Pardon my ignorance, but why is Cardinal Kasper pushing for Holy Communion for the divorced and remarried?

Because he believes those who are in difficult situations and other sinners shouldn’t be denied access to the Host as they are the most in need.

I can see the issue clearly from both sides, so I am trusting God to guide the Church because such decisions are above my pay grade.

However, I can say that as a divorced and remarried woman who is in the process of converting and has been waiting for a decree of Nullity for 1 year, 8 months with only a Court of First Instance decision I really do wish the Church would either speed up the annulment process by making improvements in the process itself and the number of staff available at Tribunals or allow Bishops/priests to interview those in irregular situations to see if they could be admitted to the Sacraments on a case by case basis while awaiting decisions.

BTW, since I am always asked these questions regarding my annulment… No, there were no witness delays. No, my ex is not participating in the process and he did send a response to the Tribunal to that effect. Yes, I live in the US in a major metropolitan area. And, no, neither myself or my ex were married in a religious ceremony or practicing any religion at the time. The reason my case is taking so long to complete is simply that the Tribunals here are overworked and understaffed.

Why has a cardinal from America and a cardinal from the Philippines met in England? Are there more meeting up?

Just a coincedence, and they were at seperate venues. I know that Cardinal Burke was visiting SS Peter Paul and Philomena in New Brighton, but other than that I’m not sure what else he was doing.

That depends on whether you are looking for the PC answer or the more cynical and probably correct other answer.

I prefer a straight forward correct answer. Is what MJJEAN said the correct and PC answer or is there more to it?
