I was about to finish this really long post that was basically a “woe is me” vent.

But I re-thought it and erased it.

So,the induction is scheduled tomorrow.

Hopefully this will work just once and I won’t be in labor for more then 12 hours (my record is 30 hours).

Basically, I’m done being pregnant and having kiddos. But God tends to be mysterious and rad and, hopefully, we can work this all out in the end and be in agreement with each other on something.

So my anxiety levels have gone up substantially.
I’m anxious about the induction, the birthing process and confronting the pain I know is coming.

I’m anxious about trying to wrangle 3 kids under the age of 4 without totally losing my sanity.

I’m anxious about trying to abstain for the foreseeable future.
Basically until I get my cycles back and regular and we can afford a monitor, learn to use it and feel comfortable enough that I can trust it and myself.
I have no idea how long that will take…but it’s going to be months and months.

I’m anxious about staying on track with school and everything else going on in my life.

Prayers would be cool.

My relationship with God has been…interesting…to say the least, over the past year.
I think that is the best way to describe it.
Not positive, not negative…I haven’t lost anything or felt cut off. Maybe indifferent is a good word to use.

So, prayers are appreciated…for both the induction and everything else.
Wisdom is always welcomed as well.

Prayers for you and hope the induction goes well!!!

I think things may look a bit brighter once you’re snuggling your baby. 🙂

Take things one step at a time and take care of yourself!

This would be the part that would get me. But try to think of it as, you have two little mother’s helpers. Four year olds, and even twos, can be very helpful on occasion. They can fetch diapers, bring you the phone, etc.

Just think of the essential things that have to be done each day, and if you can accomplish those, you’ve succeeded. Like: they’re relatively clean. they’ve been fed, there are no large pools of any noxious substance on the floor. And then you can add extras if time and circumstances permit, such as they’ve had a book read to them, and they’ve had time to go outdoors or play inside, and the dishes are hidden in the dishwasher if not washed. Priorities.

I will pray for peace for you, and that all goes smoothly.
God loves you all the time, just like you love your kids even when they’re all absorbed in their own activities and not thinking about you.

Beautiful post.
So true.
You don’t have to be all things to all people.
Just be mom and wife. In any increment that you can manage.
Remember, you’re not alone. Besides for the Lord and Our Lady, there’s also hubby!
Make a list of things he can do well (successfully) and let him do them.
Sending you hugs and offering prayers!
❤️

My last delivery was an induction, my first induction, at exactly 39 weeks (gestational diabetes). It was fantastic. My first labor was 13 hours, my second was 4 and the third (the induction) was 9 hours. It was very nice to have it conveniently scheduled, to have childcare all set up, to know my husband would be able to come, and I was able to have a nice chat with the anesthesiologist before getting my epidural exactly when I wanted it. I got a little lonely being at the hospital all by myself since my husband spent nights home with our big kids, but otherwise it was a great experience. Oh, and one more thing about the actual delivery experience–nothing happened for the longest time, and then just when my husband was going to leave to find some dinner, I had the baby. So, don’t despair if there’s initially no progress.

Abstinence shouldn’t be hard for the first little bit…for you.

I wish you were in our area–I’d love to help you!

Best wishes!

Thanks!

Wrangling three kids under four is the source for about 90% of my anxiety.

I think my oldest will be a big help. She’s starting to come out of the dark cloud that was the terrible twos (well…the terrible 18 months to 3s is more like it!).

Her only issue is that she just doesn’t like playing on her own…she wants to play with someone else a vast majority of the day.
She’s very social and very extroverted.

Her sister is far more introverted and far more comfortable playing on her own…she’ll enjoy her older sister’s company…but then wants to explore on her own and that makes the oldest frustrated.

Add to the mix that my middle is a complete mama’s girl and, even though she isn’t nursing, still needs that comfort apparently only I can give her.

I’m afraid she is going to regress big time when the baby is here and won’t be too happy with her at all.

I dunno…I’m venting again.

I really need patience. Lots and lots of patience. As much patience as I can get. It’s tough not to snap at them or be unreasonable with them.

Our lady has been my biggest source of comfort. I can tell she’s there in all the little things…

My oldest has picked up and enjoys praying the Hail Mary.
The girls both want to see her statue in the prayer room when we go to daily Mass.

