Im thinking of leaving the catholic church for the protestant, iv done a lot of thinking. We have statues of Jesus and saints that we pray to when we have issues. THERE IS EVEN ONE FOR BALDNESS!

Maybe its cause the roman catholic church is roman. The romans accepted God, but they couldnt let go of polytheism and several Gods, maybe thats why we have saints?

Protestants uses the bible, Gods word. All arguments for catholism seems to come from other catholics.

I will say a prayer for you. I will also leave you with this thought…the Protestant faith is man made…completely. A man separated himself from the Church to start his own. I would have trouble following a man, over God. The Pope is following Jesus’ ordaining Peter…The Pope didn’t start Catholicism, for example. He merely is a succession of Popes dating back to Peter.

So…to follow a Protestant faith, requires a certain blind eye to the fact that you will be in essence, following a man. (Luther)

I have been reading through this thread and thought I would start here. You state bible only but you than you say that satan deceives many, which is true but we know that he will never prevail over the one true Church (which is stated in the bible). The Church which is started by Our Lord Himself. He alone gave the popes the authority to bind and lose, which is what you are having a problem with.

The bible states to look to the holy ones for help. Who is more holy than the Saints but Jesus. So yes, we do of course go directly to God but we also ask the Saints who with God in all their fullness to also pray for us. Well, it is good to go those here on earth, we here on are not fully with God.

Now as for the bible alone, you are aware that the bible was not completed until the 300’s. So what happened to all those good people before than? OR how about the fact that until the printing press was invented when more people had access to a bible, are all of those people lost. Or what about today, there are many, many people who cannot read, are they lost? You see bible alone makes absolutely no sense. Besides the fact that the bible does say that not all is in the bible and that we must hold fast to 1. the writings and 2. the teachings (tradition).

So please read more learn more, and stay way from hate websites as the one you sited.

Im getting to much posts than i can handle. But about the protestant church. Martin Luther didnt want to seperate the church. He belived in the vatican.

The reason was that the popes and monks had sex, they sinned all the time. He attacked the people in the church.

The catholic church is not the same as it was.

Yes i have been intressted in the Opus Dei cause they took the vatican more seriously.

Muslims that are terrorists are the real muslims. The “secular” muslims are much like most christians. Choose their own laws and scriptures from the bible.

How do we know they are in heaven? God is the only dudge, only he can say who went to heaven or not, If a man such as the pope unites the church its good, no cult becomes created.

But when he play God and say that a special persion is in heaven its blasphemy

Jesus told the thief that was crucified with Him “this day you shall be with me in paradise”. Should we not take His word for it? When Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus during the transfiguration, how did they do that? You are right that only God decides who is in heaven,but He also reveals this to us, so that we can commune with the saints.

Well, you are all over the place. IF you read the bible St Paul called himself a spiritual father to Timothy, what about father Abraham. Or even better what do you call your own father?

This is always something I find hard to wonder were all the bible only people are coming from, since the bible itself contradicts this in so many places.

OK, Doberman. Everytime you throw out another complaint and it’s refuted, you come back with another complaint. So can we assume that we’ve answered your questions to your satisfaction since you’re not continuing along each complaint.

Better check again. The pope’s sinful life (are you sure you have the right papal period?) was not at question. It began with indulgences and centered all around authority. Martin Luther himself said that one can have sex 1000 times a day and still get to heaven. Why should he question the popes actions? This doesn’t make sense.

The catholic church is not the same as it was.

The Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed. You do the math. The Catholic Church (most Catholics use capital “C” when referring to mother Church, BTW) is a living, breathing, entity. She’s the Body of Christ. Of course She is not the same as She was. She’s much, much more!!!

The Catholic Church gave the world the Bible, so we’re not afraid of it! As a former Evangelical Protestant, I will pray that you do not do leave the Church that Jesus founded. How well do you really know the Catholic faith? A LOT of cradle Catholics fall for what I call “The Protestant sucker punch”.

I am a born again catholic but not by choice. My family converted when i was 12, i didnt think much about it. In latter days iv become more spiritual and start to doubt the church im in.

I am sorry I didn’t know you were asked many times. Though you think it is not important, but it is. That way, we can have a better understanding why you think the way you think - that is just part of having a good discussion.

I wasn’t brought up as Catholic by choice, it was God’s choice that I am a Catholic and couldn’t imagine what I would be like to not be Catholic.

You aren’t getting the whole picture from the Bible. With all due respect, you need to read more than just the verses they’re showing you. Like THIS one:

“For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.”

1 Corinthians 4:15

Iv become more aware of my religion. I started to hang out with a protestant. And he told me things and showed me some sites.

Its been a real eye opener for me, and im not sure if the catholic church is the right path. ITs made of humans and humans make misstakes especially after 2000 years after Jesus.

The reason mother mary got so much attention from being just another mortal is cause that the Roman church wanted to convert pagans. And they needed several Gods and godesses.
