Shudder. Just … no. How do you catch them when you are under your blankets screaming?assuming that you had to catch them to release them back outside that is?

Bats can be trusted to find their own way out. Birds can be more troublesome. Sometimes, when all the windows are open, a bat or a bird will fly in through one window and out through another one, but birds sometimes lose their way, and then they panic and try and fly up through the ceiling. We naturally worry that the bird might injure itself, but there’s no way you can catch a bird until it gets tired. Se we just sit quietly for a few minutes, being careful to do nothing that might scare it, until it settles in a reachable place — on top of a picture frame, for instance — where I can carefully scoop it up and release it through the window.assuming that you had to catch them to release them back outside that is?

One of the oddities of my stay in DuBois, PA was the bats. One morning a few days ago I found one dangling from a light fixture.
they’re also really good at keeping down carnivorous insect levels . . .but they’re evidently harmless as long as you leave them alone.
