Hi Kathleen and CatholicAnne,
Just wanted to pop in to say hello and to tell you that you are in my prayers.
Last week, I had some very severe episodes of hypoglycemia. I was disoriented, had to lie down, cognitive impairment, etc. It lasted most of the week. I don’t have PCOS, but I do have insulin resistance because of a family history of diabetes. I know that insulin resistance is one of the classic markers of PCOS. So, I feel for you both. While I was down last week, I bought a
new book on kindle by Dr. Mark Hyman called The Blood Sugar Solution: The UltraHealthy Program for Losing Weight, Preventing Disease, and Feeling Great Now! It is absolutely a gift from God. If you are already familiar with the concepts, some of it will not be new. But, the supplement recommendations and the recipes including portion sizes have been the golden ticket for me. I feel so much better. And, I have lost 5 lbs. in one week. I am not overweight, but I have the “spare tire” around the abdomen which is deadly for insulin resistance which is one of the root causes of infertility.
I talked to my NaPro doctor about all of this last week. He gave me an an article about adrenal insufficiency and infertility along with a 5 page questionnaire about it which I have filled out and will give back to him at the next visit. The article was written by Dr. Hilgers and talks about low-dose cortisone treatments for women with adrenal fatigue and infertility and pregnancy success with this treatment for women who have otherwise “failed Clomid”. I think that might be the next round of treatment that will be prescribed for me, but we’ll see.
God bless you, ladies!
