God is sort of a vending machine…I’ve read all your replies in full, it’s the same Christian excuses now.
Why is it that asking for God is being taken as if he is being used as a vending machine. Whenever a thread comes in about a person going under temptation or whatever negative thought, your suggestion is to pray. You would recommend Novenas so that the Saints can pray with/for you, to random “get to know christ and pray on and on”… now when years have gone by of the results being the same, the answer now is: "Well you shouldn’t look at God like some vending machine. Come on. If a guy asks me for change for food, should i brush him off and tell him: “I’m not a vending machine”. If some homeless person who has been in his/her situation for years and has prayed for help out of it goes unanswered, is “God is not a vending machine” a nice excuse to tell him why things are just not happening… If asking him is making him like a vending machine, then why pray for his blessings in the first place?
- Not a vending machine
- You need to know Christ that is why things are not going up with you
Let me put it this way, do you get much from a vending machine when you put no money in? probably not.
Now let me give you an example of human mindset:
This fellow named… Renter was renting from Dr. Landlord. Dr. Landlord if he was catholic I would recommend him for the sainthood. I only know of Dr. L from Renter. Renter was perpetually behind up to 6+ months on his rent and was given years leeway by Dr. L. Renter was given work by Dr. L to help pay rent and have extra cash. Dr.L became the probono doctor of Renter’s sick dying mother before her passing. After years like this Dr. L says he is done and wants Renter to go so he can sell the house (Renter being 6 months behind on rent).
THEN because Dr. L is saintly he says to Renter “Pay next months rent on time and I will cut your debt in half and you can stay”…Renter…well Renter pas a week late and Dr. L says goodbye he can not handle it anymore.
Renter Says Dr. L is a scumbag who is a cold heartless jerk. He says “I paid him so he took back his deal, dealbreaker” (ignoring the week late part after years of lateness)
You see here Renter believes he is truly in the right. Renter believes he has put full money in the vending machine, But in truth he has not. So most of the time the “I am such a good person” statements are much like Renter…full of hot air and denial.
