Im just referring to what ive read about the Church during that period of time.Ive done quite a bit.Anyone can disagree if they have a better knowledge of the facts. That’s what I was really searching for .But so far no one has really given me any diffinetive answers.I sure there are some.so I will just wait until someone with better knowledge responds. As you said St.Ambrose is a recognized Saint.I sure that the kings chose some very good people(usealy fromthe nobles)who became very good bishops.I don’t know that they always made good choices. Also how can kings always know a good man when he choose him?
I guess I should defend in a different way. That is ultimately, what are you trying to prove to yourself?

Do you fear the faith has been corrupted by evil intentions? If so learn the faith of the Early Church Fathers. Does their faith match the current position of the Church? If it does, then your Church is in fact the Apostolic Church carrying the faith revealed by God himself and not just a collection of men.

Whatever it is, your faith, once questioned (which is healthy), must be fed answers. History is your guide. And not second, and certainly not modern third and fourth sources. I mean read the Fathers, read the councils, find the truth from the horses mouth.

Heavens no.At least not in the present form that we have today.Yes,more closely than in the past.THank you.Im Catholic.i haven’t read much of the councils.

I do not know details about the French Kings, but some facts about the Hungarian Kings (also Austrian emperors):
  • related to the modern democracies they were incomparable way Catholic, and defended the Catholic faith
  • originally the King had the nomina6tion right for the bishop, because the both way secure communication lasted between Rome and their Kingdom lasted over a year, and the King was much more trust-able than someone claiming to talk in the name of the pope.
  • later the nomination (not the ordination, neither the installation only the nomination) was custom only. The letter fro pope Silvester II allegedly giving to the Hungarian King and his successors Apostolic right (nominating bishops) is 17th century forgery. Rome did not protested, until problems arise in the 20th century.
why do you believe rome didn’t protest?I see you are saying It was satified until problems arose in the 20th century? What kind of problems?
