This is mentioned in both the OT and NT - so would or could anyone speculate if there actually could have been or was a beginning or just a continuum viz a steady state and no big bang - twinc

Simply put, the beginning was when God started making stuff.

Twinc: Ezekiel 28:11-19. and Isaiah 14:12-14 show Lucifer rebelling against God and exalting his throne which was on earth. He tried. to defeat God and he kicked him back to earth. This why Lucifer was in the garden working through the serpent at the time of Adam and Eve.
Genesis 1:2 is judgement which was lucifer’s flood. Between Genesis 1:1 and vs 2 amount of time not mentioned.
The big bang according to evolution is not scriptural. Hebrews 11 states the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. The beginning for the human race of Adam and Eve was a recreation of earth destrroyed in the luciferian flood. God Bless Jerry Kelso

beg your pardon - the flood was after Adam and Eve and not before and things were made ex nihilo - was there nothing at the same time as God in the beginning,if so when did the beginning start after God etc - twinc

The Big Bang is just human interpretation of human science attempting to theorize the beginning of the known finite Universe. Emphasis on the word theorize because humans know so very little about the vast universe.

I think many people in this world have a difficulty believing God can create anything out of nothingness because really nobody can conceivably fathom what nothingness is.
Before the so called Big Bang I don’t believe a void or continuum had to exist.
And because God is Infinite there’s no such thing as the human concept of time as humans comprehend it.

so how did two Catholic Priests come up with the idea of a big bang that has since been accepted widely - as is also the theories of another Catholic priest viz Fr.Teilhard deChardin - twinc

twinc: Genesis 1:2: And the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. This is judgement.
Psalm 24:2: For he hath founded it upon the seas and established it upon the floods. He established it upon the floods in vs. 2 which was before day 1 of let there be light. The second day was the firmament called Heaven which are the atmospheric heavens. Day 3 is when God had the waters under the heavens gather together and the dry land appeared and God called the dry land Earth and the gathering of the seas was how the earth was founded on them.
Genesis 1:1; the original creation and Genesis 1:2; judgement upon original creation because of lucifer’s rebellion and thus, resulting in recreation of our six days of this world.
God had no beginning or end but there is one thing that was present with God from the beginning and that was wisdom. Proverbs 8:22-31. The lord possesed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old, I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Who said two Catholic priests came up with idea of the Big Bang Theory?

Here’s a scientific agnostic approach to the Big Bang Theory big-bang-theory.com/

One other point I wanted to bring up is why should scientific human understanding of physics have to coincide with God the creator?

God is the alpha and the omega, He exists outside of time and space. To try to force his existence into categories that we can comprehend is futile.

unknowingly you also brought up the two Catholic priests on the website you quoted viz Fr.Friedman and Fr.Lemaitre in the 1920s and updated by Gamow in the 1940s. Astronomer David Darling warns “Dont let the cosmologists try to kid you on this one. They have not got a clue either - despite the fact that they are doing a pretty good job of convincing themselves and others that this is really not a problem”.Red shift and background radiationevidences are inconclusive. The laws of thermodynamics, gravity and information are, however, conclusive. There was no big bang[CSM 317] - twinc

I believe 'In the beginning" is an other word for “In the Word”

God have always existed, therefore He has always have the capacity to create. He is himself the Beginning.

I think Time is itself something which is created whenever God engage in creation. Time is change from state A to state B.

there was no flood at Psalm 24:2 - twinc
Twinc: you gave no proof for your statement. I gave you scriptural proof that reconciles with the luciferian kingdom on earth which was the original garden of eden; Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14. Psalm 24:2 is talking about the begiinning of our creation which started in verse 3 when God said let there be light. It was established on the floods which was in v 2, which was before the 1st day and the seas which was on the third the same day the dry land called earth appeared. Can’t you at least muster up some kind of evidence? God bless! Jerry Kelso

whatever the purpose of the Luciferian flood may have been ,it seems it accomplished nothing for Lucifer and his lot were still prowling the earth - btw Psalm 24:2 does not say floods but rivers and vs 9 & 10 clarify vs1 &2 - twinc

CCC 290 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”: three things are affirmed in these first words of Scripture: the eternal God gave a beginning to all that exists outside of himself; he alone is Creator (the verb “create” - Hebrew bara - always has God for its subject). The totality of what exists (expressed by the formula “the heavens and the earth”) depends on the One who gives it being.

CCC 291 “In the beginning was the Word. . . and the Word was God. . . all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.” The New Testament reveals that God created everything by the eternal Word, his beloved Son. In him “all things were created, in heaven and on earth… . all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” The Church’s faith likewise confesses the creative action of the Holy Spirit, the “giver of life”, “the Creator Spirit” (Veni, Creator Spiritus), the “source of every good”.

excellent quotes, well known to most but it does not apply or answer the question that is asked - please try again - twinc

I believe the Big Bang was actually small…at least in the beginning…

what do you think
O astronomer twinc ?
you mean a small big bang that was not anyway or at least not a black hole but a white hole to put it in black and white - some say there never was a time when the Universe was not[in God]in the beginning and so we have a steady state and not a small big bang even - twinc

twinc: the KJV says floods; if the interpretation is river you could be right but it doesn’t change the fact of the flood in Genesis 1:2. The fact is I’ve given proof for the time that satan ruled this prresent earth and it was before Adam and Eve came along and he was in the garden when adam and Eve was there and hell that was prepared for the devil and his angels is in the lower parts of the earth. You can disagree but at least give some kind of scriptural proof.God bless! Jerry Kelso
