There were profound implications and trillions of dollars spent based on the fear that the experts’ models were correct. #FoxNews #IngrahamAngle

This reminds me of some of the panic-driven models on the global warming issue too.

Way overhyped.

By the way. YouTube is doing what I call a soft-shadow ban against Laura Ingraham. (This same thing is done against Tucker too by the way.)

You used to click her link on any of her stories and get an ordered set of results beginning with all today’s videos.

Then yesterday. Then videos from the day before that. Etc…

Now I see YouTube is scrambling them. At least on MY devises.

So you see a segment from a day ago, then one from 5 months ago! Then another from 2 weeks ago. And it is arranged quite haphazardly.

It was not like that before.

These are purposeful ways to manipulate information distribution and I don’t like it.

interesting, I hope it improves. but better safe than sorry, I wish things were more strict and enforced concerning social istancing and shut downs in my state, this whole event is changing my opinion about what government is for (not for defending liberties, because if it is taken away when it is for the public good and during a time when responsibility carried weight, its not for that, but instead its for peoples own good, since they are largely irresponsible and have no idea what they are doing about anything at all, maybe that is the point of it all).

i wonder if the fact that some things were done is why the models changed, but I’m not good with stats so I can’t say for sure. even when this is all over we are going to be damaged, lives lost, faiths lost, jobs lost, money gone, might as well go all out since we are here anyway.

That’s what they are saying . . . Now.

But THEN I was told of phony best case scenarios WITH things like social distancing already factored in.

Inexcusable that Ingragam’s analysts were more correct than the “big wigs” we have been hearing all these wrong predictions from.

Like I said.

Makes me think of the exact same shenanigans with the global warming game.

We had and still have a few things going on at once.

First, even the most sincere and honest medical researchers only had incomplete or evolving data .

Second, historically, we’ve been told how “the sky is falling“ on too many occasions to count.
Real disasterS occur, but there might be twenty panicked alarms for every one bona fide emergency.

Thirdly, this issue was too juicy not to be turned into a political football.

As for myself, ever since we got the first case in my county (which was the hotspot for my state), I’ve tracked the number of total cases and calculated the number of new cases every day.

My data source? My state and county websites.

I’m leaving the whinging to others.

Like there is no global warming, and there is no pandemic?
No.

Like both have been overplayed by the chicken-little contingent.

The title of the thread . . .

dscath’s reponse?

It focuses on “Trump” personally and ignores the proclaimed “experts” extreme mistakes.

Trump-bashing instead of looking at all the numbers we were told three weeks ago from all of the so-called “experts” and their models (which included social distancing as mitigation).

dscath . . .
Mainly that Trump is not one of them.
For everyone else?

Watch the video and draw your own conclusions.

And evolving level of response.
I think that there is some misapprehension about what models are and how they are used.
It was the modeling that pointed to a huge disaster that made it clear that we needed to take major steps to keep this under some level of control. The steps taken were effective, and the models reflected that efficacy. That did not make the early models wrong. Instead it illustrated ther important utility.

I hope you know the book and movie were works of fiction if you are quoting
from Jaws.

TBH I never read any of the models, mostly because I’m not a decision maker at my job. I don’t need to plan staff or source materials.

I was more about reading how to prevent the spread.

The cases in my own county continue to rise (I started tracking it out of simple curiosity). So right now I’m still about not spreading infection.

What is her point.
A panel of three professional wrestlers and 3 roller derby stars will now tell us the facts.
Or worse, her and her sponsors?

This is a partial truth.

You forgot to mention that the hysterical disaster models (some of which YOU were advocating) had assumed “major steps” were taken.

120K + dead world wide, 25K+ dead in the use, and you talk about it being “overplayed by the chicken-little contingent”?

How many must die before you concern by others as being overplayed, and being part of a chicken-little contingent?

250K, Half a Million, A million?

How many would be dead if there were no virus?

People love to make hay out of statistics of the dead from covid, but no one has actually defined the baseline.

Is the number, compared to the actual population statistically significant?
Is the number of deaths from covid significantly different from deaths from any other cause?

This is a phony premise based on your emotion with some numbers thrown in.

Numbers that I have already acknowledged are tragic.
But also numbers that are nowhere near what we were told they would be!

I have expressed my concern. Many times.

You are ignoring risks and benefits.

You are ignoring that people die with economic collapses too. Just ask Venezuela.

You are also ignoring how wrong the predictions were.

You are also ignoring we were told the whole purpose of this was to avoid overwhelming the US medical system.

And now the argument is morphing into not getting the virus. Something we were told just weeks ago, was inevitable.

Your “arguments” are not persuasive.

And that is just the first half of the first wave with shelter in place in most states.
So are you now predicting that the US health system will collapse under the second wave?

Or are you just intimating it enough so you can have plausable deniability weeks or months from now when I call you out on your wrong prediction again?
