In quoting the Word of God do Catholics want it both ways?

Robert Heibel:
Not if the Word of God backs up everything that is told to me
Circular argument: “I’m right because God to me I’m right.”

Fact: If you contradict Church doctrine, no matter what sources you claim to have, you are wrong. The Church, not you, is the guardian of God’s revelation.

– Mark L. Chance.

The Church is right no matter what the Word of God says, is that what your saying? That is one of the biggest reasons everyone needs to go to Jesus personally, to be sure of the truth. The Church is all the people not just Pope.

Since that isn’t what I said…

Robert, we know what the Church is, its the People of God, the Body of Christ, the Temple of the Holy Spirit. May I ask you who you think compiled the Holy Bible? (we know who did that too, and why, do you?)
One other thing, its nice that you want to share your faith, and we are happy to share our’s too, you can’t have a more personal relationship than we do with Jesus HIMSELF, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament-which is HE, HIMSELF. Why not go into a Catholic Church and spend some time with HIM?

Yes Christian people led by the Holy Spirit gathered the writings that the Holy Spirit said belonged in the Word of God. Yes Jesus gave us His body and blood as Spiritual food, but He also said His people would hear His voice, so I wonder if those who haven’t heard His voice, are they His people or not?

Did you know that we Catholics are the first Christians? Did you know that in John, chapter 6 that Jesus instituted the Sacrament of Holy Communion? Did you know that He is really present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity? Did you know that at Baptism we are born again of water and the Spirit and we are made children of God? Did you know that in 1Timothy3:15 that it says the Church of the living God is the pillar and foundation of the Truth?

Yes I believe everything you just wrote, but where we might have some disagreement is with the definition of who makes up the Church of God. You see I believe the Church of God all those who have heard the Word of God and Live it. I don’t believe a person who kills another person, who deliberately performs a serious sin, has possessions stored and knows of others in need and doesn’t take care of their needs, and who collects interest on money, can be part of the Church of God.

not that I do any of those things you listed, …however, who do you think Jesus came for? The righteous or sinners? I mean if we are going to go around taking everyone’s personal inventory then I think it’s time that someone  ought to go to Confession. Ever hear of removing the plank from your own eye before trying to take the splinter from your brothers’?

And personal revelation that contradicts public revelation is not any kind of revelation at all.

– Mark L. Chance.
Mark,

God might have given him a message, but I believe he misunderstood it’s real meaning if it was from God. Personally, I am guessing it was a message twisted by a force other than the Holy Spirit…

Maybe so, but either way the end result is the same: He’s wrong.

“God personally told me” is the tried and true trick of the false teacher. It is impossible to prove; therefore, it is impossible to refute. As a result, it makes it easier to prey on those weaker in their faith.

At base, Robert’s entire spiel is ludicrous. God waited for centuries after the Ascension to finally contact him in order to set the entire world, including Christ’s own Church, straight on the “real meaning” of Scripture.

I’d find it easier to believe in no God at all.

Guess the pope can’t be a part of the Chruch of God then. Because the Knights of Columbus give him interest money from the Vicarius Christi Fund to use at his discretion.

Hmmm, you and Jesus don’t seem to be on the same page…

You should do some Scriptural research on usury (interest) and on what Jesus said about giving anyone something and what to expect in return.

Robert I have to thank you. You are giving us all a great lesson in persistence. I think you’re wrong (Edited for charity by moderator), but you are persistent. Grats on that.

Jesus told me it’s ok to earn interest on money. He also told me it’s ok to shoot bad guys. And that the Catholic Church is right. You should talk to my son, he’s got a pretty good grip on this stuff, in his forth quarter of kindergarten now too.

Later, dude.

Saying someone is wrong is easy, why don’t you show me in Scripture where I’m wrong?

Show me where I’m wrong using the Word of God.

You didn’t find those teachings in the Word of God.

Ecclesiastes 3:3
a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

Jesus speaks to me as well, through the Pope, Magisturium, and Holy Scriptiure, but loud and clear.
