Some of the posts are judgmental. When we take it upon ourselves to decide what is acceptable attire, we are judging. My point is it should be left to the church/priests. My principal sets the dress code for teachers and students, and so should the priest set it for his church.
I am so sick of people accusing others of being judgmental. It is a cop out, intellectually illogical, weak and insulting statement. It is an abdication of responsibility and a promotion of moral relativity and social anarchy.
First, we commit the sin of judgement when we, in our hearts, consign someone to Hell. Period. End of definition.
If we look at someone and see a slovenly dressed man loitering outside a convenience store in a bad neighborhood furtively looking around trying to hide a bulge in one pocket, it would not be wrong
judge that the man may be up to no good.
If we see a scantily clad woman, most men will conclude that she is looking for something.
If we wear a person wearing a T-shirt that says “God is dead” to Mass, it would not be wrong to conclude that such a person is intentionally making an anti-Christian statement.
Are we “judging”, in the Biblical sense, any of these people? No. But we can conclude that their behavior may be sinful. As such, it is
our responsibility to point this out to them. For when we fail to point out the sin in another person, when we fail to help lead them, by both our actions and our words, to the Truth of God, then, if they do indeed end up in Hell, their blood may be on our hands. Don’t believe me, read Ezekiel 3:16-26.
How we behave in public, including how we dress,
is everyone’s business. Our public behavior can be either a support or a stumbling block to those around us. To deny this is to abdicate responsibility. To accuse others of “judging” is sophistry of the sorriest sort.
