I read the Bible, I go to Mass, I read Lives of the Saints, I say decades of the Rosary now and then, I often smile at my neighbour, I always smile at my dog. I often work hard, I pray up to 10 minutes a day, I never blaspheme, I feel sadness for others who are spiritually poor, I only look down on others when it is impossible to do otherwise, I go to Confession even I don’t have much to confess.
Yeah, I think I’m rating way above average at the moment.

What can I say…the first shall be last. The first shall be a servant to all.

“To contribute financially to the Church”. look I have to admit tithing is a weak point. But hopefully my generous heart will compensate for that. 🙂

Thanks. Humility is probably my strongest point.
It would be an honor for you to serve me. I take cream in my coffee, thanks.

Ha! :wink:How St. Francis responded to a similar comment:

“No. I shall sell my sweat at a much higher price to God.”

Yes, all of the activities you listed are good. I guess I am just wondering why you felt the need to make the statement/post, “I am spiritually above average”…?
Another question: do you do all these things because they are good things to do or are you doing them to express your genuine love for God and your neighbor from your heart?
Either way- keep it up!
Unfortunately, it currently does not take much to be spiritually above average in our morally decaying society.

Why did you post this?

We are not supposed to boast of our own spiritual lives, but if we boast, we boast of Jesus Christ, according to my namesake (I am too hungry to go looking for the scripture passage now).

Let me just say this:

I do several of those things, but still wish I could be better, spiritually, in comparison to others still living that I follow (we are not even talking of the saints - there are those in my life now that I wish I was like in spiritual maturity).

Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

Luke 18:11

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people–robbers, evildoers, adulterers–or even like this tax collector.

Pride is something I struggle with as well. When I’ve gone to Mass three weeks in a row and have been in confession recently, I feel on top of the world. Then when I fall into mortal sin or accidentally mess up as an EMHC, I fall- far.

Matthew 5:5

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. 😐

It would be selfish of me to take such an opportunity to be humble from you. I am always thoughtful of others when they try to aspire to my level of humility.
