Did they receive the “Green Card” as an unsolicited offer ?
We went over that before. It goes both ways.

How would you feel if I arrived at your house for dinner tonight? Would you invite me in or kick me to the curb?

What if I need a job and willing to do it for less than you are paid now? Will you feel ok with being let go so I can have your job?

For now we only need to focus on the unsolicited offer, who recieved that one, when, where, how? Did it arrive complete with their picture already installed their height, weight, eye color, installed? If so how was that done, if not exactly what was the offer?

I didn’t read all the comments here but I read enough to feel ashamed of those Catholics who are against these poor immigrants, and kudos to those who are trying to defend them!

I have said it before and I’m gonna say it again, this country is made up of IMMIGRANTS, only the Native Americans are the real Americans, and remember that some of those Natives were once Native Mexicans!

Please, if you have the intention to speak about the illegal immigrants, don’t take it on the Mexicans because there are many immigrants from many countries here, just to name a few, England, Ireland, France, Russia, Cuba, El Salvador, Belize, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Iran, Iraq, and these are just to name a few…

Some of these people come here because it’s their last resort to survive… Please take a look at this book, it’s a Catholic book on immigration:

I’m not taking anything out on Mexicans alone. I take issue with any unlawfull non-citizen. Case in point:

“Some of the suspects were US citizens and others were illegal immigrants, said US Attorney’s Office spokesman Michael Drewniak.”

Don’t you think it worthwhile to review people from Iran and Iraq that sneak in through our borders?

How do you get to unsolicited? Though it was known, my wife saw an add when she was in nursing school. “Nurses wanted in America”. She said, hey, that sounds like an invitation. She applied. They wrote back. Eventually, yes her legal drivers liscense arrived with her picture and stats already on it.

What more do you want? You get hung up on this word. Your arguments are very circular, much like arguning with some Muslims.

BTW, what is for dinner tonight?

Yes I do think it’s worthwhile but the only reason is because of the terrorist attacks that happened before, but just remember that just because they come from Muslim countries it doesn’t mean all their people are terrorists. But still that doesn’t give me a good enough reason to say let’s look at them…

How many Mexican’s or Latinos have committed acts like 911? What about the Unabomber? He wasn’t Latino nor Iraqi… He was an American anarchist… so let’s just look into American-born people as well for that matter.

But Verisimilitude, my comment wasn’t for you… you had the one of better arguments here (for the most part)…

I could have guessed that sooner of later someone would point out that some of the plotters were illegal immigrants. So what? Half of them were legal immigrants. All this incident goes to show is that you can’t base expectations of people’s behavior on their immigration status.

BTW I don’t think they were from Iraq or Iran either. Terrorists come in all shapes and sizes and immigration categories.

Indeed, there are lots of immigrants here from every corner of the globe. I welcome those who come here legally with open arms. I cannot say the same for illegals. A country and its tax payers can only absorb so many and then out citizens begin to suffer.

I don’t care where they were from. Legal immigrants are subject to our laws and will be dealt with accordingly, illegals is the reason for places like GITMO. Because they are not a citizen or legal resident they are not subject to US law directly unless they are found IN the country like these people were. International law has proved untrustworthy.

Which only means we should be more vigilant of who is here and how they get here and stop it. Why is it so unpopular to protect the US border?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That is funny a place in Cuba full of Iraqs who were not invited :rotfl: :rotfl:
Just proves the point your only concern is for Mexican illegals and not the larger problem. Would you be satisfied if only Mexicans were offered amnesty and legalization and not Columbians, or Salvadorans…?

Wrong again, Texas. Those people in GITMO were explicitly invited to that place. The invitation is still valid for UBL and a few others.

Answer this question: Is a Mexican in Mexico subject to US law?

GITMO is an immoral action, which shows the US’s blatant disregard for sovereignty, human rights, and international law. Did you know how it was replaced when they became embarrassed by GITMO? They are now paying other countries to accept people we have captured and kidnap, then torture those people and tell us what they said. The whole issue is immoral work by weak men. Did you know they released some people from GITMO with no charges? I wonder if they apologized for the torture. I would not use the word “invitation” to accurately describe these actions. It makes no sense to me that forcing Middle Easterns to cross the Cuban border against their will is acceptable to some groups while others crossing a border of free will to work is considered a crime. I think your post explains a lot things.

Sorry, but I don’t understand your response here. If illegals in this country are subject to US law, why is it important which of these plotters are here illegally or legally? They’ll all be subject to the same laws right?

And what does GITMO have to do with illegal immigration? Were the people there trying to enter the US illegally?

That is the crux of the issue isn’t it? All illegals are not subject to the same laws. Do you think it justified that a Pakistani with a false ID in the US illegally be deported, but not the Mexican who does the same?

Would it be racist and bigoted to assume the illegal Iranian is more dangerous than the illegal Columbian?

