Cause Satan decieves many, he can even come in the form of angels…

All over the world people see the virgin mother. She has SHRINES! Iv visited one of them in turkey! They glorify her! IDOLTARY!

Lady of the roses, Ishtar, Afrodite, Satan, it has many names…
So you are saying that Satan came to Fatima and taught the children to pray this pray:
** Oh My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls into heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.**

No wonder Satan is losing, he’s teaching people to be drawn to the Lord!!! 🙂

I know thats why im still here. But these “people” influences the church…
ALWAYS listen to what the Church teaches. If you have to tune others (including us!!!) out, so be it. Listen to the Church!!!

Go to Mass. Do you hear prayers to Mary? No, except asking her one time to pray for us to the Lord our God. Instead, you hear one hour dedicated to the prayers and teaching of Jesus.

Maybe, we are born in sin so it is possible. Jesus died for our sins so…

But still, having pictures of mother mary in your home can not be excused.
That’s not what God said. God said don’t have any pictures or likenesses of any thing. That includes pictures (or videos) of your own mother, your own wife, your own children, a flower, a mountain, a puppy, the Washington Monument. They are all forbidden!

Or maybe God didn’t mean what you think he meant at all.

To add a hint, read 2nd Kings and see what God instructed Solomon to paint in the Temple.

One of the things I could never let go of is the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. That along with the other sacraments highlight the beauty of the Catholic church and faith. All of these things work together to bring us closer to Jesus and be present with Him experiencing the graces He has for us.

Not sure Doberman you can be talked out of it, but I would ask you to spend 30 mintues in front of the Blessed Sacrament and tell Jesus your troubles and see what He has to offer. We can only encourage, but Jesus can fill you with courage to pursue your questions. Finding answers to those often makes us good apologists to others. KittyChan is right, if you bug out now for one reason you may continue that pattern until you understand the source. I will pray that the enemy will stop his pursuit of you long enough for you to find the answers. God bless you and keep you with us. He will work in your life if you give Him a chance.

Doberman,

You are wrong about a 100% prohibition against images.

When the Isrealites were bitten by snakes in the desert after their escape from Egypt. Many were sick and dying. God commanded Moses to mount a snake upon a pole outside the tabernacle and have the people gaze upon the image of the snake. The people were cured. Now it was not the ‘image’ if the snake that cured them but God’s providence. However, this pasage comes after the gving og the 10 commanments.

Others have noted the construction of both the Ark of the Covenant and the construction of the Temple in Jerusalem where images were commanded to be constructed by the Lord God…

Doberman, you ignore these passages…

I am beginning to think that perhaps you may have been baptized cathoic as an infant but neverr received any instruction in the faith. However, I think it is highly probable that your claim is false and you come here to attack Catholicism and thought we would only discuss with you if pretended to be ‘catholic’.

I appologise if this offends…but truly, I have never encounterd a more “unknowledgeble” catholic…

Doberman, you are a loyal Catholic, and yet you travel on sites such as these?

Why?

Where does the Catholic Church teach that Jesus is NOT our Savior?

No, it isn’t a “good site”. It is a site based on lies and half-truths. I have to wonder why someone who in an earlier post was interested in Opus Dei now finds himself enraptured by the odious - almost pornographic - material of this and other anti-Catholic sites.

For the good of your soul, read the excellent articles in the Catholic Answers Library. If you continue on your present path you will be leaving the truth for a lie that will ensnare you in a world of deceit.

To address the specific issue, the reason we Catholics truly have honor for things we can see and feel, etc., has to do with the Incarnation in that Catholicism understands and appreciates the reality of the Incarnation, whereas much of the “Fundamentalists” you are presently patronizing merely pays it lip service without truly appreciating what it means for God to have become Man; as St. Paul says of Christ: “He is the visible image of the invisible God; and so in seeing Him we are caught up in love for the God we cannot see.”

This situation (the Incarnation) changes everything. It shows that the New Covenant in Christ is different from God’s Covenant with Israel. In the Christian Covenant, we have Emmanuel (“God-with-us”), and, therefore, not only (though first!) Christ’s Incarnation reflects the glory of the Father, but also the Church – the extension of Christ’s Incarnation (i.e., the Body of Christ) – reflects God’s glory. Thus Mary and the other Saints who reflect Christ, thereby reflect the Father’s glory. And so, images of Christ and the Saints are at the service of this incarnational glory of God; and the law against “graven images” is turned against itself in Christ.

Under the Old Law the Israelites were not to make graven images because no earthly creation could reflect the glory of God. Yet, after the Incarnation, this is possible, but only in Christ and in His Saints – those who are part of His Body.

