I guess I should defend in a different way. That is ultimately, what are you trying to prove to yourself?Im just referring to what ive read about the Church during that period of time.Ive done quite a bit.Anyone can disagree if they have a better knowledge of the facts. That’s what I was really searching for .But so far no one has really given me any diffinetive answers.I sure there are some.so I will just wait until someone with better knowledge responds. As you said St.Ambrose is a recognized Saint.I sure that the kings chose some very good people(usealy fromthe nobles)who became very good bishops.I don’t know that they always made good choices. Also how can kings always know a good man when he choose him?
Do you fear the faith has been corrupted by evil intentions? If so learn the faith of the Early Church Fathers. Does their faith match the current position of the Church? If it does, then your Church is in fact the Apostolic Church carrying the faith revealed by God himself and not just a collection of men.
Whatever it is, your faith, once questioned (which is healthy), must be fed answers. History is your guide. And not second, and certainly not modern third and fourth sources. I mean read the Fathers, read the councils, find the truth from the horses mouth.
