It does not look like he will make it until the morning - he has been in hospice for months…

He is 94 years old, a father of 3, grandfather of 9, great-grandfather of 6 with one on the way… A WW2 vet, a good guy, and a decent man.

In his last hours his family will be with him and he has recieved Last Rites. Please pray for good death, the consolation of our family and the repose of his soul.

Saint Joseph, Patron of Good Death, pray for us!

Heavenly Father, in Your infinite mercy, please draw closer than ever, now and forever, ASimpleSinner’s grandfather. And when his hour has come, welcome Him into Your eternal banquet of joy. Comfort with grace those who remain on earth and suffer for his situation. Mary, pray with us. Amen. :harp:

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

I will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for him now. I’m so sorry.

I just lost my grandfather last week, so my heart especially goes out to you, your family, and especially your grandfather. I will also pray a Chaplet of Divine Mercy tonight before I go to bed.

your grandfather is in my prayer…
I will pray Divine Mercy Chaplet for him…

Will pray Chaplet of Divine Mercy as well for your grandfather. Keeping you and the rest of your family in my prayers as well.

Saint Joseph, patron saint of a happy death, grant through your intercession that there may not be a violent end to the life of ASimpleSinner’s grandfather. We ask that you will obtain for his soul a peaceful transition from the temporal world, and that his reception of the Lord in the sacraments one last time before he passes through the veil will give him peace and hope to see God face to face.

Mary, mother most gentle and loving, be with this man as his soul prepares to move on to eternity. Carry him in your arms as your child and bring him, with the saints and angels, to the throne of Jesus.

Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly pray that You will forgive the sins of ASimpleSinner’s grandfather. If he must go through Purgatory, let his stay there be brief; show Your mercy to him, and grant him a share in the eternal banquet of Heaven. Amen.

I just read this, recently I read that when praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to keep in mind all of those who have died today and that will die within the next 24 hours, so today while I was at Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, I prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with that intension in mind.
If you can, pray the Chaplet in his presence.
I will keep all of your intensions in my prayers, with the intercession of St. Joseph, Patron St. of a Good Death.
I am so happy that you had a Priest there for the Annointing of the Sick. God bless you, your Grandfather and your family.

I will pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy for your grandfather this morning.

Merciful and loving Lord, you alone conceived of this spirit, who became a son, a spouse, a father, a grandfather and finally, great-grandfather. From all eternity You loved him for what he was, and would become. You consider him an irreplaceable part of Your Divine plan. You bought him into existence and sustained him through many times and troubles. As he looks forward, with great anticipation to Your consolation, remember that his anointing has forgiven his sins and healed his spirit. Please allow him to enjoy these last moments on earth, surrounded by those who love him, and whom he loves in return. Fill his mind with wonder about, and desire for Your Kingdom, which he has pondered his entire life. Graciously fill him with comfort and renew his faith and trust in You. Though it is such a profound sorrow to say goodbye for now, Lord, how can we deny Your Kingdom such a worthy soul? Let us not consider ourselves and our feelings, but rather grandpa’s needs, as well as Your desire that he spend eternity with You. Rather, Lord, comfort his family and loved ones with the assurance of the promises You have made and kept since before time began. We ask this through Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Praying for your grandfather, you and your entire family.

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

Praying for a peaceful death for this good man and that God comfort his family!

Praying for your intentions:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary

I thank everyone for their prayers!

As an update… Inexplicably his breathing and vitals became normal on the low end Friday evening and that is where things have remained. Friday around noon we were confident things were in the last few hours… Today we are not sure what has happened. The end is close, but (again inexplicably) he continues to hold on.

It is worth noting that his own parents, my great-grandparents, both lived to be 102… Although suffering from the later stages of Alzheimers for 8 years now, the man does not take a single med for blood pressure, heart, etc. On his last physical the doctors said he had the heart of a man 25 years younger… He is a real old-time French work-horse…

I really appreciate all the prayers, in the near future when he arrives at his final end in Heaven with the Holy Trinity, the BVM and all the Angels and Saints, I know he will be thinking of all of you who have so generously offered prayers for his peaceful and unashamed repose.

Thank you again.