So, the key to understanding Catholic iconography is to appreciate the reality of Christ’s Incarnation. In rejecting the legitimacy of icons and other religious images, the Fundamentalist world comes very close to rejecting the Incarnation Itself. Indeed, Christ became FLESH in order to save FLESH (us). If everything is merely spiritual, why did Jesus need to come in the flesh at all??

Hi, Doberman,

I want to add that never should a man abandon the heritage he was born into.

Since what you write shows you are very unclear on what the Catholic Church teaches, then I am going to assume that you are Catholic because you were born that way.

So your parents gave you spiritual life, the Catholic Faith, along with physical life.

Never do you want to turn your back on what your parents give you, on what you were born into, without very serious reason. At the very least, it is lack of gratitude for the greatest gift anyone could give. It should only be done under true necessity. The reasons you are giving, the things which trouble you, are not good reasons.

You have a very rich legacy and birthright. It is the ancient Catholic Faith you were born into. Now is your time to turn to Catholics who know what the Catholic Church teaches, and become a student. You will learn all about it. You will find it good. You can then carry on the great family tradition, and you can carry it on in a better way. You can be the one who brings your family into the fullness of their own tradition.

God bless you, your family, and your journey!

And no i havent left the catholic church.
Of course not. One would have to be in the Catholic Church in order to leave it. Your lack of knowledge and your attitudes indicate that it is very unlikely that you are in the Catholic Church. My red flags are up, as are those of others, it seems.

But all is not lost.

Why not join the Church and then leave? At least that way you would know what you are talking about.

It must be very scary for someone to come here hoping to attract swarms of Catholics to whatever the cult-of-the-month is and then to be so soundly shown down as not even knowing the basics. Folks like that have my deepest sympathy.

Doberman, you have a very shallow understanding of Catholicism. I pity you.

And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.

So folks allow you to go around calling folks whores and
harlots? You think this is OK? And your “friends” let you get away with it? Are you in some kind of trouble? Are you in a cult?

If you can, study the moral teachings of the Catholic Church before spending too much time worrying about theological correctness.

All the theological correctness in the world doesn’t amount to a hill of beans if it doesn’t lead you to the right moral values, which will help keep you from sinning.

After all, Jesus didn’t tell people to go be a Saducci, an Essene, or a Pharasee. He told them “go and sin no more”.

Oh my, I was right- the enemy has lured you with these other blashphamies. I ask the Lord right now to protect you and keep His watchful eye on you. I went to that website…

I am truly going to keep you in my prayers Doberman.

Great point, Mark! We are all gifted with different gifts.

I just want to say that I am alarmed now and let me preface this with a story I saw on Heartland. It was about this atheist guy who has a website where MILLIONS of teens have read things disputing Jesus as their Lord and Savior and have gravely sinned against the Holy Spirit by pledging He doesn’t exist. I even prayed for that man b/c we know what happens to those who do evil against God’s children…hell.

So folks this is serious, all funny quips aside. Doberman along with a slew of others are being duped.

We have prayed for these teens at daily mass. I say teens, the news piece showed video clips of teens. What the mouth says, it says- it can curse or it can bless. These teens and others following are at the mercy of the world now w/ no sanctifying grace, their parents prob don’t know they’ve forsaken Jesus so they can’t even know to pray for them right now. I mean this is serious. I want Doberman to understand how serious this website was that he gave us the link for…

I’m not all studious like some of you. But he really needs us and our prayers.

Hi, Doberman,

Your objections to the Catholic Religion are pretty empty, so it seems you are not educated in Catholic teaching. So may I assume that you are Catholic because you were born that way?

It is a serious thing to reject one’s heritage, one’s birthright. Your parents gave you physical life, and they also gave you spiritual life by bringing you into the Catholic Church. To reject what your parents gave you at such a sacred moment is to do a momentous thing. Such a rejection should not be done lightly, only out of real necessity.

You were born rich with the ancient and true heritage of Christ, Catholicism. You are richer than you know right now. To throw it away without looking at it would be, at the very least, an act of deep ingratitude. Spiritual Life is the greatest gift anyone can give anybody else, and it is the gift your family has given to you.

You are old enough to learn what the Catholic Church requires its members to learn. You can study. You can make friends with Catholics who really know the faith, as well as live and love it.

You can be the one who brings your own family into the fullness of their own family legacy.

May the Holy Spirit give you courage, wisdom and insight; may He breathe fire on the gifts which He infused into your soul at your baptism.
