Salvation comes through true faith which is demonstrated by works (no works means no true faith James 2:24) Works includes (but is not limited to) such things as obedience to the True Church, works of mercy, etc.
That’s not a proclamation of the gospel. What is the good news of God?

What do you have faith in?

greatest revelation to mankind in His Son Jesus Christ.

The Supremacy of God’s Son

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Hebrews
Catholics don’t deny that but we also don’t deny Christ’s other revelations such as His Church which was built on Peter and through apostolic succession, through special laying on of the hands. Jesus also revealed how our Father wants us to worship, He revealed to us the way to heaven through the unwritten word and later, the written word.

Should we ignore all His revelations because of “The Greatest Revelation”?

I believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and of all things visible and invisible;

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only begotten Son of God,
begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light,
very God of very God,
begotten, not made,
being of one substance with the Father;
by whom all things were made;
who for us men and for our salvation
came down from heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost
of the Virgin Mary,
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried;
and the third day he rose again
according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of the Father;
and he shall come again, with glory,
to judge both the quick and the dead;
whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost the Lord, and Giver of Life,
who proceedeth from the Father [and the Son];
who with the Father and the Son together
is worshipped and glorified;
who spake by the Prophets.
And I believe one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church;
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;
and I look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. AMEN.

IMO… you are not able to proclaim the gospel because you don’t understand the good news of God. 🤷
No. What you are going to do, is no matter waht i put your reply will be “NO NO NO, YOU ARE WRONG BECAUSE YOU ARE A FILTHY CATHOLIC AND NOT A REAL CHRISTIAN LIKE I AM!!!”

Very well said

I’m also starting to believe that OIC either “doesn’t see” because he is blocking anything Catholic or is playing games as well.

I think Credit here goes to the Council of Nicea.

That’s an ecumenical creed which I receive and embrace too. However, the Apostle Paul or the Apostle Peter did not preach that creed to sinners. What must I do to be saved? Please answer according to the Apostle Peter or Apostle Paul. Historical Creeds are a good thing, but don’t confuse a creed with the good news (gospel).

That’s a smoke screen because you are not able to understand the gospel, or at least it seems. If I am wrong, please proclaim the gospel to me according to Peter or Paul.

I gave you the creed. That is good enough. I really don’t feel like copying the Scriptures verbatim

How about this : “Whosoever eats my flesh, and drinks my blood I will raise on the last day. But whoever does not eat my flesh or drink my blood has no life in him.”

Yep Loboto,you have caught his drift! He reminds me very much of a former poster who suddenly disappeared from the forums a couple of months back.😦

He starts out with posts that are vague and unclear, he gets us realed in , and we soon get his real drift. Sound familiar?:(:eek:

Are you saying that when the Philippian jailer asked the Apostles the question of “what must I do to be saved”, they quoted the ecumenical creed that you posted? :eek:

Since you partially quoted John 6, are you saying only Catholics and Orthodox Christians have life in Him only, and not other Christians who have faith in Christ? 🤷

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Here is a clue: You cannot have true faith in Christ if you refuse to believe what He said!

I embrace and receive so much Catholic doctrine because there is so much truth in it, that we are One in Christ. However, I believe the Catholic Church knows in part like any other church here on earth.

Of course not. I believe in true unity, which is of course reunion of communion of Protestants to Holy Mother Church.
If you are able to work your way to Heaven through the Catholic Church’s understanding of salvation, then you will know that the historic Protestant distinctive of justification by faith that appears to seperate us is true. 😉 One day, all those who are united to Christ by faith, will know the truth in full when we are in Heaven (of course we know that you don’t know if you will quite make it). Of course, I hope you make it to Heaven; therefore, I suggest you keep your eyes of Jesus the author and perfecter of our apostolic faith.

The problem with being a fruit inspector is not having the ability to accurately know the heart of another. You are taking this fruit inspector thing beyond what Christ revealed in the Scriptures. It is quite out of context. I thought being a fruit inspector was created by modern Protestants, but I had no idea Catholics embrace being fruit inspectors. i think if all Christians examined their own fruit or lack of it, we would be driven back to Jesus Christ each and every day. What did Jesus teach about removing the log out of our own eye before moving the spec from your brother’s eye? It sure seems you are preaching a moral gospel instead of the Gospel.
Why did I know you were going to mention the mote in the eye thing?

Let’s put all the context together.

So let’s put the “Judge Not Lest You Be Judged” thing in there to begin with. That would be Mat 7:1 That’s gotta be proof right there that we should just let everyone do what they want to do because the judger might get judged by that same judgement or worse.

Now we move on to the verse 3 : (the one you proudly preach) About removing the twig from my brother’s eye but not considering the mote/beam in thy own eye

Sounds like He’s talking about a hypocritical judgement doesn’t it? So let’s go to the next verses.

Or how wilt thou say to they brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Sounds to me He’s saying that it’s ok to judge but first you have to examine yourself or you’d be a hypocrite.

The Lord isn’t prohibiting honest judgement or discernment because he wouldn’t continue on by saying

**“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”? **

How are we supposed to beware of false prophets if we’re not to judge them? And the very next thing He says is:

“Ye shall know them by their fruits"

I don’t care whether this is a protestant thing or not, you’re the one who brought the fruit inspector term. I have no problem inspecting fruit as I believe that in order to honestly judge fruit, we gotta inspect it first.

If you are able to work your way to Heaven through the Catholic Church, then you will know that the historic Protestant distinctives that appear to seperate us is true.
We do not think we can “work our way to heaven” (Haven’t we gone over this?) Salvation is by grace through faith. And “faith without works is dead”!
Since it is quiz time, I have one for you: In John’s Gospel, one of the things Jesus said on the cross was “It is finished.” My question is this: What is “it”? Precisely what was finished?