And today we went to a family party and my girls both discovered a garden statue of Mary and were playing around with it.
My youngest was blowing bubbles at it and then tried to ave Mary blow bubbles back…it was cute.
Made me smile and relax a little.

My middle was a scheduled induction too.
Also for GD.
We went in the first time and my midwife had me on Pitocin and nothing happened…all day.
Barely any contractions and no progress.

After 12 hours…at max dosage…we called it quits, I went home, waited out the weekend and came back that Monday.
Tried again with cervadil and that worked.
It took another 12 hours of labor but a super fast delivery (like 2 pushes!).

I’m hoping for a repeat performance or faster.

I’m a fan of the inductions for the same reasons…childcare is arranged, I can mentally prepare for it, it’s on a day my midwife will be on 24 call and she’ll deliver my baby and we’re out of the hospital in a couple of days.

And…hubby will be on double daddy duty.
He’ll be at the hospital until Tuesday morning…go home to see the girls and let the babysitters switch.
Then he’ll spend Tuesday night with the girls and pack them up on Wed to come get me and the baby at the hospital.

Someone’s got to get a decent night’s sleep and it might as well be the one who isn’t considered a patient.

Praying to Our Lady of Guadalupe for you to have an uncomplicated pregnancy & safe delivery of a healthy baby.

I pray you have a safe delivery and feel much joy!

I am a senior, senior citizen and now have 12 grandchildren. I had 8 children and all I can think of to suggest is that you babyproof your house, keep the nice knick-knacks out of toddler’s reach.

They will play a lot with each other and do not have to have large fancy toys. They also loved to be read to, and we took many trips to the children’s section of the library.

I accepted hand-me-downs and also shopped at thrift stores.

What counts is that they will try your patience…so stay close to the Lord…and start teaching them to pray at a very young age.

I didn’t do everything perfect and there were heartaches. Children are precious gifts from God and bring many joys.

Now we all keep in touch and visit each other from other states when we can.

I remember the way I panicked when I found out my third pregnancy that we were having boy/girl twins. I was so scared and it caused me to have the only anxiety attack I have ever had. I was in such bad shape that the dr actually shot me up with adavan! It was ugly. But how else would somebody react to the news that they would be the proud mama of 4 kids under 3? It was terrifying. I cried on my way home form the hospital after delivery too. I had newborn twins, a 13 month old, and a 25 month old. Guess what? I survived, the kids thrived, and today they are best friends. We ended up having 8 in 14 years. It can be done, and you may find out that you find joy along the way.

A few suggestions I have to help out (hopefully):
  1. DO NOT think you must make everyone happy all the time. It’s alright if somedays there are more tears than laughter. When it all settles down at the end, the tears tend to be forgotten and sometimes even turned into silly stories.
  2. Remember to say thank you prayers off and on throughout the day, even if you aren’t feeling particularly thankful.
  3. Cereal for dinner is ok! So is scrambled eggs, sandwiches, ramen noodles, etc.
  4. TV, books, games, and computer never hurt anybody.
  5. Sometimes going outside in a fenced backyard is the best babysitter.
  6. Enlist the oldest as the helper and give the middle a doll to mother.
  7. If possible, avoid unnecessary trips without extra help. Little ones get tired and often prefer to stay home anyway.
  8. If you have kids that don’t get car sick, sometimes it’s perfectly acceptable to waste gas on a long car ride to no where. Some kids hate to ride, but if yours like it, it’s a good way to keep them contained without you needing to hold them. I still strap mine in and go out for a ride on particularly rough days, and several if mine are teenagers now. Everyone gets in a better mood after a car trip. It’s relaxing and they are somewhat in their own space, but they can interact on a limited bases. Sing with the radio, point out the sights, giggle and laugh, or if needed, tune the kids out and pray.
  9. The house is going to survive if you don’t get around to cleaning it everyday. It’s alright to skip it sometimes. And your kids are not going to remember that there was a time that the house was messy or the floor was unmopped. They will remember, though, if you spent all your time cleaning instead of bonding with them.
  10. If all you feel like doing is crying, that’s ok too. Crying is a terrific stress relief. I prefer to cry in the shower where it’s warm, the sound of the water, and my kids aren’t underfoot but it will not harm your kids if they see or hear you cry every once in a while. It let’s them know you are human too. If you always hold it in, eventually it will boil over in very unhealthy ways. If you find yourself yelling a lot, try crying it out instead. Eventually you will find that laughing is an even better stress relief, and little ones provide a lot of comedy. It’s not hard to find opportunities to laugh, especially with little girls around. Mine are mostly boys and the girls are all spread out so I can’t really know the dynamic of your home. My closest in age kids are boys. But individually my girls have the sweetest things they come up with.
Try to find joy each day. Even on the worst days there is joy to be found.

