I am just very disappointed and even mad right now. This country has completely lost all sense of moral and piety. This is a very tragic day in reality and to us who follow Christ’s light and know the Truth as it states in John 18:37 and many other verses. I really do not know any other emotion to feel but pity sadness and anger. I cannot even stay on Reddit’s website, Yahoo, twitter or even Google’s knowing that their logo is nothing else but the LGBT pride flag. It’s a miracle how God’s wrath hasn’t been entirely unleashed on us…yet. All we can do is pray and continue to get for God’s mercy and grace to step forward and defend the faith in the Name of Jesus. I sense dark days approaching soon. It’s only a matter of time until this world of sin know’s God.

I take comfort from the Old Testament. It’s not the first time the world has gone bananas. Think of all the times the Israelites sinned even after personally seeing the mighty works of God. Throughout it all…God endures. Eventually, in His own ways, He conquers.

The United States is no longer a Christian nation, just like Ireland is no longer a Catholic Nation.

But real kicker is that in the US, we didn’t get to vote. We were forced into this by 5 people.

The founding fathers said that America would only continue to succeed as long as the law was based on Judeo/Christian Morals. Obviously, it no longer is.

The Supreme Court is made up of 6 Catholics and 3 Jews. The three Jews and 2 Catholics have completely ignored the Old Testament and have legalized Sodom and Gomorrah.

I’m afraid that this ruling (along with Roe v Wade) is going to lead to more people burning in hell. 😦

May The Lord grant us mercy for they know not what they do. Amen.

The same-sex “marriage” train left the station in Canada some years ago. So far the sky hasn’t fallen.

Note that I don’t support same-sex “marriage”, and even lobbied against it by writing to my MP and the Prime Minster at the time. Fat lot of good that did. So now we have a new reality thrust on us; “gay” no longer means joyful, and “marriage” no longer means the union of a man and a woman. At least in the secular world.

The reality though is that it affects a minority of the population (that does however manage to make a disproportionate amount of noise about it). The straight, validly and sacramentally married still have the beauty of sacramental grace flowing from God via our marriages. No amount of secular follies can take that away from us.

What’s important is to first preserve and protect the Truth within the Church. The next most important thing is to evangelize. Let’s face it, Catholics lecturing to a largely pagan society aren’t going to be heard. At best we’re laughed at as bigoted dinosaurs, at worse… well some of us are being beheaded as we speak in some parts of the world.

The only real way to influence others is to bring them in the Church. This needs to be done with love, charity, and by example, that is making our own lives a shining beacon of Truth by focusing on our own internal conversion and renunciation of sin.

Two whom were appointed by our current president. Votes do count!

(my first post happens to be today, perhaps a bigger topic than befitting a newbie)

I don’t think it does anyone any good to look behind us and figure out how to get back to where it was before the supreme court decision. It won’t be overturned any time soon.

It can be a teachable moment to show that CATHOLIC marriage is different. It is sacramental. It is permanent. It is designed. It has purpose. It has always been different, but now we have some very broad definitions that simply highlight it more. I think at one point the difference was fuzzy. Couples who got civil marriages but not Church marriages didn’t understand after the fact why their marriage wasn’t recognized in the Church. Now is the time to really answer those questions.

Politically the best thing we can do is defend those who silently abstain. The caterers who don’t want to cater marriages they’re uncomfortable with and so forth. These people need thoughts, prayers, and supporting words now more than ever.

As OraLabora says it isn’t really the end of the world. I think the time we’ve lived in has been the exception where being Christian doesn’t make you feel incredibly out of place, and we’re entering a new era where it will take real courage to be Christian.

I stated my objections on FB and my cousin and one of his FB friends were not happy with me. I know my cousin is a liberal, but he has small children coming up. I wonder how he will feel about SSM in 15 to twenty years. I think SSM legality is just another nail in the coffin with more nails to be hammered in. Assisted suicide, Euthanasia, forced Euthanasia, forced abortions, forced sterilizations, are well within the Liberal spectrum. The moral compass is broken and the needle is spinning wildly. Does Nazi Germany and China come to mind?😦

For Funky- would not silence-to abstain-be like the sin of omission?