The PC/open border crowd in America says it is racist to profile anyone because of race or religion, so asking a Mexican who does not speak english if he is here legally has become the crime. If a group of Muslims pray obviously and loudly before boarding a plane we are encouraged to just be trusting of their unknown intent because we sure would not want to hurt their feelings would we?
And what does GITMO have to do with illegal immigration? Were the people there trying to enter the US illegally?
I take a broad view with respect to illegal and undocumented individuals around the world as it affects the US. I don’t want to hijack this thread off US illegal immigration, but the Egyptian national found in Afghanistan/Iraq fighting US forces- where does he go and who adjudicates his case? The crime is against Americans, the jurisdiction is outside the US, and the individuals home country may or may not cliam the individual. Were the 9/11 murderers in the US legally?

I think you would agree that a legal Mexican, in Mexico is not subject to US law assuming that person commited no crime against America. Meaning we cannot force the Mexican to have a valid Mexican drivers liscense, or get a loan, or job or whatever. That is the responsibility of the Mexican authorities. Why? Becasue US law if for US citizens and residents as it effects the US within her borders.

The Constitution and Bill or Rights were established with respect to Americans. As much as we would like Iran to gurantee their citizens the right to free speech and freedom of religion like our rights do for us- it is not our place to enforce such laws for them there.

But when in this contry, our laws and rights apply to those here legally. I find it offensive that millions have marched for these “rights” when they do not abide by all of the laws.

Before the automobile, there were no speeding laws or the need to say it is against the law to run a stop sign. New things require new laws.

The existing US laws before 9/11 was not equiped to deal with being attacked like we were. Pearl Harbor in WW2 was dealt with by declaring war and fighting a nation. We have laws regarding war. But other than Afghanistan- who could we fight when we find non-Afghans (illegal Afghans)fighting the US. Should we have declared war on Saudi Arabia because many on the hijacked planes were Saudi? We have found Pakistani, Yemini, Sudanese nationals in Iraq and Afghanistan and Iraq. Iranians are found in Iraq fighting us. Should we declare war on all those nations or try and find something less encompassing to protect ourselves?

So we write new laws and hold such people off our shores until it can be adjudicated lawfully.

There are as many as 20+ million illegal South Americans in the US who by the nature of being illegal they broke the law getting here, many likely use false ID (fraud), and they impact the legal residents and citizens because they are acting outside of the law with respect to jobs and housing. In addition to those ecconomic refugees there are many others here illegally from other places such as Iran, Etheopia, Sudan, Russia, Syria… They are doing much of the same as the illegal south American ecconomic refugees. Some are even doing worse than just taking a US job- some plot death.

If I can’t even ask if someone is here legally, or what their intent is, but rather I am expected to sweep in and make legal everyone who is here now without correcting the problems that allowed them to come here in the first place- is a foolish proposition to any sane thinking person.

Well, my instinct says this is an attempt to hide the poor accusation which can not be properly defended because the accusations lack accuracy. However being one who likes to cooperate

*"Would you be satisfied if only Mexicans were offered amnesty and legalization and not Columbians, or Salvadorans…?" *This is a poor question I never asked for amnesty or legalization nor see a need for such? When you cross state lines which did you need was that amnesty or legalization? Sovereignty does not require a closed border it simply requires control of what happens in the country. Requiring an id is by no means denying access. In this day we can id people through picture we take when allowing entry, even with out the actual id.

"Is a Mexican in Mexico subject to US law?" another bad question, Iraqis, people of Afghanistan, and many others follow US authority/law whether they want to or not. A set of US Lawyers are trying to defend the rights of GITMO people in the US courts, as opposed to the Cuban courts ( they are in Cuba) This question is at the heart of sovereignty, some believe the US should have extreme sovereignty with in the US to include evasion of privacy, however many do not want the US to honor the sovereignty of others. My answer is the Mexican in Mexico is being affected by the US law

In closing, my instinct says this is an attempt to hide the earlier poor accusations.

Verisimilitude, sorry but I guess we’re just on different wavelengths here. All I’m doing is questioning your comment that drew attention to the status of the plotters arrested yesterday.

Every time someone here illegally gets involved in a crime, there’s this big fuss in the media, which to some extent I can understand. Someone committed a crime who shouldn’t have been here. But that’s really a simplistic way of looking at things. What prevents a (legal) citizen of their same background from getting involved in a similar crime? Nothing, as is evidenced by the fact that half of the plotters were here legally.

That’s all I’m saying. I’m not even discussing the rights or wrongs of profiling; I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to include immigration status as a factor making someone more prone to commit certain acts because it obviously doesn’t make a difference. Take any of the most talked about recent grisly crimes in recent times and you’ll have to admit that’s true.

Indeed, there are lots of immigrants here from every corner of the globe. I welcome those who come here legally with open arms. I cannot say the same for illegals. A country and its tax payers can only absorb so many and then out citizens begin to suffer.
I know MANY illegals who pay their taxes, these aren’t making any citizens suffer… they actually help the economy

If they pay taxes, good. But they are still here illegally, they have broken the law. But then many people think the end justifies the means. And I still maintain they are a drain on our schools, hospitals and other social services. How about social security–a system that is broken now and will get worse as time goes on if nothing is done to fix it. And the cowardly politicians of both sides do not want to take on the problem. They might lose votes. As I said before, I welcome legal aliens of all kinds to this country. But just how many do you think it fair for us to let in above and beyond the 100’s of thousands that are already here? Oops, my mistake, it is in the millions now.

I admire your kind heart, but I wonder about your common sense.
God bless.
