Judgement and acknowledging/defending the Truth (capital T) are two different things. God bless.
the truth according to u.
if i were to post saying all catholics are wrong, according to u, i would be wrong, according to muslims your wrong.
telling them what they expect to hear from a christian is nothing new to them, just like them telling u your wrong is not going to suddenly make u change your mind and your beliefs.
telling other christians what they already believe about muslims does them no good also.
when u speak of the islam as violent and your belief that their religion is false,
(your Judging with a capital J)
because there is no need to acknowledge what 90% of the forum already thinks and has already acknowledged, and what the small percentage of muslims will already deny before u even type it.
and no need to defend when the majority here are christians and again, what muslims will deny.

I’m sorry, Roman, but what you’re saying is contrary to the evidence. Muhammad never limited his ‘jihad’ verses to a certain time. In fact, the most hateful ones were ‘revealed’ in a time of peace when he had already subjugated Arabia.

In the hadiths, he told his followers to go forth into the surrounding countries to fight the infidels just as in the jihad verses.

Thus, your position, though oft-repeated by Islamo-apologists, is just wishful thinking and projection.
And I might add, that the qur’an states it is God’s final revelation for all mankind.

“these profess to hold the faith of Abraham”

It does not say they hold the same faith as Abraham just that they profess that faith. If they deny the trinity they are not the True faith and do not believe in the True God as was revealed to us by Christ. Muhammed is a false prophet and Islam is a false religion.

As for the violence in islam please check out the following websites:

jihadwatch.org
dhimmiwatch.com
hotair.com/archives/2007/05/26/hot-air-introduces-blogging-the-quran/

God bless and welcome to CA!
I think that the meanning of the words from the Catechism are very clear: Muslims acknowledge and worship with Catholics, Christians, and Jews “the one, merciful God.” I do not think that the words “those who profess to hold the faith of Abraham” are in any way meant to question whether they really do hold the fath of Abraham, they are clearly meant to assert that Muslims, along with Jews and Christians, are all part of the same Abrahamic tradation, the core of which, is worship of the one God.

Furthermore, if one examines the writings, statements, and actions of the Catholic hierarchy, Pope Benedict for example, it should be abundantly clear that Islam is seen as a legitmate word religion, to be treated with respect, not the derision that is so prevalent on this thread. For example, on his trip to Turkey just after the controversy over the Danish cartoons, the Holy Father visited the Blue Mosque and turned to Mecca, bowing his head respectfully, as the Muslims with him prayed. I find it hard to believe that the Holy Father would have done this if he, or the Church, held Islam to be “false religion.” Also, the Holy Father ammended his remarks from his speech at the University of Regensburg to say that the Byzantine emperor’s remarks regarding Islam were made with a “a brusqueness that we find unacceptable.” Benedict added in a footnote: “*In the Muslim world, this quotation has unfortunately been taken as an expression of my personal position, thus arousing understandable indignation. I hope that the reader of my text can see immediately *that this sentence does not express my personal view of the Quran, for which I have the respect due to the holy book of a great religion.” Clearly, the Holy Father, does not find Islam to be a evil religion. I would say that his opinion is likely to be consistent with offical Catholic teaching on the matter.

Thank you for suggesting the websites you mentioned. I am aware of them, and have read the threads at Jihad Watch fairly extensively. The stuff they’re saying about Islam on those sites makes what’s being said here sound like statements of love for Mohammed (frankly, hearing that we should nuke Mecca and Medina, ban Muslim immigration, and not allow Muslims to serve in public office didn’t sit well with my conceptions of Christian love or American democratic ideals). While I certainly agree that Robert Spencer raises legitmate concerns regarding passages in the Qur’an that condone violence against non-Muslims, I think he unfairly ignores passages that condemn such violence (in case anyone asks, I cannot remember off the top of my head the exact citations of these passages, but they do exist. Again, I would suggest reading El Fadl’s book for a more detailed look at the whole subject.)

The Holy Father has repeatedly said that respectful dialouge with Muslims is essential to living in peace in this world. Just because Muslim extremists do not live up to this, does not mean we Catholics don’t have to.

God Bless

(oh and I got the Holy Father’s ammended remarks from Belief net, heres the url: beliefnet.com/story/201/story_20104_1.html)

Not just on Non-Catholic Religions, but what feels like every single board people are saying how all muslims are violent people who want to take over the world. .
Please cite some specific examples with links. Baseless accusations are the last resort of a weak mind.

wow thats pretty tough coming from a catholic
a man gives his opinion and u say he has a weak mind
hopefully u can find it in your good heart to apoligize, while u think about it, i’ll look in the bible to see if calling people names like weak minded is ok.

I continue to believe that this entire thread is a baseless and tasteless attack upon people. I wish it were shut down.

I’m not sick of rabid Islamophobia, I’m sick of reading about it in this forum. Why don’t we all call it quits and pray our rosaries…

I’m leaving. I am sick of hearing people defend our enemies.

Those ‘bad things’ Muhammed did are denied by Moslems as being bad!
Hi

I think Muhammad never did anything or taught anything for which he or any of his true followers should be ashamed of or to apologize from Montalban or anybody else. If, anybody among the Muslims or the Orthodox understood him wrong, it is his responsiblity to get his mindset corrected. I could suggest some books to understand Muhammad’s peaceful teachings and his actions. But nobody here seems interested. I think there in no harm if one leaves one’ blind view, and gives his views seeing eyes and listening ears. It should not be a difficult thing, I am not suggesting any Conversion from the Orthodox religion, while remaining steadfast there, one can have some research eyes and ears.

Muhamm/Quran/Islam presented a whole thing, others remains short of that.

I love Jesus and Mary and the polite Catholics/Orthodox

Thanks

What measure do you use for concluding this?
In other words: How do you measure the degree of respect? Is there a ‘respect test’ you employ by which Islam trumps all others?😛
I would assume from past for you will ignore this or spam me with more stuff that has nothing to do with the question. Will you prove me wrong?
Hi

I think Wolseley is better poised to define it, he wrote about Buddhism and Christianity, I just added one truthfull for peace in this world . I quote here for you memory.

And which passages in the Quran condemn violence against non-Muslim?

Thanks,

PS: if you want to use the Sanhedrin plagiarism - please read the entire verse - it only applies to the Sons of Israel - not to Muslims.

Thanks for repeating yourself.

The Hadith show Muhammed had intercourse with a nine year old child.

No I’m not a Moslem - take time to check out the limited information given in my public profile.

The ‘incident’ is a direct rebuttal to paarsurrey’s opinion of Muhammed being a nice guy. I can change the world one thread at a time.
