This was an extremely interesting article. I had of course heard of consecrated virgins but I thought they were all sisters or in some type of religious order.

Thanks for the link.

I hope these newly consecrated virgins will be blessed abundantly as they live their lives.

Mary.

Beautiful story -thank you.
We have one consecrated virgin in our diocese and she joins with other young women for prayer at the monastery. She was born in Vietnam, raised atheist. Then converted to the Catholic faith after visiting the Trappist monastery, then made her vows (pictured below, then scroll down under the picture for her story).

Her art work is simply amazing - clearly an artistic genius. Her icons and paintings are visible on another page which I don’t have at the moment.

I’ve seen it argued that while nuns / sisters are the female counterparts of monks / brothers / friars, consecrated virgins are the female counterpart of priests. A priest is mystically conformed to Christ the Groom. A consecrated virgin is mystically conformed to the Church as the virgin Bride.
I understand that the consecration rite, which is always celebrated by a bishop, is almost like a cross of a wedding and an ordination.

I wish I was a virgin I would like to do that, oh well, but I still call the Lord my husband as I am single and committed to Him in my heart! ;)🙂

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women and blessed is the
fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
NOW and at the hour of our death. Amen!
