In your pro-life work, do you show people photos of aborted babies?

I don’t do this kind of pro-life work but if I did, I would show pictures of aborted babies to adults who were considering abortion. I think it is important that they realize just exactly what an abortion does to that living unborn child.

I think there may be a time and a place, in an individual setting, with one person who is trying to decide. It may help counter the doctors assurances about the procedure. But as for posters, I think that is out of line. I am an emotional person. In grade school I had to make a request to not see the abortion video, because I knew it would upset me. I know it is wrong. There is no reason I need to see a child torn to pieces. And people have brought it up before, you don’t need to expose children to that.
i would not want to see a video like that either, & have declined when had the “opportunity”…

but i know several children who are here, alive & well, because those pictures were shown to their mothers… …

If people can’t handle the pictures, why do they condone the act???
good question…

and if people don’t like the pictures… how much less does the baby like what happesn…

i sense there is often too much emphasis on the gori-ness of the pictures and not so much on … what those photos can do to a person’s views on abortion… which makes u wonder… how pro-life some people really are…

No, I do not. I will describe what happens during an abortion if during the conversation it seems appropriate. I think in some cases it may be useful but in most cases it just makes people angry and ends the dialog.
people who get angry about the truth (assuming it is presented in a “civilized way”) are strange people… possibly sold out to the devil… just my opinion…

does them getting angry make it more right to kill the unborn?

they are angry because they don’t want abortion to stop…

frankly, i think its kinda stupid to get angry at the truth…

They actually drive away from pro-lifers some of the people in most desperate need of help, hope, and healing: women who have already had one or more abortion.

I think there may be a place and time, but some used turn many away and off being pro-life. Its the wrong message IMHO. As again the Unborn need their own “Uncle Toms Cabin”.

Whether it is stupid or not is not the point. We want to change people’s hearts. The attitude if you can’t stomach these pictures than why do you think abortion should be legal doesn’t move most people. We want to be effective not just right. We’re not out to be the winner of the argument we’re out to save babies and their mothers from this tragedy.

I’m going to jump right in and say it: Those “gory” pictures converted me. Seeing the images gave me the knock to the head to realize that abortion is murder. Murder. For some individuals with stubborn or cold hearts, those pictures may be the wake-up call they need.

i’d like to know waht people you are talking about??? I’ve never met one of those kinds of pepole… who gets angry @ seeing an aborted chhild… i used to hand out that kind of thing (to adults)… i’ve never had anyone get angry at me… That doesn’t make sense…

to see an aborted child, then get angry & become pro-abort…

that person was pro-abort a long time ago & doesn’t care about life… You can NEVER do much w/ that kind of person… that person has to make the choice themselves…

Why do people think taht a person has that much power over another’s choice in the 1st place??

it is all about choice… some see the pictures & are not moved… those people sold their soul a long time ago… Most people care about the pain of others… whether born or o/wise…

I think the key word here that keeps getting used is “some”. The posters I don’t think work very well. People who may never have been involved with the abortion debate may get angry with pro-lifers who show their children these photos. And that doesn’t help anything.

It may be a needed wake-up call for some, but others may see it as disrespectful to the child, or simply find them gross (which isn’t necessarily helpful).

People respond much better to simpler and rational methods, forcing pornographic gore on them is not rational. Nor do I want my children to see such a thing, they are plenty prolife without it.

As someone with quite a few relatives who are decidedly pro-abortion, I can say that for the most part, pro-abortion people who see these photos are more and more convinced that the pro-life movement “doesn’t really care about people” that the pro-life movement is heartless and utterly without a logical or natural defense, the pro-life movement has to “shock” with ugly images instead of convince. I’ve known people get angry after being shown these images, and I’ve also known people to look at the images, talk to the pro-lifer and then run to the nearest Planned Parenthood and donate money, or sign up to help.

It’s better, really, to show images of the child, unhurt. So that the person can connect in someway - human to human, not simply turn away in disgust.

Blessings,
Masha

I respect the other view on this issue-that you should show the pics, but I strongly disagree with it still.

Think of is this way-if those pictures where on prime time television, I’d be so repulsed that I’d call the FCC (yes, I am a prude)!

At the very least, we should all want to reduce abortion with the hope and prayer of one time ending this horrific practice. Showing netting pictures like this won’t help our cause.

Like I said, I respectfully disagree with others on this. I think we need to remember that we’re all on the same side here (hopefully!) we just disagree with the methods.

I agree with distracted’s view. Adults (not children) need the wake-up call. The movies that were taken of the holocaust death camps in Germany and Poland and Austria should still be shown to German citizens as a history lesson they must never forget. That is why the pictures were taken, to document what most people don’t want to know up close and personal. Some people still deny it happened. In America some people still deny the American holocaust.

How can you feel for the babies when you cannot really see the cruelty done to them?

How can you really summon up the outrage to do something about it without seeing the outrageous crime in person?

“For some individuals with stubborn or cold hearts, those pictures may be the wake-up call they need.”

Or something seriously wrong with how the truth is being presented.
if people have an aversion to the truth, something’s wrong with them… presentation means nothing… esp when it comes to life/death issues…

that’s how people end up in Hell… they despise truth…
