So I am out of Holy Water and I want to get it filled at mass tonight. How do I do that because I don’t want to steal it from the fonts…lol Answer Please
Had you considered asking the priest to provide some for you? If a parish has a baptismal font, the water has usually been blessed several times at least since the Easter vigil. As far as I know, no one would object to a devout person taking some home from that font in a suitable container. It is a very common practice. Some parishes also have a combination storage container and font that will serve that purpose as well.So I am out of Holy Water and I want to get it filled at mass tonight. The blessing of the new water is done at the Easter Vigil when there will be baptisms. If the water is so blessed, a prayer but not a blessing is said over it at other occasions of Baptism during Easter Season. Outside of that time, the Rite of Baptism still calls for the water to be blessed when baptism is to be celebrated. So by the time late summer rolls around, the water of the baptistry may have been blessed several times. We have a big baptismal pool that I use to get mine from…I am wondering if this might be a bit more special than regular Holy Water, or is it all the same thing? Isn’t there a special Easter Water they use for Baptizing?
