In what way(s) are you "retro?"

I drive a manual car.
I cook from scratch and wash up by hand.
I line dry clothes, if the weather’s nice.
I have a first gen phone.
I have a filing cabinet with paper documents… ooh.
I have a push lawnmower, but that’s by choice.
I like old movies and old music, does that count? 🙂

Retro?

How can I count the ways?

Prefer to wash dishes by hand, no dishwasher for me
Like to cook and bake from scratch
Like to crochet and embroider
No TV
No social media except for CAF and LinkedIn
Prefer to walk instead of drive
Prefer to walk into a store instead of drive throughs
Prefer public transportation instead of driving in large cities
Hate low fat foods - most of the time are crammed full of sugar to replace the flavor when fat was taken out
Prefer to save instead of spend

The biggest retro of them all - being Catholic

Nowadays religion is considered hopelessly old-fashioned and not progressive

That brings up an interesting question. Is steampunk retro or progressive?

I think it’s both.

It has modern touches but is inspired by a fictitious Victorian England.

A lot of it’s inspired by historical science fiction, and what people in the Victorian and Edwardian eras thought of of the future as.

Yup! Generally based on different eras. I find the steampunk to be the most aesthetically attractive, although cyberpunk rpg’s sound fun.

If I were to rank them from my most to least favorite it would be

Cyber punk
Steam punk
Diesel punk
Atomic punk

I believe in God and try to obey him
I don’t have social media accounts
I believe in marriage between man and woman

I prefer the manual kind too.
My son and daughter-in-law have an electric can opener now and I never can get the can in the right position for the opener to start. It frustrates me!

They’re great for people with bad arthritis, or some other condition or injury that affects their hands.

Otherwise, I agree completely. They’re no easier, and in some ways less easy, to use than a regular can opener.

Plus you can’t take them on camping trips.

True, they would be no use on a camping trip. You bring up a good point about those
with arthritis or some disability with their hands because you need strength in your hands to use the manual can opener.
I have noticed too on the electrical can opener food particles stuck around the part that goes in the can. Gross!

I got my first cell phone last June. I now have three contacts and when I text I use proper punctuation and spelling.

I keep Charles Chips cans on my fridge because I love them for their retro-vintage-nostalgicness.

And it’s pronounced “Char-lees chips”.
