am probably the dumbest one on this thread besides a few who know who they are! :sad_yes:
Continue to read about the RCC. Don’t get angry. If something offends you. Look into why? Was it the arrogant way it was stated? Or was it because you “know in your heart” that it was wrong?
We all have to become informed Christians. AssI said there are 60,000 denominations. We all can’t be right!
Jesus wasn’t crazy and did not want to be worshipped in 100s or 1000s of ways!

God Bless you! :signofcross: On behalf of myself and my brother Catholics I personally apologize for any remarks that angered you! :hug3:

Now a Joke to Cheer you up!

Praising someone doesn’t equal worshipping them.
This is from #2 of the hymn:

Angels are enraptured before thee.
The Blessed bow down before thee.
Michael is thy Captain.
Gabriel thy Messenger.
Raphael thy Healer.
Angels and Saints feast on thy beauty.

Do you believe this is true of Mary? If so, how do you know it is since the Scriptures never speak of her in this manner?

Hi JA4,

Can I play?

They did actually: Rev 12. Plus I have even heard Protestant minister say things not written in the bible the heretics! How dare they? Since we are the real church we can interpt what our books say and express it anyway we desire get it? 👍 You are given no authority to question our Church. That is reserved to God and Him alone. Read the bible you borrowed from us!

Anyway as you copied" “St Lomman, Irish abbot of the 7th century, gave us these Praises of Mary, passed down orally until finally written down in the twentieth century! What a beautiful testimony to Our Lady, going back so many centuries! What a gift of the Irish Church to all of us!”

So I am guessing that they are " Praises of Mary". The human creature created by God to bear His only son Our Lord and Master. Keep insulting His mother You will really understand how mush he loves His mother, as Much as We do ours! Show just a little respect for the Mother of you God, Don’t worship her. Just remember she is above all other creatures created by God and deserves our respect. And if yuo pray to her she might have her Son talk to the father for you! Like the say it can’t hurt. Only Holy water burns nonbelievers I am told, not prayers 😃

PS PeterJ gets angry at me! So don’t tell him I replied to your posting OK? Thanks Buddy! 🙂 **

Yes indeed, if you have been baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are a member of the Catholic Church. 👍
**Pixie what a really nice thing to say:thumbsup: You are wrong, but it was nice of you to think that.
I think Fr John Corapi expressed it best when he said “All protestants are heretics”
During your swim did they cover excommunication? If we don’t follow the beliefs of the Catholic Church we can be removed from the Body of christ. even if baptised. Some Protestants say they believe OSAS, but even they know that isn’t true! If we commit an grave or mortal sin, such as abortion , we automatically remove ourself from the body of Christ. Do you agree with that? You can look it up if you desire. I wouldn’t lie to you.

If you have been baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are a christian. not necessary member of any Church. Yes, everyone could be saved through the authority of the Catholic Church and yes there are more that “Roman” Catholics" in the Catholic Church. We consider them all brothers. They are “real” Catholic, just as we are. Some of our beliefs differ but not the ones that decide if you are saved or not. Like with the Heritics! The heretics can’t be saved without the mercy of the Catholic Church because God gave His Church the authority to tie or untie sins her on earth. Yes, even heresy! Praise to God! As they stand now all 59,999 christian denominations that go against God’s real church and may be damned even though they have been baptised. Why some of them never ate The Body or drank the Blood of Jesus as He personally commanded that they must do to have eternal life~:tsktsk: . How could they realy expect to be saved Bu denying that Jesus said that? He commanded them to do it and because of being blinded by the devil they refuse to believe it even though they read it. How foolish is that?
Now I know it seems harsh, and you want to be nice. Because you are a nice person. That is commendable! :flowers: That is not really charitable, I don’t think it is fair to them. I believe that
God wants us to try and get them to realize that they are wrong. To help them be saved to eternal life! Their salvation depends on it! We are not being correct if we say that they are saved when in fact they were called but did not answered Jesus. They probably won’t be recognized by Jesus later. He said that in the Bible. I really try not to judge anyone, that isn’t my job. We have to leave that to God and His mercy to perhaps forgive their rejection of His Church here on earth. :dts:
I think my job is just to attempt to open their eyes the best I can, and to love them. No matter what they call themselves , or how very close to the devil  they may be because of their false beliefs, they still deserve our love!
God Bless**
