In Memory: Jeanne Kirkpatrick

[gilliam]

Former U.N. Ambassador Jeane J. Kirkpatrick has passed away, a servant of her nation who honored it with her courage and moral clarity. In memory, here is her classic 1979 article Dictatorships and Double Standards, considered “one of the three most famous essays in the history of American foreign policy.” (Here is a summary as well.)

Wow, talk about a straight shooter. I wonder if the new UN ambassador will fill half of one of her shoes.

RIP. Just the other day on one of these threads I posted the dream-team @ the UN would be J. Kirkpatrick and John Bolton. A woman of immense integrity.

Jean Kirkpatrick was a very steadfast American who performed valiantly at the UN. She was appointed by Ronald Reagan. It will never forget her “blame America first”. I’m sure you can Google it. It is worth reading. She started life as a Democrat who switched parties. She was a vigorous foe of Communism. Dr. Kirkpatrick was an admitted recovering alcoholic and her progress in this area is to be much admired. IMO, our country has lost a giant.
