If the church is disillusioned (and rightfully so) with the president or the administration, videos like this should spell it out.
I think this video spells it out. šŸ˜‰
So, where do we, and where does the church stand? Lukewarm is not acceptable, according to scripture.
That video was not lukewarm. Furthermore, if you have not heard about all the Catholic Diocese and Universities filing suit against the federal government…then you have been living on another planet.🤷

No, not another planet, but I do strive to not be of this world, thank you!

A lawsuit is very different from taking a definitive stance on what candidate to vote for. A law suit does not imperil tax free status, where candidate endorsement would.

The church needs, if it is serious (and it should be) to be fearless in this regard and take a stand even if it costs the Church money. Claiming to be against the murder of innocents, or putting up a defense to protect Church doctrine as long as it does not put the Church in a possition to lose tax free status, is unacceptable!

The Bishops need to know that ā€œpushing the envolopeā€ is quite different from sealing it!

We’re on the same page here, I’m just taking a more orthodox view of things.

Great Video – extremely moving – I swear I had goosebumps by the end!

The problem with the Church endorsing specific candidates is that there is no single candidate out there whose platform encompasses the Church’s teachings. An example would be this -

Candidate One is pro-choice and pro-gay marriage, but opposes the death penalty and favors social welfare programs and reasonable immigration reform. Candidate One has also been in a stable marriage his entire adult life.

Candidate Two is pro-life and pro-traditional marriage, but favors the death penalty, wants to deport all illegal immigrants and end all social welfare programs. Candidate Two has had multiple divorces, in some cases due to extramarital affairs.

The Church cannot in good conscience endorse Candidate One specifically because of his pro-choice stance (all other talking points notwithstanding). However, an endorsement of the second candidate implies Church approval of his entire platform and of him as a person, which doesn’t work either.

Sadly, there is no Catholic Party, with candidates for whom it really makes sense for us to vote. All too often, elections come down to ā€œWho’s the pro-life guy, and the hell with any other issues!ā€ I personally hate feeling like every time I vote, I’m just picking the lesser of two evils.