By silent abstinence I mean people who may not want to openly speak about marriage every day, but simply choose to keep it out of their own lives and not offer implicit condonation. The example I gave is a business owner who chooses not to participate in a gay marriage, say a caterer, musician or owner of a hall. How these people are treated will be the real test, as it will show whether our faith is truly respected. The narrative (and implicit promise) has been “we’ll do our thing, you do yours” but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Also, I don’t think silence is always a sin of omission. Speaking on an issue isn’t necessarily everyone’s charism. You can’t make a body with all mouths. Plus, too much chatter can leave the most important listeners with a tin ear, and I think careful words are better than more abundant words. But, that is simply my own opinion.

Our best argument will always be cherishing marriage amongst ourselves, keeping it alive, and demonstrating it for others. Words will never really match it.

Jesus was mocked. The clergy’s avoidance of warning of sin, satan and hell may have played a part to where we are now.

I’m surprised you didn’t use the forum’s old standby…preach the Gospel at all times and if necessary use words. lol

Jesus warned us much about sin, satan and hell and he sent the apostles out to a hostile world to preach, not to mingle.

It all started with the bible and prayer being taken out of school. If you want to reverse then trend you have to get it back into our schools.

God gives time to a nation to repent before he is forced to purify.

Google “east coast Tsunami.”

Now I’m a bit worried. You really think that’s why that happened? It’s fine if you do but I don’t.

I will sleep well tonight, because my faith teaches me the gates of the Netherworld will not prevail against the only Holy, Christian, and Apostolic Church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Marriage is still very much a secular institution.

And, fortunately, Holy Matrimony is still very much a Sacrament of the Church.

Not everyone in the world is going to follow Church teachings and enter into Sacramental matrimony. Not even anyone in our own Catholic parishes do.

Its sad, its disappointing, but neither can we claim that it is the event that triggers the tipping point where the breaking open of the 7th seal is imminent.

Peace and all good!

I heard the news when I was driving on the expressway, I wasnt totally shocked, kinda figured it was going to go this way, but still, hearing it being official now, was depressing.

I really think God is going to destroy a couple more cities in the US after this…its obvious the direction we are heading, now its in Gods hands to show us the errors of our ways, just like he did with Sodom and Gomorrah, only question is, which cities will it be…? Im actually a little surprised something like this didnt happen today, (or some kind of major natural disaster somewhere in the world), but I guess Gods time is different than ours, but I would be curious if anyone knows the amount of time from when God warned Sodom and Gomorrah, until he finally destroyed them, this should give us a hint at his ‘timeline’…right?

The talk station I was listening to at the time, had people calling in voicing their opinions of this, and wouldnt you know, this man called, said he was happy at the decision and he is planning to request a marriage at a christian church in his area…I could tell he is just doing this out of spite, knowing it will put the church in a very hard spot, but thats probably his intent…however this goes, it will be interesting to watch the headlines the next few days…I would bet ‘something’ happens, God will not let this stand for long.

As I have said in other threads, gay marriage is not about gays being able to marry. It is step in removing Christianity from our society. We are headed for a continuingly more difficult period as Christians. Society is not going back anytime soon and as this ideaology progresses it will push to remove Christian Faith from every aspect of our common life.

This morning people on the tv were already saying they now have to start changing the churches. Mrs. Clinton has publicly said that Church beliefs will have to change. And lastly for a pertinent paraphrase from Abp. Charles Chaput: “Evil always speaks about tolerance until it is in power. Then it works to destroy good, because the very existence of good is a reminder to evil that it is”.

Let us pray for each other.

You are right, they are going down their checklist, just marking off done, done, done, etc. Eventually christianity will be illegal, it will be considered a hate group. This decision on gay marriage today was a HUGE thing on the grand scale though.

What I find curious is how methodical they have gone about this, if you look at it, they are doing it in a way where most people consider it to be a good thing, slow conditioning over the years, eventually they can influence peoples opinions, people dont even realize they are accepting something so evil with a smile and come on in. LOL
