What document is it that I can look at to show which Bible translations are approved and which ones are included in the Lectionary of the US?
We use a revised version of the RNAB because the RNAB had inappropriate inclusive language. In the US, we use the Revised New American Bible for readings at Mass.
Got it. In which case I shall quietly excuse myself from this thread and say nevermind.I think he’s asking for the document where it is set forth.
That’s all correct. I’m just looking for the USCCB or whomever document that declares that.I was under the impression that the Lectionary translation is unique i.e. not from any “complete” Bible, although in general based on the NAB. I am not aware that any other translation than that in the lectionary itself is currently authorized for use in Latin rite churches in the USA.
Somebody already tracked down the ruling; see above … but the issue comes up because the Canadian Council of Bishops (or whatever their acronym is) authorized use of the RSV precisely because it uses inclusive language (you may have heard news of some of the lawsuits in Canadian courts. St Joseph, pray for them …)That’s all correct. I’m just looking for the USCCB or whomever document that declares that.
