If it isn’t in the Word of God (the Bible if you dont’ know where to find the Word of God) it didn’t come from Jesus. You’ve show me that I don’t have to, Jesus told me these things.

I don’t recollect Jesus telling Peter to let his wife get raped. If it isn’t in the Word of God (the Bible if you dont’ know where to find the Word of God) it didn’t come from Jesus.
Very sadly, this is precisely what we’ve been trying to do for the last two pages of posts. Whenever we succeed, you either ignore us or tack on a non-sequitur Scriptural citation that is entirely subject to your own self-righteous interpretation.Show me where I’m wrong using the Word of God.
I checked my bible again. Didn’t find you there. If it isn’t in the Word of God (the Bible if you dont’ know where to find the Word of God) it didn’t come from Jesus.
Jesus didn’t tell his apostles to write anything. Only a few of them did that and they did it on their own accord. Jesus didn’t write anything down either (other than something on the ground, but we don’t even know what it was). There was no such thing as a Bible until the late 300’s when the canon was finalized by guess who? - the Catholic Church. What did the Christians do until then if they needed a Bible to hear God’s Word?! They listened to the Church! As for the origins of the Bible, there were several hundred gospels claiming inspiration before this time (300’s). Whether you know it or not, you have accepted the infallible authority of the magisterium of the Catholic Church as well as the Tradition of the Church by accepting the authority of Scripture because Tradition was used to determine those books that were inspired and those books that were counterfeited by the gnostics and the leaders of the Church were the ones doing the determining! And ya know what? A pope had to approve it all. So you can thank the good old Catholic Church for putting that Bible in your hand that you seem to be so fond of thumping. Christ *did not * leave us with a book. He left us with twelve men to be His authoritative Church. And it was this Church that gave us the Bible. It’s odd how some people put so much trust in a book they don’t even know the origins of. Don’t get me wrong, the Bible is most definately the authoritative Word of God, but it has it’s place in the Church. And it’s place is not as the sole rule of faith. May you be lead to the truth, my friend. If it isn’t in the Word of God (the Bible if you dont’ know where to find the Word of God) it didn’t come from Jesus.
Very sadly, we already see this somewhat in the crowd that believes that they are simply Christian, with no church affiliation, and only the Bible and the Holy Spirit to guide them. This certainly is not what Jesus taught–on the contrary, he prayed to the Father “that all might be one” (John 17:21). In sorrow for those who attack Holy Mother Church, I must echo Our Lord’s words.Isn’t this exactly what is happening to non-Catholic ecclesial communities? They are imploding due to these never ending splits. The splinters are getting smaller and smaller, and eventually if this keeps up, each member theoretically will be his own ecclesial community.
And this is my way of making it official! We need to ratchet up our charity instead of our frustration. This thread has challenged my patience so I can certainly identify with some of the aggravation. Nevertheless, let’s all take a deep breath and say a short prayer for patience, guidance, and additional charity.
