The title of this thread was along the lines “…innocents Christianity has killed.”

A strong distinction must be made between Christianity and Christians…we need to properly reason through assertions, premises, and facts.

I don’t like it when people make claims that are grey and essentially untrue.

Yes, Christian have killed people. Were some of them innocent? Yes. What is the point of this line of reasoning? Unclear.

I think for a short retort, say “well when you can find one innocent that was deliberately killed for Christ in order to advanced His Kingdom, let me know”. I guess I would rethink my involvement in a hostile forum if you are going to be out numbered or out gunned. Maybe that it just me.
I have to remember that tactic.👍

I have to agree with Randy Carson here.

Rejecting examples of Christians murdering people as being those of fake Christians is nothing more than the No True Scotsman Logical Fallacy.

Accepting examples of Christians murdering people while claiming that this shouldn’t in any way affect a person’s impression of Christianity is a bit naive. We judge philosophies based on their fruits expressed in individuals all the time, both good and bad. You can’t point to examples of Christian charity in order to laud Christianity while ignoring cases of individual Christians doing atrocious things. It’ll take a little more fleshing out than that.
I understand what you are saying but the context of the discussion that was presented by Op was the murder of baby boys by Herod in an effort to kill Jesus. Someone retorted that 'Christians kill innocent babies too". There is a big difference between someone that claims to be a Christian or is one and commits murder for what ever reason and state sanctioned murder of babies in the name of Christianity. The person isn’t really looking to be educated but to be a smart mouth. This person cannot point to any time that the Catholic Church sanctioned or told people to go and kill babies. Even with the different wars in the crusades that most people like to point to, the ransacking of Constantinoble etc were condemned by Popes, they were not ordered by them. The best way to deal with smart mouths like this is dish is back in either asking for a specific example this happen or redirect them to groups like ISIS that are actually killing people in the name of their religion. The argument that Christians have killed is just based on an individual, King Herod was state sanctioned mass murder and excluding war and wartime, has never been done by the Catholic Church
