I think historic Protestant theology on the doctrine of justification brings out the finished work of Christ differently than Catholic theology on the doctrine of justification. So, yes in practical life, one view gives greater assurance and rest in the finished work of Christ than the other… IMO.Yet you make statements such as:
This is clearly an assertion that we DON’T rest in Christ’s finished work. Your statements do not point to any “point” of unity between Catholics and Protestants. It states, rather emphatically, that we don’t trust in Christ’s work. If you want us to believe that you believe we are “one in Christ” stop making statements that say otherwise.
- It’s better to be Protestant because historic Protestant theology rest in the finished work of Christ for our eternal standing before God, We are justified by the person and work of Jesus Christ who earned our complete forgiveness and reconciliation for us, We are saved from God to God, and for God on the basis of the work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, historic Protestant theology teaches that we have eternal peace with God because of the merit of Jesus Christ
