Hi. I am undergoing a biopsy procedure in two days to determine the extent of my prostate cancer. I am nervous because I haven’t been a good Catholic for the past two years- Not worshipping God, Missing Mass, not going to confession, etc. My question is: Is it too late to pray and go to confession or would this be considered hypocritical?

Are you contrite? Do you fear for your immortal soul? If so, it is never too late.

Welcome Home!!

Please, call your pastor. He will be overjoyed to hear your confession and bring you to the Sacraments!

We, your Catholic brothers and sisters, have missed you.

Never too late. Please go to confession and confess all your sins. You can go to any Catholic Church to do so. Just tell Father it’s been a very long time since you have been to confession.

I pray your surgery goes well and that your faith is restored

God bless

Yes I agree and you may feel like a burden has been lifted

I don’t think it’s hypocritical, I think it’s smart.
Having this time to prepare is a real blessing!
Best wishes as you go forward.

It’s never too late.

I pray that everything goes well for you.

Now one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying, “Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us.” The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply, “Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation. And indeed, we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing criminal.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” He replied to him, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Nope, not too late. Jesus forgave the good thief at the point of death. You can certainly be forgiven. You’re much earlier than the good thief! 🙂
Welcome home and prayers for your health.

It is the perfect way to be placed back in full communion. The Anointing is also very powerful and highly recommended in cases where life is at stake. I have received it on innumerable occasions and have so far defeated a 99.5% chance of not being here.

EDIT: As long as you seek to be re-united with the Church out of love of God (even out of fear of eternal punishment), God accepts you! He invites you. There is more joy in heaven for one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous.

Be that one!

Welcome to CAF, Ross 🙋 Yes…Go for it! 🎈 Find a priest anywhere you can. If not your parish there are other parishes. There are Chaplin’s in hospital too, but you would have to work that out before your test. Praying for you and may the blessed Mother keep you in her care.

It´s never too late! Please God to confession and be reconciled with God and the Church. And no, you´re not a hypocrite. I go to confession as well when I´ve sinned, everyone should. That doesn´t make us hypocrites.