I also understand the cross of extended abstinence. It’s been a year for us. My husband is beginning to come around to the idea of trying again for a baby, but until he’s sure, we will continue to abstain. NFP does not work for us AT ALL, so until he’s positive that he’s willing to risk another loss, we avoid being intimate. It’s a tough cross to carry, especially since I have been wanting to try again for several months. If we were both feeling the same way it would be so much easier. Hopefully you and your husband will be of one mind during this trying time. That will be my prayer for you.

I’m sorry for your difficult pregnancies and deliveries. That must be so hard. :console: prayers for safe delivery! I’ll add a couple in the for speedy delivery! 😛

Just a piece of info about the Clear Blue Easy monitor, there is a cheaper alternative. It’s also from CBE. It’s a disposable system and is available at most stores like Target. It is the Clear Blue Easy ADVANCED digital ovulation monitor. It has to be the advanced one. It tests for the same two hormones (elevated Estrogen levels and the LH surge) as the expensive CBE monitor. It will give you the necessary Low, High and Peak info needed for Marquette. The only thing it lacks is the ability to record data, you have to keep your own cycle records on good old paper! 😉

But I promise it is the same otherwise. It’s just new so I’m sure others will catch on quickly! It ranges from $40-$50 per test kit (one per month) which is exactly what the expensive monitor’s test strips cost per month. But you never have to shell out that initial $200-$250! 😃 Heres the link. You’ll have to cut and paste into your address bar, my link key doesn’t work on my phone!

Thought of one more thing 😉

If you are unable to have a family member come stay with you a few weeks, maybe you could find a teen/tween to be a babysitter/ mother’s helper? They could play with the older two while you care for baby or rest, while baby sleeps. That might be a load off your shoulders for a few hours a few days a week. They could help after school or if your lucky and know a homeschooled teen, during the day too. If you can find an older sitter they might be able to help into the evening hours, I think I remember evenings being hard for you as your husband works late?

Anyways, just throwing that suggestion out there. Hope all goes well tomorrow. God bless you!

I’ll keep you in my prayers tonight and tomorrow and until we hear from you. May the angels rejoice over another beautiful child on this planet.

We didn’t expect our third child. We miscalculated a fertility date and now have a very happy, healthy, beautiful little girl who giggles when I kiss her dimples and who sometimes talks to herself in the mornings when she wakes up. My wife called her “the baby I didn’t know I wanted”. It is tough - our kids are a bit older but I understand the anxiety. My wife cried, too, but found strength in our older kids and in the fact that we were consistently able to find a way to do what we needed to do. There were sacrifices - my office is now a very cluttered desk in the hallway, and we ended up really cleaning out stuff from our closets to send to Goodwill since we now needed the space, and we hurried our middle child through potty training to free up the diapers for the baby (we use cloth). But now our family feels more complete and we couldn’t imagine life without our little munkin.

I hope your induction goes well and you have a nice quick labor.

I understand you’ll be formula feeding?

Usually, AF shows up about 8 weeks after birth for mom’s who don’t nurse (my littlest was a preemie, so he was tube fed then bottle-fed most of the time in the NICU, I pumped, but his demand was bigger than my supply, AF showed up before his due date)

So hopefully, AF shows up, and your signs will be clearer to read.

I don’t have any advice to give, but I thought I would let you know that I am praying for you and your baby today. God sees you, He sees your struggles, He’s not going to let go ❤️

Best of luck to you! I hope that by now you’re snuggling an adorable newborn and getting some rest!
