Why would you not read something that seems interesting simply because you are not Catholic? :confused:
 
Thanks for the link, this does look interesting. It helps to see the Pontiff is more in touch than many think. Still, I wonder what keeps him from carrying out such ideas.

Because I am gathering that he’s discussing issues pertaining to the Catholic Church. I’m not Catholic, I can’t relate to that…

I bet you would have no interest in reading Dawkins or Hitchens-Same difference, or, well, along the same lines…

Why would we not have an interest in reading Dawkins or Hitchens? Well, Hitchens, maybe. But that’s because he’s a jerk, not because he’s an atheist.
 
He [The Pope] said he began distributing Communion on the tongue during papal Masses not because he was opposed to Communion in the hand, but to “send a signal” about respect for the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

I just ordered a copy for myself and one for my Dad for Christmas. It looks really interesting. I bet the media will read it, searching for a scandel and be dissappointed.
 
I’ll be reading it. Ignatius Press says the ebook version will be available in a day or two, I’ll get it then.

I think there’s generally a preference for reading what supports your own opinions. If you have limited reading time, why read what you object to? It does help improve your understanding of your own beliefs, or at least the arguments made for and against them, but psychologically people get more out of affirmation than opposition.

Yes, the media will read it and they will find “scandal” as they always do. They will do so by taking things out of context and running with them.

That is why we need to either read the book ourselves or have others read it so that they can defend when the media spins.
