Several of my non-Catholic friends have forwarded me (and a bunch of their other friends) this link.

I am glad to see it making the rounds! 👍

From someone who took a course and has experience with media, audio and video, That was phenomenal!

I felt like I was watching a Catholic version of Transformers due to the song! LOL

It is wonderful to see modern technology and techniques use to convince people of the truth at all levels of humananity. Perhaps the Church has focused on the intellectual argument to the exclusion of the emotional level. No marketer of beer, soda, or potato chips would do that. Maybe that is why consumerism is more popular than Christianity.

I hate it when we beat around the bush! So what does it all mean? To be a good Catholic do I have to vote against President Obama and every Democrat up for office?

Seems implied, but lacking in the moral courage to say as much.

What’s up with that?

Where does the ad mention party, Democrat or Republican?

Like poetry, it uses imagery. You make of it what you will.

Will you vote the values that will stand the test of fire?

It means that as Catholics we are called to vote pro-life, pro-marriage and to protect our religious freedom. Party affiliation has nothing to do with it.

If Obama did a U-turn on his stance on the five non negotiables then yes you could vote for him. However as can be seen with the HHS mandate a vote for him would be like a Turkey voting for Christmas. He is a tyrant with zero repect for religious freedom.

If Obama and every Democrat in Congress cannot guarantee that he or she will use his/her office to guarantee life, marriage, and freedom of religion. Yes.

Does your conscience tell you that it is okay to vote for politicians who champion issues such as: abortion, abortive conctraception, gay marriage, etc?

The Church cannot tell you who to vote for. The moral courage will have to come from you. You have free will. The Church can lay out the issues as they pertain to your Catholic faith. The rest is up to your conscience.

I am not familiar with the group which produced the video, but someone has already mentioned that the organization has filed for non-profit status. This likely means they need to be careful not to be overtly partisan.

Here is a news interview which was conducted because of the buzz around the video. Two of the founders of the organization were interviewed.
This is a time of fierce partisan divide in our country and faithful Catholics are facing a quandary over how they should spend their votes. Enter, Test of Fire, a faith-based video that reinforces the non-negotiable issues for Catholics, and what should be non-negotiable issues for all. Recently, I had the opportunity to interview Al Silva, the Executive Vice President of Catholics Called to Witness, and Adriana Gonzalez, co-founder of the organization, who produced the video.
Catholics Called to Witness is a Faith-based organization from Florida that has captured media attention as a result of their viral ‘Test of Fire’ campaign.
LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Catholics Called to Witness are two husband-and-wife teams of devoted Catholic faithful from Florida that have come together to promote the three non-negotiable principles as expressed by Pope Benedict XVI.

I can’t remember the context, but somewhere quite a few months ago (long before the video) I read or heard something that Manny and Adriana had written or said. I wish that information had stuck in my head. Anyway, my impression was positive.

When I followed up on information about this video I felt I already knew them 🙂 and I was impressed! I signed up for their newsletter.

Not overtly partisan? LOL! They all but hit you on the head with their overly dramatic presentation. 🤷

I don’t think they originated the phrase “Non Negotiable”, but I did find the video a little dramatic. It reminded me of the opening sequence of Conan the Barbarian

I agree. Also any Tax Excempt(or applying for that statuts)cannot tell you who to vote for. They would lose their exemption.I cannot understand someone voting Against the teachings of the Church.:shrug:And thank you for posting this link.

Catholics should vote Catholic, not Democrat or Republican. Reality is is that most Democrats are pro abortion and many support gay ‘marriage’ and Republicans do not.

So, everyone missed my point, so I will try and be more clear.

My beef is not with a political party or a candidate. My beef is the beating around the bush.

If the church is disillusioned (and rightfully so) with the president or the administration, videos like this should spell it out.

Not saying it because of fear of lossing tax exempt status is a dangerous, and sinful concept, because by not clearly speaking out we are complicit in the sins committed by the world, and we are supposed to be above that.

If we as the body of Christ, or our Church, are afraid to speak plainly regardless of the financial concequences, we are no better than those we are opposed to.

If we are legitimately concerned with the sanctity of life, or freedom of religion, but filter our concerns so we don’t lose money, than all we have proven is that life and freedom of religion is only important to us if it does not effect our funding.

So, where do we, and where does the church stand? Lukewarm is not acceptable, according to scripture.

If anyone says we need to look at the bigger picture, therefore being wishy washy is okay, than the opposition who have no regard for life or freedom of religion can hardly be held to account.

This wasn’t a “Church” video. It was made by the people who made it. 🙂

There is nothing preventing you from recording your own video or presentation. Well, except for finances probably. (Not meaning to be snarky here! In this day and age, with the right equipment we can all be movie makers on YouTube. 🙂 )

However, I think you might be missing the emotional pull involved with the images in the video. On my first viewing I was wondering why all those things were being pounded on and put into the fire. At that time I wasn’t sure just who made the video and why. But as it went along I started getting the message. And I don’t think it was lukewarm, even though it didn’t name names or parties. It could make people think. Remember the adage: “show don’t tell”.

That’s why I forwarded it to some relatives who are regular church going Catholics (like even daily Mass) who are staunch democrats and I’m pretty sure helped elect our current President.

Not sure if they “got it” or even watched it, I didn’t hear back. But the way it’s making the rounds I may not be the only person to send it to them.

Remember, understatement can be a powerful way to deliver a message. It can make the view wonder, “What did I just see? What are they trying to say?”
