Theo, what’s interesting is that there are indeed impeachable offenses in the Muller Report. There is also almost daily fuel on the fire, Contempt of Congress being one of them.

Why are there Congressional committees investigating the President? Partly because he has probably done illegal things, partly because Congress can’t let his Kingly behavior go unchecked, and partly because he is acting guilty as sin.

I read an interesting article that basically said it’s true the Senate will never convict, but the House has to pursue impeachment for the good of the country and our system of government.

That really doesn’t fly between the branches of Govt. POTUS is allowed to claim executive privilege and it includes his supporting staff. All of Congress doesn’t have a right to see the fully unredacted report. This is how it has always worked on such reports, nothing new here but hysterical dems.

Trump’s Exec Privilege claim has precedence and must be challenged in the courts, it’s not a pathway directly to impeach. The case against Obama protecting Holder is in the courts where it belongs.

So they don’t have any actual stuff, but if they can did through the trash long enough, you think they can find something?

That liberals don’t like his personality isn’t impeachable.
Also, contempt carries a $1,000 max fine

The President and his advisors are not invoking Privilege when it comes to testimony. They are simply saying that senior Presidential advisors can not be compelled to testify about official duties. What else does Congress have oversight of? Golf club memberships?

This appears to be an administration hunkered down in the middle of a cover up. If they are so transparent, why aren’t they acting transparently?

This story lists the different impeachment articles filed by Dems.

  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Inciting White Supremacy, Sexism, Bigotry, Hatred, Xenophobia, Race Baiting and Racism
  • Associating the Majesty of the Presidency with causes Rooted in White Supremacy, Bigotry, Racism, Anti-Semitism, White Nationalism and Neo-Nazism
  • Perfidy (had to look this one up - untrustworthiness)
  • Encouraging Law Enforcement Officials to Violate the Constitutional Rights of Suspects in Their Care, Custody and Control
  • Violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause
  • Violation of the Domestic Emoluments Clause
  • Undermining the Federal Judiciary
  • Undermining the Freedom of the Press
Outside of the Obstruction charge, they mostly reek of TDS. There are legal standards for this charge. So far though, Mueller didn’t think it went that far, or he would have indicted like he did against everyone else with a sound case.

He doesn’t need to invoke EP for himself or his immediate staff, Congress doesn’t have the right to compel them. Congress controls the funding, not the WH staff.

As I said there is precedent for trump’s position, it’s not without merit… Anyway I’m no expert and will let our 3rd branch decide this spat.

We have to persevere in the good plans we have for our country despite the obstruction of the Democrats and traitorous participants in high gov places!
In 2020 we can all refresh ourselves with a 2nd term for Pres Trump and those in the House and Senate willing to take care of our country’s business. Meanwhile, efforts have to be followed through to achieve success without the obstructionists, if we can. The meanwhile is for tough Americans, not the stop and block types.

The President’s position only makes sense in a perfect world. In an imperfect one, the Congress and the Courts are a check on a corrupt Executive. Think about it that way - not just in the present but in what the founding fathers put in place. An unchecked Executive with absolute power and no oversight is a tyrant. The founders just won a war against a tyrant. I doubt they set up a system of government in which one could flourish.

Amazing the tyrant President lets you post from the concentration camp you’re undoubtedly in…Camps with WiFi? Who’d of thunk it…

You don’t understand how the checks work.

Congress controls the budget and can override vetoes, they must also approve his appointments.

They can subpoena lots of other people, even if POTUS has given them a pardon. But they can’t compel the executive branch to testify if they don’t want to.

You also seem to have a short memory. The Obama administration was infamous for ignoring multiple subpoena’s from the GOP Congress for documents pertaining to open investigations like the Benghazi hearings, drone strikes on American citizens overseas and the Uranium One deal, among many others.

If Obama complied at all it was after a long protracted battle in which some members of his cabinet were even declared in contempt of Congress. Slow-walking and outright refusal was Obama’s policy.

And this wasn’t unique to Obama or Trump. To the best of my knowledge no President has ever responded to a subpoena from Capitol Hill.

The courts rule on EO and legality
They check in different ways than you are hoping.

I’ve read some articles that basically say the House has to take up an impeachment inquiry to keep separation of powers intact and to prevent the imperial presidency from taking hold.
What has this president done to promote an “imperial presidency”? If anything, he has endeavored to reduce the power of the general government.
I tend to agree that there are a bazillion impeachable offenses already committed by this President.
And Robert Mueller and his band of angry Democrats couldn’t find one.
It’s not the outcome that is important, it’s the process.
My goodness. It isn’t whether the report found a crime, it’s how long we can continue this charade.

Concentration camps are the venue of Democrats. They just call them “internment” camps.

More evidence of the charade is that they are throwing fits because Mueller refuses to testify publicly before Congress, but he has offered to testify privately.

It’s all about media spin, not facts.

Oh, contrere. They have to impeach to quiet the screaming socialists in their base.

They would get the testimony either way, but privately is not good enough for them, it absolutely positively has to be public. And why is that? Adding fuel to the TDS dumpster fire, perhaps? Grasping at straws, perhaps?

It was Mueller’s mission to obstruct Trump, not the other way around.

There are congressional committees investigating Trump because Mueller didn’t charge him with a crime and so the Democrats will keep them going in order to impeach at most or just make him look bad at least.

He has “probably” done illegal things? A ridiculous charge, and you want to impeach him for “probably” as you see it?

He’s “acting” guilty, and you want him impeached because you think he’s “acting” guilty? Guilty of what, or have you not thought that far with it?

He’s threatening abortion on demand and to the Dems THAT is an impeachable offense.

Muller left a blueprint for later prosecution and/or congressional inquiry. And Trump doesn’t need Democrats to make him look bad. He wished Japanese sailors a Happy Memorial Day. He sided with the dictator of North Korea against a former US Vice President, on foreign soil.
He has “probably” done illegal things? A ridiculous charge, and you want to impeach him for “probably” as you see it?
Please read my posts and don’t respond to things I didn’t say. The part of my post you quoted was answering the question “Why are Congressional committees investigating the President”. I listed three reasons, and you responded with something about impeachment. That had nothing to do with my post.
He’s “acting” guilty, and you want him impeached because you think he’s “acting” guilty? Guilty of what, or have you not thought that far with it?
Once again, stop making things up. Do not respond to things I did not say. I listed reasons that committees were investigating him.
