  1. i am not confrontational and appreciate civil discussions
  2. im not exactly sure why im asking some one apologetic… what are you apologizing for?
  3. im gay, i have no problem with my sexuality, ive tried girls, theyre just not for me… that said, why am i supposed to be condemned to hell for something that im not in control of, even having tried the “grass on the other side”?
  4. i also recognize that there is no way to prove or disprove the existence of god, so why bother?
  5. my lifes motto is live and let live… whos with me?!?
 
the bible says chosing to being gay is sinful. you could get help and change if you really wanted to. with a little faith and by accepting god into your heart you could turn life around.

Well, i don’t know how these apologetic things work, but that seems good with me.

actually, the old testament says its a sin, if you read it like that “he who sleeps with man as he sleeps with woman shall be put to death”…
ive never slept with a woman, so that really doesnt aplly to me… :?
besides, does god want me to live in misery for the next 50 to 60 years?
i thought he wanted his children to be happy…

Welcome 🙂 ,

First, I want to caution you on “trying girls.” Human beings are not things to be tried, like gap jeans. And if you think about sex that way, you have missed the whole point of sexuality because you have missed the human beings involved.

Second, I can’t imagine that you have come here to tell us that you are gay and that your model is “let and let live.” So, tell us what’s really on your mind 🙂 .

Third, while homosexual activity is a sin, it’s not the end all of anything. All of us have sinned (although many of us don’t identify ourselves by our sin), and your sin is not greater than God’s love, which is the end all of everything. So, I would much rather talk about God’s love and Christ’s redemptive work. If we start there, we are more likely to end up in the right place.

i think for sure it is in the new testatment as well. for sure jesus taught that this type of life is sinful. this is what i have learned from the church.
god does want you to be happy. a person can not truly be happy living in sin. the only way to really be happy is to accept jesus and god into your heart and thats how you will get to heaven. i do not think with good help you would be in misery for the next 50 to 60 years. but even 60 years is nothing compared to how you will spend eternity. this is something important for to think about, yes?

i prefer to get my sexuality out of the way, so that people arent all agreeable with me and then turn tail and start preaching to me afterwards, or feel btrayed somehow…

as for “trying girls” i meant that as i was growing up, i dated them, and i simply felt no romantic connection to them whatsoever… and just so were clear, youre the one who brought up sex first… i am a virgin… the reason i stated my motto, was to avoid some sort of arguement, because i wont judge you for your lifestyle, and i simply expect the same courtesy in return… the way i live is not a choice, because lets face it, who would choose to be a persecuted minority in such a volatile time as today?

a person also cannot be happy living a lie either, which is also a sin, so im assuming its damned if i do, damned if i dont?

its also saying alot about several posters here who have chosen to focus on my sexuality as opposed to my agnosticism… is trying to say im going to hell for being gay somehow easier than telling me im going to hell for deciding its beyond my means to prove in the existence of a deity, and therefore not wanting to worship me? i thought jesus and god was all about agape, as opposed to condemnation…
remember, the god of the old testament was the wrathful vengeful god, whereas the father of jesus was a peaceful loving god…

well, technically god has said nothing… a group of men supposedly transcribed what he said, of which the original texts are ashes in the wind by now, but thats neither here nor there… even in the time of david, they partook in drugs and young boys, as well as treated their women as property… who here is tired of their wife and would like to trade her to me for some land? no? a daughter maybe?

and usacarlos, not to be too blunt, but unless she has a penis, i seriously doubt ill find “the right girl”… some just need to accept that people are who they are, because i guarantee you, your not in danger of being infected with “teh gay”…

what will you do if your child sits in his or her room, compteplating swallowing those pills, or slicing their wrists, for fear that youre going to hate them for what they are?

Did I ever say all atheists are morally vacant?..no I didn’t!. I said you should find an atheist who is morally vacant, the two aren’t necessarily linked. You’re the one who made that insinuation.

i think you are probably living the lie now. if you dont beleive in god and the bible. jesus and god are peaceful and loving and want you to get eternal happiness. there is only one way to be happy forever, my friend. god has even shown you how. by giving us the model of adam and eve. not adam and steve. a man and a woman. if you accept god into you heart and follow the church you would be much better off, yes?

actually, you said one of the morally vacant atheists who visit this site, which doesnt imply that all atheist are immoral, just the ones that post here…
